In front of Jung, there was a medium-sized wooden house, surrounded by trees from all directions, and its weathered appearance suggested it was built years ago. This was Tracy's home.
Tracy opened the door and invited Jung inside. The house was dimly lit by the soft light coming from the sun before it set.
Directly in front of Jung, there were two adjacent doors that seemed to lead to different rooms. To Jung’s left, there was a small table with two chairs, while on his right, there was a sofa made of animal leather.
Tracy walked forward and opened one of the adjacent doors, the one on the right, then entered. Shortly after, she returned carrying a small, hand-sized box that emitted rays of light, and she placed it on the small table on the left.
Jung looked at Tracy with curiosity as she reached out to remove the lid of the small box, but once she did, he was stunned, as a bright light emanated, forcing him to close his eyes.
Jung opened his eyes slowly, trying to adjust to the intense light, finding that the room was now fully illuminated without any dark spots. He looked back at the small box, his eyes filled with shock, then stepped forward to take a closer look.
Inside the small box, there was a small yellow glass orb, which was the source of the light.
Tracy said, "Since you lost your memory, this might seem strange to you, but in reality, it's just a common enchanted light orb."
Jung thought: 'Enchanted…'
Then he glanced at his suit, realizing that it might also be a magical item.
Tracy asked, "Anyway, you must be hungry, right?"
But she didn’t receive a response from Jung; instead, his stomach growled loudly, announcing its need for food.
Jung replied shyly, "It seems so."
A small smile appeared on Tracy's face, and she gestured towards the small table.
If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
Then she said, "Alright, sit down, I’ll bring us something to eat, I’m hungry too."
Jung pulled out a chair and sat down, waiting for Tracy to return from the room where she had retrieved the glowing orb.
Jung thought sadly: 'She’s a very kind girl... unlike those jerks from my world.'
Shortly after, Tracy returned carrying two plates in her hands, placing one in front of Jung and the other on the opposite side, then she sat on the chair there.
Looking at the plate in front of him, Jung thought: 'Bacon?'
He picked up a piece of meat, put it in his mouth, and savored its amazing taste.
After a short while, he looked at Tracy and said, "Thank you, it’s delicious."
In response, Tracy gave him a gentle smile.
After a short while, Jung asked something he had been curious about from the beginning: "Excuse me, may I ask why you haven’t asked if I’m a mage until now?"
Tracy replied, "That's because the Memory Devourer is a low-ranked monster, only first-grade, and it’s not a combat monster. If you were a mage, you could have defeated it easily, even if your magical density was just 'E'."
Jung asked with even more curiosity and excitement: "A low-ranked monster? Magical density?"
Tracy smiled, then said, "Well, it seems that memory loss isn’t entirely bad, as I still remember how excited I was when my father first told me about this... And to answer your question, monsters and items are classified into five ranks, each rank divided into three grades. These ranks are low, medium, high, rare, and legendary, although it’s only in legends that anyone has heard of the appearance of a legendary rank, so many doubt its existence. As for magical density, it refers to the amount of magic present in your soul, ranging in six grades from 'E' to 'A', and then... 'S', though the number of people in history said to have magic of this grade doesn’t exceed ten."
Jung muttered in astonishment, "Oh…"
He remained lost in thought for a long time, considering what Tracy had told him, then asked, his voice full of hope to become a mage: "You mentioned earlier that the Awakening Ceremony is the event where mages in the capital awaken the magic within your soul... if it exists. So, when does this ceremony take place?"
Tracy's smile widened, and she said, "Actually, it's tomorrow... and I also wanted to ask if you would like to accompany me to the capital where it’s held."
Jung’s eyes widened with joy, then he said, "Of course! ... But... by the way, you mentioned earlier that your father was the one who told you about magic and monsters, so he must live with you, but I haven’t seen him so far. Isn’t it dangerous for him to be outside, even if we’re close to the capital?"
Tracy's smile turned sad, and she said, "Actually, he went on a hunting trip a week ago, but he hasn’t returned yet... But I’m sure he’s fine, he’s a strong mage after all."
Jung tried to comfort her: "He’s a mage? Then you’re right, he must be okay."
Tracy said, "Thank you."
Then she stood up and pointed to the sofa on the right, saying: "You can sleep on my father’s couch there... I’ll wake you up tomorrow to go to the Awakening Ceremony... Ah, goodnight."
Tracy headed towards the two adjacent doors and entered the one on the left, closing it quickly.
Jung sighed sadly and thought: 'I really hope her father is okay... His disappearance for a week without notifying his daughter suggests that something serious happened.'
