Storytime

“They even let me have two more sets of uniforms!” Franky chimed happily, tucking himself into a potato sack as they all settled back into the clubhouse..

Zai neatly folded the clothing and placed them on some tooth-marked stone shelves that Franky made.

Maika scuttled across the ceiling and dropped, landing expertly on their shiny new blue chair. She beckoned Franky and Zai to sit at her feet. “It’s story time! I need to practice reading for my baaaabies”

Zai sat on the floor by the chair and Franky inch-wormed over in his sack.

“Read the bird book!” Franky fumbled around in his sack then handed Maika a book.

“Oooh a classic!” Maika exclaimed (about a book she has never heard of before).

“I’m glad I went through the trouble of finding some age-appropriate books for you two,” said Zai, wiggling a loose molar.

“Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,” Maika began, licking a foot to turn the page. “Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore—”

You could be reading stolen content. Head to the original site for the genuine story.

“Oh, like the one we found Mr. Incognito in!” Franky interrupted.

“Yes, that’s correct Franky!” Maika said, her antennas oscillating back and forth with pride. “While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,” She continued, “As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.” She rotated the book to show them the pictureless text.

Maika continued reading as Franky and Zai listened with varying degrees of attentiveness.

“Is there—is there balm in jelly lad?—tell me—tell me, I implore! Quoth the raven…” Maika led.

“Nevermore,” droned Zai and Franky.

“Can we take a break, I’m tired?” Franky whispered to Zai

“Bask in her motherliness,” Zai spat back.

“You are supposed to fall asleep as I am reading.” Maika said.

“Nevermore,” droned Franky, not listening to a word she was saying.

Soon Franky and Zai were fast asleep, snuggled together.

Maika contentedly closed the book and scuttled down to curl up, planting herself fuzzy-side on their faces to keep them warm. “Sweet nightmares,” she whispered as she gingerly wrapped some of her many legs around their heads.
