Chapter 6 – Stroke of Luck

Chapter 6 – Stroke of Luck

"At first, Aria found it difficult to concentrate on reading due to her hunger, but the illustration in the book managed to capture her attention and make the process more bearable.

The needs of her physical body were bothersome, and she couldn't find a way to completely ignore them.

Perhaps with time, she would get used to it. And if so... how long would it take?

Just as she was starting to read comfortably, that annoying message appeared again.

Anger and annoyance invaded her thoughts, but she managed to dissipate them by trying to focus on her reading again.

Aria didn't understand anything, but she enjoyed trying to decipher the information that she found interesting.

There was an adult human in the book who had black wings on his back and small fangs protruding from his mouth. His appearance was striking, and the page explained several of his characteristics, as well as gave advice on how to avoid them.

Aria didn't give up and tried to read the book several times to find a part she could understand.

María, on the other hand, was grateful to the gods because she had been saved.

The baby was showing interest in books!

If the baby couldn't speak, it wouldn't be a problem, since babies at that age usually take time to develop language.

Everyone would understand if the baby couldn't repeat the same words she had said before 'to her.'

Now, no one would suspect a thing. It was a perfect plan!

The supervisor, on the other hand, was eager to see what the baby would learn from her reading.

Several minutes passed until the maid who had left earlier finally entered the room.

"I brought the books!" Rita said as she placed several books on the floor.

"Shhh! Don't make noise. Don't interrupt her," the supervisor whispered.

Aria was completely focused on reading the book since the annoying message that had been blocking her vision had finally disappeared.

Among all the words in the book, there was one that she finally recognized.

Hunger.

Aria tried to murmur that word but failed.

All the women present approached in silence as Aria continued to try to say that word while remembering how others pronounced it.

If she managed to say it, she would be one step closer to getting food whenever she wanted!

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

"Hunger..." Aria finally managed to say as she pointed to the part of the book that contained that word.

So adorable! Thought all the maids who witnessed it for a second.

"She can read out loud!" the supervisor exclaimed in awe as she saw the passage Aria was pointing to.

It matched what Aria was saying!

The passage she was pointing to said the following: When vampires are 'hungry,' they seek...

Aria pointed to the word 'hunger' with her finger as she repeated that word over and over again.

Some might find this annoying, but for them, it had a different meaning.

María felt blessed by the gods. Her lie was turning into truth through sheer luck!

The supervisor hoped she would say another word, but Aria insisted on repeating the same word over and over again while furrowing her brow slightly.

On the other hand, Rita felt that her instincts were telling her that something was wrong.

This had to be a coincidence!

It was impossible for the baby she had been taking care of for so long to have this ability, and it was surprising that it was precisely María, a new worker, who had the luck of the baby asking for exactly that from her!

Why didn't she go to one of the other maids, who had also taken care of her diligently?

What about the main maid who left a few weeks ago and didn't report any of this?

This was absurd!

The more she thought about how things were unfolding, the more doubts she had.

The chances of something like this happening were nonexistent!

But unfortunately, Rita had no proof to refute María's claims.

Or maybe María was really telling the truth, and she was the skeptic one?

"I think she's very hungry..." María said in a low voice as she observed Aria, astonished.

In Rita's eyes, María looked foolish and absent-minded.

In fact, how did someone like her get this job?

As she questioned several things, Rita soon heard a voice.

"Rita! Go get food for the girl. Officially, she's no longer a baby, she's a little girl now," the excited supervisor said.

In the supervisor's mind, she could already imagine the possible internal struggle this girl would cause in the family.

The girl exceeded her expectations! But she could go even further with her.

Apart from Aria, the supervisor was informed that the master had another girl the same age, who was very obedient and showed outstanding abilities.

From her point of view, Aria was more impressive, as she had achieved it on her own.

If she was guided, she would probably progress faster and become a monster!

A monster that would bring her a lot of money.

"Are you still here? Go get the food!" the supervisor scolded when she saw Rita standing there doing nothing.

"I'll be right back!"

Hurrying out of the room, Rita cursed María, as she was starting to envy her.

María, on the other hand, reached out her arms to pick up Aria.

"Easy... you'll soon get food to satisfy your hunger. I promise," María said affectionately. However, she soon felt how Aria tried to tug at the top of her uniform.

"What are you doing!?" María exclaimed in surprise as she pulled Aria away.

The supervisor, on the other hand, was calculating her next moves.

Her doubts about the girl's ability were partially resolved now. It was time to see what her limit would be.

One of her priorities would be to try to speak with Aria's father, who had abandoned her a long time ago.

If she managed to showcase this girl's achievements to others, access to the main mansion would become a reality!

For now, she had to spread the rumor that the girl was a genius among all the maids so that the master had no choice but to personally verify the rumor.

The supervisor would send reports, but they would likely be ignored because most of the attention in the main mansion was focused on the other girl.

In an extreme case where the family completely ignored Aria's talent, there was the whole world!

Who wouldn't want a genius?

As long as the girl grew fond of her, her future was more than secure.

At this moment, she had to make the most of all the resources and invest them in Aria.

Rita opened the door again, bringing a glass bottle filled with milk.

"Give it to me!" María exclaimed desperately as she grabbed it and handed it to Aria.

The hungry and potential future genius of the family had finally calmed down.
