The Awakening Ceremony continued, and Yumos kept calling the youths to the black house. Some came out of it smiling and excited for the bright future ahead of them, while others emerged holding back tears, their dreams and hopes utterly shattered.
Jung watched all of this with a sorrowful gaze, hoping he wouldn’t be among those whose ambitions were crushed.
Time passed, and soon only Jung and Tracy remained in the garden.
Yumos looked at Tracy and said, "Tracy Villald, it's your turn... Please, follow me."
Tracy, with a nervous and hesitant voice, said to Jung, "I-I guess I’ll go now."
Jung, with a smile on his face, replied, "Alright, good luck... And don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll become a witch."
With these words, Jung aimed to encourage Tracy. He didn’t want to think about what he would say to her if she didn’t become a witch; he was scared of that possibility coming true.
Tracy nodded to Jung with a forced smile, then walked towards Yumos, and they both entered the black house.
The black house was remarkably beautiful inside; it was tidy and clean, with a faint sunlight illuminating it slightly.
Yumos walked ahead of Tracy, leading her to a room at the end of the hallway. The room was somewhat small, containing a table and two luxurious black chairs. Yumos took a seat and gestured for Tracy to sit.
Tracy sat on the chair, waiting anxiously. Her heart was pounding loudly; she was excited at the thought of becoming a witch, yet hesitant and afraid that she might not.
Yumos extended his hand towards Tracy and said, "Please, give me your hand."
Tracy raised her trembling hand and placed it in Yumos’s. To her surprise, his hand was extremely warm.
Yumos closed his eyes and began sending his magic into Tracy's body through her hand. If Tracy’s soul contained any magic, it would react to Yumos’s magic.
Tracy felt something warm enter her body, and she realized it was Yumos’s magic. Her body heated up, growing hotter, until she felt a pleasant sensation rising within her, counteracting the heat.
This pleasant feeling grew stronger and stronger, then she sensed them—the clusters of green particles within her body, interacting with other yellow particles emitting intense heat.
She also felt the presence of other particles. They seemed to be within her body, but not quite; they were in her soul. From there, the green particles flowed into her body.
Because of the sheer number of green and yellow particles, and their minuscule size, they appeared only as glowing lights.
The heat emitted by the yellow light, made of yellow particles, slightly harmed Tracy’s body from within, while the green light, made of green particles, healed that harm.
Suddenly, the yellow light vanished, and Yumos opened his eyes. A small smile appeared on his face as he looked at Tracy.
Yumos said, "Congratulations... It seems the Human Kingdom will have a powerful witch."
Tracy’s face held an expression of disbelief as she stammered, "H-Have I become a witch...?"
Yumos nodded and replied, "Not just that, you’ve become one of the strongest witches... Your density is of grade ‘B’."
Tracy’s eyes widened, and she whispered, "S-So, what is the nature of my magic?"
Yumos smiled. "You should already know the nature of your magic, so why are you asking?"
Tracy spoke with a hint of sadness, "I just wanted to be sure..."
Yumos asked, "Are you not satisfied with the nature of your magic?"
Tracy responded, "I’m sorry, I shouldn’t complain. There are many youths who would wish to be in my place."
The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.
Tracy stood up and bowed slightly to Yumos, saying, "Thank you, Master Yumos."
Yumos replied, "No, I should be thanking you for becoming one of the kingdom’s witches... We have your home address, so we’ll soon send an invitation to attend the Holy Magic Academy. There, you’ll receive lessons on magic and how to control it, after which we’ll welcome you to join the kingdom’s witches."
Yumos rose and continued, "Well, let’s go then..."
Meanwhile, Jung had long since lost his patience.
Jung muttered, "Damn it! What’s going on in there? Why are they taking so long? How did things go for Tracy?"
He didn’t want to think about the possibility of Tracy not becoming a witch because then he wouldn’t be able to face her. He’d rather be swallowed by the ground than confront that.
Suddenly, the door of the black house opened, and out came Yumos and Tracy. Jung raised his head, looking at them with a tense expression.
A small smile appeared on Tracy’s face, and she walked towards Jung.
