Today was a Tuesday on Earth. In Elysium “Tuesdays” were the days that Freya and her battle sister Inari spent the whole day usually eating, or visiting Earth and human watching. Well really, they would enter an unoccupied human home and watch human television and shows.
For some odd reason they really enjoyed the shows in the “true crime drama” and would drink wine, tea, and eat Elysium snacks that Freya provided. Today was one such day and the two wanted to enjoy their last Tuesday before the universe froze officially for the Tryfing.
The human home they occupied today was one that they had been using the last few weeks. The humans had been on vacation and the home was quite spacious, with a nice fluffy couch the two deities loved to lounge on. Not to mention the huge tv the humans had in their living room.
As the two watched this week's special, “The Crimes of Morgan”, Inari noticed that Freya wasn’t acting as she usually did. “Do you believe this sicko is still alive? A lifetime imprisonment,” Inari said. Freya just moaned and gave a sound of agreement.
Pausing the show by pointing her finger at the tv, Inari got up from the couch and grabbed Freya’s face. She squished her cheeks and made her lips pucker like a fish.
“Hey!”
Freya pushed her off. Inari laughed, also losing her footing in the process. “My sister, what is the matter with you?” Yes, sister. That was what Inari called Freya, the two had always been together since the dawn of deity hood. Inari loved to watch Freya and her twin do battle with their enemies, she would provide them with support by sharpening their weapons and healing. They protected her and gave her the thrill and love of battle she yearned for.
Eventually, Freya saved Inari and Inari in turn saved Freya, causing the two to create a pact. Eternal battle sisters. The eternal pact of battle was a sacred pact that deities and some angels would do with one another, it was the ultimate form of loyalty and showed the devotion one had to the other.
It was a pact that was not to be given out lightly. Achilles for example had many battle brothers but those bonds were sacred and to be asked by Achilles himself to make a pact was a high honor. Freya had only ever done this pact with Inari, because she was the only battle sister she needed.
That was one of the many things Freya complained to Achilles; to Freya, who only needed Inari, she didn’t understand why Achilles needed to do something so sacred with so many others. Didn’t that dilute what the eternal pact stood for? Wouldn’t Patroclus, Achilles first battle brother feel a certain way? Or maybe it was because it was disrespecting the sacred legacy of the pact that God had created for the deities.
Looking back now after knowing God abandoned her, she felt so stupid. All the small and petty things she chastised and complained to Achilles about had pushed him away. For the last few years she blamed God, Lucifer, and Achilles for how she felt, and the events of the Great Rebellion.
But after seeing Charlie and seeing how he understood his issues… and knew he was the problem. How he decided to change, even if to Freya it seemed too late for Charlie. He had killed himself and the only reason he was able to get this opportunity was because the Tryfing was going on at same time…
Now that Freya thought about it, it didn’t make sense that Charlie was even in the system. His soul was far too weak to be able to enter the Fantasia world, and it was that reason that she needed Freyr to train him and get him into shape.
Yet, despite all that adversity and doubt that everyone around him was giving him (her and Achilles included), he stood up and made the effort to change. And now he had entered the Fantasia world with a new found confidence.

Charlie’s presence made Freya reflect on her entire existence. All of her issues were not caused solely by Lucifer. It was her fault, her anger at God ignoring her and her unable to understand those feelings. Then lashing out at everyone and deciding to just be “lazy” and have others do her work for her.
“What was the point?”
That was what she told herself and how she pushed Achilles away. Honestly, it would have pushed Inari away too had they not done the pact together. They both knew it, yet Inari stayed and listened to the venting and rants of the Norse twin deity.
Freya knew she was a horrible sister, a horrible deity, and a horrible lover. She would have probably taken her life or thrown her life away during the Great Rebellion had Freyr and Inari not been in her life.
“I just… I don't want to be like this anymore, Inari. I want Achilles to see the Freya before the rebellion. I want to be worthy of the title of Norse twin deity, of Charlie’s retainer, and of your sister. These thoughts have been racking my brain since I met Charlie and Achilles tried to stop me from making him my retainer.”
She stared into her palms and then covered her face with them as tears flew from her eyes. Yes, it was all starting to make sense to her. She had entered the Tryfing with a strong determination to make sure Inari was the winner.
