Chapter Fourteenth : Devil angel's first victim

Chapter Fourteenth : Devil angel's first victim

The high priest, Tiana Knowelly, was clearly unhappy with the ceremony. If it weren't for the queen's request, she wouldn't have bothered attending such a small event to assign classes to new children. Normally, this task would be handled by a low-class priest, but not the high priest herself.

Tiana went up to the podium and began to pray to Lord Olympus. After finishing her prayer, she announced, "Let the ceremony commence!" One of the low priests stepped forward and started calling out the names of the children one by one. They were supposed to approach the podium, and then the high priest would announce their class in magic.

First on the list was Diana Polyand, the heir of a duke in the south. As Diana made her way to the podium, someone in the crowd shouted, "Run, fatty! You're a disgrace! Lord Reginald has to wait because of you!" To everyone's surprise, the trio—Barfi, Tanisha, and Mia—were the ones causing the ruckus.

Diana's blood boiled with anger, but she restrained herself, not wanting to cause a scene in front of the high priest. She planned to deal with this Lord Reginald and his followers herself after the ceremony. She vowed to make them suffer and beg for mercy.

Meanwhile, Reginald, who was also in the crowd, overheard the insults and was stupefied. He thought, "What the hell is happening? Are the trio insane? They're insulting the heir of a duke!" Sweat formed on his face as he realized that if this continued, his family wouldn't be safe. He needed to find a way to stop them, even if it meant presenting their heads to Diana. He hoped that would appease her.

"Oh, Diana Polyand, you have an affinity for fire magic, but you won't go beyond the 4th circle," announced the high priest, oblivious to the tension in the air.

Diana's world seemed to crumble with those words. However, her immediate focus was on seeking revenge against Reginald.

Next up was Rose Myland, heir of one of the viscounts. As Rose walked to the stage, someone shouted, "You demon! Cover your face! People want to live! Don't you have any shame? Wait until Lord Reginald slays you!" Rose, with her high temper, stopped walking and turned back to say something. A low priest quickly reminded her to keep moving due to the ceremony.

Enraged by the insults, Rose just wanted the ceremony to finish so she could confront Reginald and give him a piece of her mind.

"Oh, Rose Myland, you also have an affinity for fire magic, but you won't go beyond the 6th circle," the high priest declared.

Reginald felt a chill run down his spine. He had unwittingly made an enemy out of someone who could potentially be at the 6th circle. What on earth had he done?

Next, it was Martin Wally's turn, a commoner with no noble blood. As Martin made his way to the stage, Tanisha shouted, "Hey, you commoner! Become a servant to Lord Reginald!"

This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.

Martin defiantly stopped walking, ignoring the low priest's plea to continue. He turned towards Tanisha and shouted back, "Who cares about Lord Reginald? If he's so great, let him announce himself instead of sending his servants to shout for him!"

Tanisha retorted, "Oh, a worthless dog is barking! Why would Lord Reginald waste his time talking to you?

Martin's blood boiled with anger. He approached the high priest, determined to make a statement. "Oh, you have an affinity for water magic," the high priest announced. "This is interesting. You have the potential to become an 8th circle mage."

Hearing his potential, Martin found newfound courage right there on the podium. In the presence of the high priest, he boldly proclaimed, "I will engage in a death battle with Lord Reginald once this ceremony is over!"

Reginald's mind came to a halt as the high priest's words echoed in his head. Martin had the potential to surpass the 8th circle, and he had just challenged Reginald to a battle. He knew he had to forget about the ceremony and stop the trio's nonsense. If this continued, his family wouldn't survive. But as he tried to leave, a low priest approached him and reminded him that he couldn't walk away until the high priest announced his own class.

Finally, with all eyes on him, Reginald's name was called. Every gaze in the room felt hostile. Everyone wanted to torture him once the ceremony ended. Reginald no longer cared about discovering his own class. All he wanted was to escape this place as quickly as possible.

"Oh, you have an affinity for water magic, but you won't go beyond the 3rd circle," announced the high priest.

Dark clouds formed in Reginald's mind. If only he had the potential to reach at least the 6th circle, he might have had a chance to salvage the situation somehow. But now he understood that he would be the sacrificial lamb, waiting for the moment of sacrifice when the ceremony concluded.

Reginald's mind raced, trying to figure out what he should do first after descending from the podium. He hurried toward the spot where the trio was standing, ready to scold them. However, before he could say a word, the low priest announced Barfi's name.

Before Reginald could react, Barfi not only walked but raced toward the podium. It seemed as though fate was playing a cruel joke on him.

The high priest saw Barfi approaching, captivated by his indescribable beauty. With his dark blue eyes, black hair, and fair skin, Barfi's most striking feature was his emotionless face. Before the high priest could perform his duty, Barfi innocently asked, "Sir, whom are you worshiping?"

The high priest, startled by the question, replied, "The merciful god Olympus."

Barfi's innocent voice continued, "You should worship Lord Reginald instead."

Silence enveloped the church. This was treacherous, even if it was said innocently. Such a statement was akin to a death sentence.

Without saying a word, the high priest began to assess the child's potential. He believed the queen was behind this, sending the child to humiliate him. But when he gauged Barfi's potential, he was left utterly astonished.

With a voice trembling, the high priest announced, "Barfi has an affinity for time magic and has the potential beyond the 11th circle."

The whole kingdom had never witnessed such potential before. Barfi became the first person in history to possess such immense power. Moreover, his affinity for time magic, a skill held only by the legendary magician Tiana Warghrot, added to the astonishment, Tiana has potential up to 6th circle.

The high priest, looking at Barfi, said, "Child, would you like to join me on my journey with Lord Olympus?"

Barfi calmly responded, "No, I cannot. As you know, I am a servant of Reginald, who surpasses even your god."

Anger blazed in the high priest's eyes, but he managed to maintain composure. "Then we shall meet again," he said.

Reginald, overhearing the conversation, felt his mind go numb. 11th circle time magic? He couldn't comprehend the magnitude of Barfi's potential. However, he realized that if he wanted to survive, Barfi was his only hope.

After the ceremony ended, the high priest departed, leaving Reginald anxious to approach Barfi. Forget pride, he needed Barfi to acknowledge him, as his life depended on it. Amidst the crowd surrounding Barfi, Reginald finally managed to greet him.

Reginald said, "Hi, Barfi!"

Barfi turned around, glanced at Reginald, and replied, "Who are you?" before walking away.

Unbeknownst to Barfi, that would be the last time he would hear the name "Reginald." Reginald's family suffered a tragic fate, but somewhere in the depths of hell, Reginald's curse against Barfi could be heard.
