KIDS JUST BEING KIDS

Franky planted his hands firmly on his hips, chalk smeared over his face and clothes. “All done with the circle!” He said proudly, puffing out his chest, with a toothy little smirk.

Zai leaned over to inspect his work, struggling to hold a large tome to compare against. “I think you missed a sigil, over there…”

“Where?” Asked Franky.

“There.” In an attempt to point with one hand, the large book clattered to the ground.

“Meeeeep!” Maika scuttled to a corner.

“Save that for the ritual.” Zai said.

“I’m not practicing!” Maika whined as Zai picked her up; planting a kiss on her carapace.

Maika chittered contentedly, now soothed.

“Ohhhh! I see it now!” Franky exclaimed, kneeling in front of the book on the ground.

He scooped up the chalk with purpose and walked around the edge of the circle (chalk smears after all). Scrunching his brow, he kneels back down to etch in the final sigil.

“I think we’re all ready to summon dinner now!” Franky said, crunching down on the remainder of the chalk.

“Elder gods are not food, Franky. People are,” chastised Zai.

“Yeah, but after we are done finding our new clubhouse… we’ll get our just desserts!”

If you discover this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.

“Don’t forget it needs to have lots of floofy muck, but mold or fresh rot is nice too!” Maika squeaked, her antennas wriggling with glee.

“You do always like my leftovers” Franky agreed

“The stuff between the bones is always the best reheated,”

As they talked, Zai’s power whirled around in the summoning circle, seemingly unnoticed.

“WHO DARES TO SUMMON IKAGNAKO THE-”

“Adorable!!!” Maika squealed

Ikagnako looked incredulously at Maika. She skittered up Zai’s shirt and peeked out from the rim of his hood. “...Beautiful?”

“You have two choices: either give us a new clubhouse and be dessert… or just be dessert,” said Zai.

Ikagnako grew in size and began forming limbs, as a dark expression came over his face.

“I’m warning you, Mr. Incognito,” said Zai slowly backing away, “I have the most unspeakable magic at my-” he toppled over from the weight of Maika wiggling in his hood.

Just then, Franky bit into his intimidation… literally. “I love how these elder bits pop in my mouth! It’s so gooey and delicious!”

“That’s disgusting, Frankfurter!” scolded Zai, “Chew with your mouth closed, then speak.”

“That’s right! Don’t be so rude around the dessert!” Maika chimed from the floor, fuzzy-side up.

Ikagnako made a vague gurgling noise from inside the circle.

Franky wiped his face, and smeared some of the elder paste across it. “Sorry, where are my manners,” he pulled out a tattered flag, tucking it into his shirt like a bib. He traced a pentagram over his chest as he spoke, “O unholy elder-gods, thank you for this meal.” He resumed eating.

“I have just the place for some little problems like you” Ikagnako said, oddly calm about the ordeal.

“There’s a lovely little world run by this goddess… friend… that would be perfect for a few problems such as yourselves,” he sighed, “Let me just send you there now.”

Zai, Maika, and Franky appeared on a sea cliff looking out toward a city.

“Looks tasty,” Franky commented as he slurped down the last of his elder leg.
