Chapter 3: Tracy

Chapter 3: Tracy

The girl said, "Eight."

There was a hint of fear in her voice. She really didn't want to shoot him, even though if he didn't put on his clothes, he was probably not human.

Jong quickly said, "Wait, I put them on."

Which prompted the girl to ask, "Really?..."

Jong replied, "Yes..."

The girl opened her right eye slightly, and when she saw that he was dressed, she opened both her eyes and then sighed.

Shortly after, she said, "I'm sorry for pointing my rifle at you, but I wasn't sure if you were human. But... why were you wandering in the forest naked?"

The girl's face turned a little red when she asked him why he was naked.

Jong answered shyly, "I'm sorry..."

He didn't give her a reason for being naked because he didn't know either.

Jong thought with fear, 'Why did the system only rebuild my body and not my clothes?... And also, what did she mean when she said she wasn't sure if I was human... Are there also monsters here that disguise themselves as humans? If so, then this really isn't my world, and also, was there a chance I could have been attacked by them while I was here!?'

The girl asked curiously, "Anyway, what were you doing here, and why don't you have a weapon? It might not be useful against strong monsters, but we are still close to the capital, so only weak monsters are here."

Jong replied, "I also don't know what I'm doing here; I just woke up and found myself here."

That was all Jong could say, as he didn't know how to explain it, and also, he didn't want to tell anyone that he wasn't from this world.

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

The girl's eyes widened slightly, and then she said, "You don't know what you're doing here? Could it be because of a Memory Eater? But it's strange..."

Jong asked curiously, "Memory Eater? Strange?"

After giving him a strange look, she replied, "Yes, a Memory Eater is a monster that feeds only on memories, without caring for flesh like other monsters. Since you don't seem injured, I thought it was one... But now that it seems you don't know it, this is likely what happened because the Memory Eater is a common and famous monster... What's strange is that it came here. We are still close to the capital, where many powerful mages reside, who eliminate monsters that get too close. So monsters avoid coming near the capital."

Jong thought with amazement, 'Mages? There are also mages in this world?...'

He also felt excited because maybe there was a chance he could become a mage.

In his world, that would just be a dream. Also, if he became a powerful mage, then he might be able to ensure that this life wouldn't be like the previous one... miserable.

After thinking for a bit, Jong asked curiously, "So, are you also a mage?"

The girl replied with a hopeful tone, "No, I'm not... But I might become one if I succeed in the Awakening Ceremony."

Jong asked with even more curiosity, "Awakening Ceremony?"

The girl replied with a tone of anticipation, "Yes, in the Awakening Ceremony, the mages in the capital awaken the dormant magic in your soul... that is, if it exists."

Jong pondered what she said, then asked, "If it exists? So there are people who don't have magic in their souls?"

The girl replied sadly, "Yes..."

She was sad for those who didn't have it, and she might be one of them.

The girl raised her head, looking at the sky, and said, "Darkness is approaching; we should go. The truly dangerous monsters appear at this time. Since you probably don't remember where your home is either, come with me to my house... if you want."

The girl bowed her head, her face slightly red.

Then she looked at Jong and added, "By the way, my name is Tracy, and you?"

Jong said with a smile, "My name is Jong, and I'm also sorry for asking so many questions."

Then he thought, 'A Memory Eater, what a great cover. Thanks to it, no one will suspect that I know nothing about this world... Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to explain myself to them.'

Jong understood well that even if he told them he wasn't from this world, no one would believe him.

Tracy said, "It's okay, it's the least I can do for you since you were attacked by a Memory Eater... Well, let's go, please follow me."

Then she turned and walked eastward.
