Good morning all you good ladies and gentlemen.
Today's weather is a fine one.
The sky is clear and the air is refreshing. Even though there is no cloud, the hazy sunlight isn't too harsh on your eyes and instead warm up your body gently. On a beautiful day like this, sleeping outside is truly a luxury not many are able to taste isn't it?
Why am I sleeping outside you say?
I want to know why too!!
The last thing I remember was the classroom turning into this unexplainable colorless space and then everything in front of my eyes shattered into pieces like breaking glass. Then I seem to have lost consciousness after that.
Putting the strange situation aside I guess I’m thankful just to know that I’m still alive and breathing.
But that's not the problem here.
The problem is that in front of me, spreading as far as my eyes can see, is a lustrous green forest covered in vines and thick trunks of wood.
Ahahahaha.
This, this is that isn't it.
Did I somehow catch a fatal illness and is now in a coma?
Or maybe I've already passed on to the next world already?
Why the forest though?
Eh?
Where am I?
Eh?
Who am I?
.
.
.
.
.
Huff...Haaaa...(heavy breathing)
Calm down, me.
Fuuu...
Breathes in… breathes out, slowly, yes.
Panicking won’t do me any good. I try to regulate my breath back to normal and calm down my heart that’s full of confusion right now.
_________________________________________________________________
Well.
Now that I’ve calmed down, what should I do?
I would really like someone to explain to me just what is going on exactly already. Though the only thing that answers to the desperate shouts in my heart were the similarly desperate sounds of my stomach grumbling. How long have I been sleeping? It was around 8am when my lesson started and judging from the position of the sun it’s already past noon.
There’s no familiar face in sight. Or rather, there’s not a single person in sight.
Is there no other choice but try to address the situation myself after all?
....
First of all, this is not a dream. The grassy smell that's tickling my nose is far too vivid. The chirping sounds of birds and insects echoing from all directions. The realistic sensation when touching the ground. The feeling of my own weight…
Yep, it's not a dream.
This is not a TV program where someone from that corner over there will jump out holding the "you got tricked" sign isn't it? No matter how you think about it this is too elaborate for a prank.
Then why is it I am in the middle of a jungle when I was supposed to be in my class a moment ago?
To find myself waking up in an unknown place after blacking out in my classroom, was this an accident or intentional? And for what purpose? Even after I rack my brain up I couldn’t find the answer. I can only make a couple of conjectures that either someone, for some reason transported me in this place during my sleep, or if I were to be fancy, I was thrown into this place due to some unknown super natural phenomenon.
It’s pointless to ponder over things I can’t understand.
Let's go with this theory for now. If I find out more then I'll think about it then.
The more pressing matter is that I am here right now, alone in the middle of a jungle.
Now then, I would've liked to at least still be in Japan but...
This isn't Japan at all is it?
After all, we were in early winter and we are supposed to be changing to winter uniform next week. Even though it's not very cold yet, it was nowhere near as warm as this place I am in now.
Ahh, this is bad isn't it.
It's going to be hard to find help in an unknown place.
If this place uses English then I may be able to manage somehow, but what am I going to do if it's another language?
More importantly, does this place even have people?
Hn?
People?
Come to think of it, what happened to the rest of my class?
If I am to assume this situation is because of the strange phenomenon back then, wouldn't the rest of my class be around too?
In an unknown land like this it is better to find people you know and work together after all.
Alright, now that's said let's go around looking for my classmates!
Who is going to do it?
Me?
No way right?
Me who is bad with communication in the first place is going to look for the very people who were shunning and harassing me? Putting not being able to co-operate aside, wouldn't we turn on each other instead?
Uhhhhh………………
I won't be able to get anything done like this.
In all honesty, it's better to do something without thinking rather than think too much and not doing anything after all. Hm? Did I say something really cool just now? I'm so great, me.
It's not guaranteed that there are people around anyway.
I will deal with it when that time comes.
So with that out of the way.
Since there's no choice, let's start moving out while looking for signs of people.
Even though it's warm now, the temperature might fall very low at night. Not to mention the possible wild animal attacks. It might be a good idea to collect fire wood while i walk around. It would be nice if there are fruits too. I have never tried to make a fire out of primitive tools like that though, I've only seen them done on television. If my memory serves, fresh wood is no good isn't it? you’ve got to look for dried up wood, preferably branches from a dead tree, which should be dried up and brittle. I’d need to find some dried up dead grass to use as tinder to ignite the flame as well…
The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.