But the more time passed, the more she realized the current Freya wasn’t good enough to make that goal a reality. Freyr was the one that was doing all the work and coming up with all the plans. And Achilles had tried to stop her from picking Charlie.
To Freya, it wasn’t that Charlie was weak, no she thought it was because Achilles didn’t trust or believe Freya could train and provide for Charlie, and that’s why he wanted to break the two up.
And here she was complaining and crying again to Inari. The deity that was so much more stronger than she could ever hope to be. And she wasn’t even a fighter! She wanted to tell her so badly that she wanted to help her win but she knew Inari wouldn’t accept that. She needed Charlie to convince Sanosuke to the alliance.
Just another thing she needed to rely on someone else to do for her. And it made it worse how much Charlie yearned to do it and make her happy. Inari hugged Freya, another common occurrence between the two.
“There there, sister.” She patted Freya's head; the comfort from Inari’s fur always made Freya feel better.
“Do you think.. do you think it’s too late to change?” Freya asked, using the fur around Inari’s hair as a tissue.
Inari paused and thought for a few seconds. “I do not think so, my sister but understand… that sometimes others don’t wait for us.”
Freya's eyes looked down after Inari’s words. She thought about Achilles and then thought about Damaris, God’s favorite angel. Her hands clenched in anger. Inari placed her hands on her, relieving the tension that Freya held.
“Jealousy is not the answer, sister, you can change but you need to fight these emotions and doubts you are going through. You should wait for your retainer, from what you told me he is doing the same. Support each other like a battle pact. He’s already helped you so much and he still can." She had a beautiful smile that calmed Freya.
Inari was right, as she usually was when dealing with Freya. Charlie took the critical first step, and Freya was in the process of doing hers. She still had her issues of abandonment to deal with and she knew pinning the blame on Damaris was what the old Freya would have done.
“I just really miss them… I miss Father…I miss being with Achilles… I miss being the Norse deity I used to be.”
Inari grabbed Freya by the chin again and squeezed it comically “You already started, sister, I can see it. After all… I’m your eternal battle sister.”
She placed her hands on her hips and steam came out of her nose; she looked quite proud of herself and laughed “ho ho”. This caused Freya to smile and laugh as well.
“Oh, that reminds me! I need to properly thank Achilles for the godsend he gave Kento… Want to come?” She had a mischievous fox like grin on her face. Freya turned bright red “Nooo! It’s okay, I don’t want to see him or Damaris right now.”
Inari booed at Freya and sat back on the couch. “Let’s get back to th–”
Just then the door opened and the human family of five stood with their mouths opened at the two strangers in their house. Freya and Inari didn’t move, instead they started to sweat and internally freak out.
“Prep the mind wipe spell!” whispered Inari from the corner of her mouth. Freya's fingers started to move wildly as she spoke in old Norse simultaneously. The human wife started to attack Inari, Freya, and her husband, thinking for some reason he was cheating on her.

Elysium
Main Island
Achilles and Damaris were speaking with a few angels regrading some Tryfing issues they were dealing with. It had something to do with the studio they were using for the ETV broadcast.
“Ah there you are Judge Achilles!” Inari ran to the group, she hadn’t noticed Damaris at first until she reached them.
“Lady Inari, what can we help you with?” Achilles asked.
“Oh nothing, I just came by to thank you for the godsend you gave us. It truly is a magnificent weapon.” She side-eyed Damaris and then leaned into Achilles, kissing him on the cheek. She bowed and scurried off, covering her mouth with her hand.
“Wha—why did Inari kiss you! Why did you let her?!” Damaris screamed with a red face, which matched Achilles’ red face.
“I…I what?!” Achilles' perplexed face just annoyed Damaris even more and she pouted at him and walked off. Inari laughed like a mischievous trickster as she covered her face, the sly fox wanted to cause just a little bit of chaos.
She had wanted to slightly annoy the ones causing Freya her unwanted worries, then again… maybe this would just make her even more jealous. But it was all in good fun, and in Inari's mind was about “defending” Freya and getting back at the two. Yes, it was childish!
But… Freya was her eternal battle sister.
