The town of Windensburg welcomes its visitors from the mansion of Theodore in rows of vehicles parked just outside the stone gate. The honored guests step down in all their gorgeous outfits with distinctive designs that truly make the ladies and gentlemen of the mansion stand out from the crowd. Accompanying them tonight are the pure excitement and joyfulness that all shine upon their smiles... Within groups, they soon participate in the lively festival.
This summer event no doubt lives up to one's expectations and is completely the opposite of its usual appearance. The vivid town is now bathed in sparkling lights and floral decoration. Lines of flowers being tied into bouquets and knots cover the city. The sounds of the busy streets, music, and laughter, all together create such a lighthearted feeling. The festival has brought miracles to this city. Nothing in this world can bother the magical thrill they are having now.
What a "feast" for all the senses!
Hands in hand, they dive into the diverse array of stalls. The girls with the flower crown explore the stall full of accessories and jewelry. While others find interest in launching the darts for prizes and competing to be the best, Sheritre eagerly takes a bite of her apple candy and says, "It would be great if the festival was held every day." Now changing into a navy dress, Sheritre looks quite different from usual. Though her taste is not normal, all kinds of flowers and pins are put in her hair. Sheritre, on the other hand, is an absolutely lovely maiden. Her silver eyes sparkled right at the moment the sweetness of sugar-filled her mouth. "Indeed, then everyone would be happy," Lily responds with a nod. What's surprising is that the one who should be chaotic now falls into deep silence. Silently, it seems like Cecil's mind has traveled somewhere far away. It's not hard for them to realize what problems their dear friend has. They know what her eyes are searching for. Pitifully, he is nowhere to be seen, gone as quickly as the wind. Apparently, she can't help but let out a deep sigh. Seeing the difference between the two, she tried to cover it up with a laugh, "There is a treat I want to try." She dragged the two away, "Let's go." That's right, he has things to take care of... and she... just some typical girl passing by his life.
Ad astra per aspera... amor manet
Soon the stars will align, tying two fates into one, Cecil. Sheritre takes another bite of her apple.
Is it because it was planned or because it happened by chance? But somehow, the only one left beside Theodore is none other than Alderic himself. The usual messy hair has been brushed back, while a few still fall on his forehead. Contrary to other fancy clothing, Alderic still goes with the simple white blouse, though this time instead of the open collar, he ties it with a black ribbon. The atmosphere of the festival has chased away the distant walls surrounding Alderic. For him, this is perhaps the first time he has ever been to an event that overwhelms him with joy. Every moment spent here already creates such memorable memories. The man enjoys the newfound sensation with the eagerness of a child, who has had the sweetest time in his life. Before Theodore could even say any words, Alderic had already grabbed both of his wrists, demanding, "Hurry! There is a food stall over there that I have to try." Truth be told, it's rare to see this side of Alderic, a goofy boy who just wants all the happiness in the world. Theodore sure sees a thousand stars sparked inside those emerald pupils. He decided not to withhold any longer, allowing Alderic to guide him. Feeling at ease, a relieved smile painted, "Sure!"
The pair dashes over to the grill stall, which is displaying a variety of skewers, from mini octopus to colorful vegetables, all glazed in a special sauce that has already drawn their stomachs. Alderic and Theodore both picked some for themselves. The savory and rich embrace their taste buds in a pleasant way. They then take a stroll to the next stop, the candy stall. Oh, this must be a dream for sweet tooths with quite a selection of lollipops and gummies. All are delicacies of Windensburg. Theodore casually picked one of the lollipops in a human shape. What's more, it somehow resembles the figure of the man before him. "Hey, Alderic," "This looks exactly like you." Alderic lazily shifted his focus, until he was abruptly stuffed in the mouth. The poor man alters his expressions like a wheel at full speed, from nothing to shocked, and eventually ends up with a fire burning in his eyes, "Prepare for my fury, Theodore!" The crime-maker absolutely could not hide his laugh, only fueling the anger further. Actually, a second later, they both have a fight.
Then a certain something catches Theodore's attention. Among the hustle and bustle of the crowd, a gem lies silently, awaiting its master. A simple necklace with a sun emerald pendant. The pendant must be bearing miracles inside, calling Theodore to its sight. The emerald rays glow under the dim lights of the candles. Such dazzling beauty, like the sunlight shining through the dark alley. Just like the color of him, making Theodore unable to look away. Theodore can't help but caress the pendant. Strange...It even carried his warmth... The emerald pendant shines softly in his hand... So tenderly, yet fiercely like the glance of him. The invisible force from the necklace captures all of Theodore's attention until the vendor cheerfully greets them, "You have remarkable taste, my guest." "The necklace in your hand is one of a kind." With no intent to waste any minutes, the vendor continues his story, "Emerald, the King of gems. "Its graceful beauty will make you very proud." The vendor is right, emeralds have always been so noble. However, deep down, Theodore can taste the bitterness.
Why?