With a nervous tone and his heart pounding, Jung asked, "So, how did it go?"
In truth, it was clear from the gentle aura emanating from Tracy that she had become a witch, yet Jung still couldn’t relax.
Tracy smiled. "Don’t worry... I’ve become a witch."
Jung exhaled in relief and said with a joyful smile, "Congratulations, I’m happy for you."
Finally, Jung could breathe easily. What he had feared most hadn’t come to pass.
With curiosity, Jung added, "So, what’s the density of your magic, and what nature does it have?"
Tracy, with a happy smile, answered, "My magical density is grade ‘B’, and my magic’s nature is healing."
Tracy’s smile slightly faded when she mentioned the nature of her magic.
Jung consoled her, saying, "I’m sorry you didn’t get the magic nature you wanted."
Tracy replied, "No, it’s fine. I should be grateful that I became a witch."
Yumos, seeing that the two had finished their conversation, said, "Young man Jung, you’re the last one left... So please, follow me."
Jung nodded to Yumos, then said to Tracy, "I’ll see you soon then..."
Tracy replied, "Good luck..."
Now, it was Tracy’s turn to feel what Jung had felt while waiting for her.
Jung nodded. Then, he stepped forward, following Yumos into the black house.
They quickly reached the small room, and both took a seat.
Jung clenched his fists tightly. The moment he had been waiting for had arrived. If he became a sorcerer, he would have the power to make this life different from his previous one. But if he didn’t... perhaps he was destined to live another miserable life.
Jung extended his hand and placed it over Yumos’s, as requested.
Yumos closed his eyes, repeating the same process he had done with Tracy and the others before her.
Hope and fear clashed in Jung’s heart—the hope of becoming a sorcerer and the fear of not. To make things worse, he felt unbearably hot.
This internal conflict reached its peak when Yumos opened his eyes and looked at Jung.
With a sorrowful voice, Yumos said, "I’m sorry, young man, it seems you are not destined to become a sorcerer..."
Yumos had sent his magic into Jung’s body, but unlike Tracy, there was no response.
In that moment, fear overcame hope, and Jung lowered his head.
Jung sighed and thought sadly, 'It seems I’m fated to live a miserable life... I’ll be bullied, tormented... and maybe, I’ll end up committing suicide again, perhaps even getting transported to another world, where I’ll live yet another miserable life, as usual...'
The truth was, Jung had known all along that he wouldn’t become a sorcerer, but he didn’t want to believe it. After all, his soul came from a world without magic, so it was natural for it not to contain magic.
Voooooot. A sudden sound filled the small room, and the only one who reacted to it... was Jung.
Jung raised his head and, with surprise, looked at the glowing blue screen.
Jung thought, 'The system...?'
[ You have received a mission! Accompany Tracy and help her find her father.
Reward: A magical core of lightning nature, grade three, mid-tier. ]
Jung thought in amazement, 'A mission? A magical core? What’s this... A magical core... magic? If I obtain it, maybe I can become a sorcerer somehow... The system is really incredible, how could I have forgotten about it?'
The hope that had vanished from Jung’s heart returned—and with force.
Jung stood and bowed to Yumos, saying, "I’m sorry for wasting your time like this, Master Yumos... Shall we go now?"
Yumos responded, "Young man, don’t give up just because you didn’t become a sorcerer... just keep living with determination."
Jung lifted his head and looked at Yumos. Despite being a powerful sorcerer, he hadn’t been arrogant or looked down on ordinary humans; he was the opposite of what Jung had expected sorcerers to be.
Jung bowed deeper and said, "Thank you, Master Yumos... I’ll take your advice to heart."
Yumos smiled, then said, "Alright, follow me."
Yumos led Jung out of the black house, where Tracy was anxiously waiting.
As soon as Jung exited, Tracy rushed toward him and asked, "How did it go?"
Her anxiety peaked when she saw Jung, as no aura was emanating from him.
Jung walked toward her and said, "Well, it seems I failed..."
With a sorrowful voice, Tracy said, "I am sorry"
Jong said, "Don't worry about that, it was expected... The important thing now is to go and rescue your father, Tracy. Like I said, I have a plan."