Either way, there's nothing to do but to give it a try.
I also picked up a spear shaped sharp stone, this is unexpectedly a good find. The edges were sharp enough to possibly cut through my own skin with ease. I’m not sure how effective it is on animal, realistically speaking. Since animals have much thicker skin than human. But at least it provides some sense of security.
The important thing is feelings, yup.
I continue to walk for about 2 ~ 3 hours but there's no sign of humans, only the rustling of leaves and the occasions sounds of wild monkeys calling each other from far away. The sun is setting down from above the horizons, it's probably about 4pm now judging from that position?
But still, there's no one huh…
Could it be that I was the only one who ended up here?
In the first place there are too many mysterious points about this whole deal, I can't be too sure about anything anymore.
Just as I was thinking about that, my expectations were betrayed by a scream echoing from not too far away.
"Kyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!"
Ah, Un.
There they are.
I’m not sure if it’s one of my classmates or not, though in this situation I can’t think of it being anyone else.
This is the point where i rush to whoever is facing a dilemma isn't it.
But my feet aren't moving.
It really can't be helped!
Common sense is telling me to go over there but at the same time the thought of meeting my classmates isn't too thrilling for me. Knowing that possibly up ahead is my classmate who’s in the same situation, I feel half uncomfortable, half relieved.
Still, nothing will happen if I just stand around like this. It would be bad if she is being chased by a wild boar and actually fall off a cliff or something.
And so, having resolved myself, I drag my feet toward the voice reluctantly.
After a few hundred meters, I could make out the figure of two human from the corner of my eyes. As I walk closer, I started to make out the figures of the two people who’re standing ahead of me.
A girl and a boy.
The girl is a face I know very well. After all, she's one of Chiba's trio. Her name was Harusaki..... um... what was it again? They were calling her "Haru-chan" weren't they? Her hair is in a bob cut with length almost reaches her shoulder. She has white porcelain skin, jet black hair and eyes, delicate facial features that give off the impression of a Japanese beauty. I bet she would look really good with a kimono on.
Un… in a situation like this and I'm thinking those kind of things.
Self-reflection. Self-reflection.
The boy is erm... what was his name again. Was it Taka... um... or Ryo-..shi... Something. Well, forget it. I can't remember the name of half my class anyway. Unless they standout I won't be able to remember them.
Rather than remembering, the name of those stood-out individual kind of pushed their way into my memory.
Back to the situation at hand.
It appears that Harusaki-san is leaning on a tree trunk, trembling with a terrified face. Looking like she is ready to burst out in tears any moment. She’s desperately holding back, not because of courage, but it was as if losing her cool here would results in forfeiting her life.
The boy is standing in front as if to cover the girl behind him. On his hands a big, sturdy piece of wood about 1.5x times the size of a baseball bat, probably picked up from somewhere. The cloth on his right shoulder was ripped through, a little bit of red stained his white T-shirt. However with that small amount of blood the wound doesn't seem to be too deep.
Now then, the problem is the thing that they're facing right now.
How do I describe it… It has the body of a black panther but the head is clearly not something mammals normally would have.
That’s right, it's the head!
The head!
It's just like a huge worm without eyes!
There's a huge, round mouth on the place where there would normally be a face.
Rather than a worm… Isn’t this more like a sea lamprey? Those strange fishes that resemble a huge leech.

Ahahaha…
This…
This is not even Earth anymore is it?
Everytime it breathes, the mouth contracts and expands lightly to gasp for air. The countless teeth spreads around its oval mouth also twitch lightly to the mouth's movement, making the dangerous looking creature looks even more eerie.
Uwaa………
Looks like it'll hurt a lot if you got bitten by those.
Well then, since the guy is giving his all protecting a girl.
Interfering here would be rude now wouldn't it?
Since I'm a person who can read the mood, let's quietly exit the stage here, like a gentleman, yup.
Just when I was about to turn around, the panther's tail twitches lightly and points toward my direction. Then its head also turned toward me while hissing like a snake.
Ah, not good.
It noticed me.
The other people also turned around and saw me too.
Before I can even react, That guy takes Harusaki-san hands and runs toward my location.
"Kawagami, It's me! help us out!!"
Even if you say "It's me", it's not like I know you.
I can't even remember your name you know.