"You seem to like this one, Dr," says Alderic, lowering his head to observe the necklace. Theodore stares at the necklace silently, his navy eyes falling in concentration. After a while, he sighs, "It should belong to you, Alderic. "Don't confine it to rules and prejudices," Theodore said softly, "Because it meant to be free to explore the world." Theodore's answer surely sends Alderic into astonishment. For the first time, words couldn't escape from his trembling lips. What Theodore says is abstract and enigmatic but somehow touches Alderic's heart. Like the refreshing water that finally washed away his barren land, Alderic smiled gratefully at the man next to him. A many first times in a night. "What keen eyes," the vendor remarks, tears streaming down her cheeks as she gazes at the pair. "The necklace and the brooch are a pair." A velvet box was carefully put in front of them. A sapphire brooch in the shape of a north star lies. The soft navy rays blend with the graceful beauty of emerald, bringing a surreal match. Before Theodore can decide, Alderic has already taken a step forward. Treating it like a fragile crystal, the long fingers carefully lifted Theo's auburn hair, revealing his charming neck. The warmth from Alderic's finger lingered on his skin, sending a light tremble. A kind of sensation Theodore was never aware of. All he did was put on the emerald necklace, yet Theodore feels like hours have passed by. Taking a good look at his work, Alderic smiles, "Just like I thought." He caresses the pendant, saying, "It suits you perfectly."

Under the dim light, the sight of Theodore trying to look away shyly is all that Alderic cares about. His navy eyes sparked just like a true sapphire, shining dazzlingly. And now those gems only look at him with all their tenderness. The long auburn hair was neatly tied, touching his gracious lips, some falling on his neck where the necklace rested. Having realized he has been staring at Theodore for quite a while, Alderic tries to cover up. "Then may I ask for your help?" Alderic lowers his head. Carefully, Theodore takes the brooch out of the box. The blush on his face was even deeper the moment his fingertips touched the warmth on Alderic's chest. What if everyone could hear his noisy heart? But what can he do? At this distance, he can sense the faint signature sandalwood scent lying on his hair. The sapphire brooch stays where it belongs as if it were born for Alderic
Together they shine brightly... For they will never be separated again.
The festival has soon come to its second phase. With the call from the event director, everyone gathered around the lantern stalls placed across the town. From the flower patterns to the childish drawings, they asked for love and to be loved. Cecil and the rest are also ready for the lanterns, despite seeming lost in the swarm. The smiles and giggles fill all the streets. "Why do you choose the star, Sheritre?" A curious nurse wondered. Sheritre replies with a grin, "Of course, stars are my friends too." Others follow, "Oh, I love your leaf pattern. Are you wishing for good health?" They are all curious about each other's wishes. "Then Cecil, why do you choose the crescent moon?" Sheritre asks, in doubt. Only to get back a sad smile from Cecil. As for Theodore and Alderic, they stand at the edge of the square, looking around. Luckily, Alderic had brought the lanterns for both. While our doctor picked the doves, he was already holding the oak tree pattern. The only thing left is to choose their wishes. And when their eyes unintentionally come together, they start giggling.
"Greetings to everyone, and thank you for joining the festival. As a tradition, now, it is time for the annual lantern festival. To the stars, we yearn for hope. Let the light, be our guide." The most-awaited moment finally comes, with everyone lifting the lantern in their hands all at once. One by one, the sky lanterns leave their hands, carrying hopes on the journey to the promised land. They lean against the gentle wind, painting the sky in such a stunning display, lighting up as if thousands of stars were glistering and shining through the starry night. Cecil raises her head. Here above her is the scene of a thousand lanterns, embracing her vision. How powerful was the scene enough to crack tears of joy, rolling down her cheeks. Holding the trembling hands to her heart, she whispers, "Wherever you are, I hope you will find your way home soon." Each of them is filled with the power of love. In tears, everyone held each other's hands, singing. For Theodore, being here is a privilege. His eyes hungered to catch every moment in his memories. A soft smile crept across his face. But Theodore is not the only one trying to capture every moment. The beautiful scene is remarkable to him, yet, turning around, the soft figure of Theodore has taken away his gaze. The sight of him bathed in the dim light. This night, will stay with him till the end of this life.
Now to the fun part, the dancing. As a way to celebrate the flame of love and friendship. Through hearts and souls, they dance in unison. The ladies cheerfully swing their dresses while, on the other hand, the men knock their shoes on the floor, creating a sparkling atmosphere. Alderic surely won't miss the chance to chime in. He did not forget to drag Theodore along with the team. The town band gives their best performance yet, with several local instruments filling the air with a rustic sound. Apparently, folk songs are their expertise. When the performance comes to an end, thousands of flower petals falling from the sky combine with the lanterns in the night sky. Bowing at each other, the dance finished in joy. Sweat was visible on their faces, but the smile never faded away.
The lively music is now replaced by a slower, more intimate tune. The melodious voice of the violins creates a romantic feeling. "May I have a dance with you?" The navy eyes sparkle in the light. Smiling, Alderic bowed at Theodore, "Your wish is my command." With full confidence, Alderic held Theodore's hand while the other rested at his waist. Being in his arms, Theodore can feel that slight trembling in his heart. Tonight, Theodore indeed learned lots of new things about Alderic. From his childishness to the fact that he is a decent dancer. Though he has been trained in a few moves by the Teacher, Alderic's skills are still impressive. Alderic effortlessly harmonizes Theodore with his pace. Tonight, he felt something different. The violin and cello erase the boundary between fantasy and reality. As if there were only them, alone, in this endless dream. With adornment, the determined emerald eyes fixed on him. Alderic tightens the grip on Theodore's waist, intoxicating Theodore with this flame of passion. Music leads their steps.
If only time could stop at this moment...
Alderic suddenly lowers his head to Theodore's ear, and whispers, "Desidero hoc momento." Though Theodore can't understand, those words still quicken his heart. The sapphire earrings shine brightly. They dance and dance till the end of time.
