Contain Spoilers for Volume 1 (Chapter 0 ->22)
While RRL is for web novels that go chapter by chapter.
Insectum Chronica is separated into volumes as well, similar to a LN.
With chapter 22 finished, we bring Volume 1 to an end.
Volume 2 will begin shortly...
But first, there are a couple of illustrations that didn't make it into the main chapters, mainly because I didn't find the time to properly draw them, so they're mostly sketches.
The MC's appearance at the end of volume 1:

Obviously, Grasshopper's legs look nothing like that, but it was modified for aesthetic purpose, and also to be able to adapt to a 2-pedal creature's needs.
The Dove (Lydia Ivywood):

The trio in Reynes:

About names:
The group of high school students are Japanese, and as per the peculiar way Japanese call each other. Depends on how close your relationship are you will either call the other person by their name or surname.
For example, Souta calls Akagi Akira by his surname, "Akagi", but he calls Date Daiki by his given name, "Daiki"
Which can be a little confusing, so I made their given and family name ryhme to make it easier to see who's who.
This rule also applies to non-Japanese character, because it also exist in earlier eras in the west.
Except for the rhyme.
(The name at the end of a dialogue will almost always be given name, however, to keep it consistent)

About the novel:
The way this novel is done, it's not a linear story.
There are several plot lines going on at the same time, at some points they converge.
If you are wondering what's happening to the characters introduced before but has not yet made an appearance, they will in due time.
Every character in this novel hold certain significance. They're the mc of their own story.
Some might feel a little dissatisfied at how I put great weight in side stories, but it's the flavor of those stories that add something extra to the MC's own story itself.
Or at least that's what I think.
The Chapters:
Chapter 5: Insect monster
It was supposed to connect to the beginning of the prologue.
I was wondering if it was a little too hard to understand for readers, when suddenly the POV was switched to the narrator and the monster that was eating the MC.
Chapter 21:
Now I'm wondering how people react to this.
As far as i know, there's a certain rule when making a story:
" write about gore and murder, no one bats an eye.
write about rape, everybody loses their mind"
As for this particular chapter, it is the hardest that I've to write yet.
Simply because the story is told in first-person perspective, and I had to flip through 3 characters with very different personalities and inner conflict.
It didn't turn out as good as I wanted, but I'd like to think that I did a decent job on it.
Subjectivity..... ahem!
The Volume Extra:
Also serve as a place for me to connect with my readers.
So I'd appreciate your impressions, thoughts, and reviews on this novel.
As the review feature doesn't allow one to comment on it, I thought that this might be a good thread to talk about what happened in the volume.
Of course, I encourage all readers to leave a review and ranking if you can, they help a lot.
Any comment, good or bad, is welcome.
As long as it doesn't go beyond the scope of what's covered in the volume.
I know you don't want to read blurb, or filler chapters.
But I hope you'd forgive me for this small indulgence.
