Chapter 9 – The Key 04?

Chapter 9 – The Key 04?

Maria was assigned as Aria's head maid, and since she started taking care of her, Aria's abilities began to develop much faster.

This brought a lot more attention to the house where Aria was growing up.

It didn't take long for their allocated budget to increase. Over time, a rumor started to spread, and everyone began to assume that Maria was some kind of angel the supervisor had found to guide Aria.

A rumor the supervisor herself had spread among several maids for her own personal future plans.

Externally, everything seemed to be going wonderfully for Maria, but in reality...

"Aria, don't walk barefoot in the room!"

"Aria, stay still while I comb your hair..."

"Aria, eat your food properly. You might choke."

"Aria, don't leave books lying around!"

"But isn't it your job to pick them up for me?"

Aria replied disinterestedly as she read a book with illustrations about how magic works.

Aria was right.

She was paid to guide, take care of, and clean up all the messes Aria made.

And while Aria was absolutely right...

When had she become so insensitive!?

Maria was astonished by the pace at which Aria was learning, but at the same time, the expression in her eyes...

It wasn't the expression of a two-year-old!

"Aria... you're right, but I have feelings, you know? It would help me a lot if you didn't leave books just anywhere and if you yourself were a considerate person..."

"I'll tell Aunt Lucia to lower your salary"

Aria interrupted Maria's moralistic speech.

This left Maria speechless for a moment, but she immediately fell to her knees and begged for mercy.

"No, please, Aria! Anything but that..."

This girl was already a monster.

A heartless monster in the guise of a child.

Aria, who was lying on her bed, turned around to face away from Maria and continued reading her book.

"So that's where I went wrong..."

Aria said quietly as she analyzed the book in detail.

[Error. Magic cannot be used, Key 04 is required]

Now, the messages that appeared in front of her had more details.

Aria sighed in frustration when she saw that, no matter how hard she tried, her hands couldn't gather mana.

"Seriously... What the hell is Key 04?"

Aria got up from the bed and tossed the book behind her, not caring where it landed.

If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

Sitting at a small wooden table where an open notebook lay, Aria began to work on a math problem.

[Simple math exercises... high likelihood of completing them without errors]

Aria started solving each of the problems.

[Exercise successfully solved]

[Exercise successfully solved]

[Exercise successfully solved]

[Exercise successfully solved]

[There is an error]

Aria sighed in frustration.

When that message appeared, it meant she had done something wrong, but...

That warning didn't tell her what she had done wrong!

So, trying to solve that last exercise...

[There is an error]

[There is an error]

[There is an error]

[There is an error]

"Stupid problem!"

Aria shouted in frustration as she threw the tool she was writing with.

"Maria..."

Aria tried to find Maria, but she wasn't in the room.

"Seriously... Where did you go?"

◇◆◇

Maria had left Aria's room to get some fresh air outside and get away from her for a while.

"Seriously... that girl is beyond help"

Maria muttered as she walked through the garden of the small mansion.

It was so liberating for Maria not to be confined in that small room with that little demon.

Maria bent down, her gaze fixed on a small yellow flower that was wilting.

"Don't die..."

Maria focused for a few seconds and used magic to summon a bit of water, which fell onto the flower.

Once her spell was finished, Maria glanced around to make sure no one had seen her use magic.

Luckily... no one had witnessed it.

Maria let out a sigh of relief.

"Lucky..."

Maria stood up and stretched her back.

"Cheer up, little one. I guess I have to give my best too," Maria said, frowning as she tried to encourage herself with that speech.

◇◆◇

"Maria!"

Aria shouted in annoyance upon seeing her come in through the door.

"Where were you?"

"I went out to... ask them to prepare something for you"

Maria quickly improvised, and Aria's expression changed.

There was a small smile on her face!

Aria looked like a real child when she smiled like that.

"So what are we waiting for? Why don't we go down?"

Aria's tone was filled with excitement.

Maria, on the other hand, started to sweat.

The truth was, she had gone straight to the room and had no idea if they had actually prepared something in the kitchen for her, so if they got there and there was nothing...

Aria would be very upset!

"Aria... What if you wait and I check if...?"

"Let's go."

Aria was already behind her and had opened the door.

That girl was an entirely different thing when it came to food.

Maria let out a nervous laugh, and her heart raced as she watched Aria start to run.

"Aria, don't run down the stairs!"

Maria shouted in concern as she watched Aria descend the stairs carelessly.

Just one step.

She was one step away from everything she had achieved going to waste if Aria fell down the stairs and got hurt.

But luckily...

Aria was fine!

"Why can't you go down the stairs like a normal person?"

Maria asked tearfully as she finished descending the stairs.

The stairs Aria had come down were spiral-shaped, and the handrails wouldn't be able to protect her if she fell to the side.

But luckily, nothing had happened.

"It's fun to move around"

Aria said with a smile as she looked around, searching for the kitchen.

"Seriously... Couldn't you wait for me upstairs?"

Maria had dried her tears and followed Aria's steps.

"Being alone upstairs is boring. Besides, I don't understand why they still won't let me go outside..."

Aria expressed with some annoyance, but her expression changed when she saw the food the maids were preparing.

Cheese-filled bread.

Maria, on the other hand, breathed a sigh of relief.

She had lucked out again!

"Oh, if it isn't the princess of the house!"

Suddenly shouted a lady whose voice Aria recognized.

"Lucia!"

Aria shouted with a big smile as Lucia approached her for a hug.

"How's everything? Is Maria treating you well?"

Lucia asked with a big smile as she began to hold Aria.

Aria glanced at Maria, and she gave a thumbs-up gesture.

"She... treats me well."

"Really?"

"Yes, but she's very strict. She doesn't let me go out when I want, nor does she let me go outside, and she's very serious about what I eat."

Lucia burst into laughter and turned her gaze towards Maria.

"I promise we'll fix that soon."

But those are the orders you gave me!

That's what Maria wanted to shout, but she couldn't disrespect her supervisor.

Lucia continued to charm Aria and offered her several pieces of the bread that were on the table.

Aria accepted them without thinking and began to eat voraciously.

"Another one!"

"Give me another!"

Aria demanded while she still had food in her mouth.

Lucia shot a look, and Maria let out a long sigh.

"Aria... that's enough."

Aria frowned, but stopped eating.

She didn't want to hear another lecture from Maria after indulging in such delicacies.

Lucia put Aria down and asked her:

"Did you already solve the exercises I gave you?"

"Of course, but it seems like the last one... I just can't grasp it"

Aria said, annoyed, and Lucia's eyes widened.

"So, you didn't make mistakes in the others?"

"No"

Aria replied without hesitation.

Lucia was delighted to hear those words.
