The air was cold sent shivers down my spine feeling it splash against me I could tell Chavez was feeling the same, we stayed close in formation and did our best to keep ourselves steady remembering what we learned during training and trying to apply it to long range flight, Gabriel briefed us as we flew it was almost light I could hear him in my head his voice was clear and confident, this obviously was not his first engagement, a large ground force of demons were spotted moving across the oil fields in the Slavic confederation reports showed that they already deployed a large military force to combat the demons to no avail it showed that they traded three demons for every twenty men it was looking like a massacre so when the angels offered support they jumped at the offer, looking at it all now made it clear why Michael was so absent from our trainings and lessons the angels yet powerful are stretched thin across the world we were a lone force of fifteen going against a estimated three hundred fifty as we made our approach the scene came in to frame there were fallen over raisin towers probably the first thing targeted to try and stop reinforcements but the broken buildings and fire the scent of blood and ash stained the air. We hovered over to ongoing battlefield for a moment to strategize and think clearly on our objectives, Gabriel looked concerned but also stern he was well aware of our situation but also understood giving up what little earth had remaining to the demons was out of the question he didint look as if he was planning how to win but instead how to mitigate losses while pushing them back far enough to form a frontline “Jacob Chavez hit them from the left flank and push inwards we are using formation revolving door” copy said Jacob and Chavez as they flew east they cocked back their rifles and began to unload upon the demons below each shot of the heavy rifle kicked back on them but the result it had against the demons was outstanding these weapons far outranked that of human technology. When there was noticeable breathing room we pushed downward to the ground and unsheathed our swords and got into a ready stance, three additional angels flew over to support as we began to push forward the blade we had trained so long with cut through the demon hoards like butter becoming for familiar with the resistance of the demon body on each strike this feeling we both felt was not that of happiness or rage but instead redemption after being treated like toys by the demons before we were now real threats and we could tell by the looks they gave us I swear I will make one hundred demons pay for every life they stole back in Yokosuka we cut down swabs Chavez shined making it look easy but it was difficult for me, the mix of human and demonic body’s that littered the ground felt too familiar to what I saw at first contact some of the faces even looked familiar it made me uneasy, maybe if we had deployed sooner, jumped into action faster, maybe there would be less dead here it angered I should have saved them, it’s my job, and yet I failed again. with one last stab I stood upon a pile of demons they looked like they were falling back defending a building they had a few humans hostage, Chavez jumped behind cover but I felt something deep within me, I wouldn’t allow anymore good people to be taken by these dammed demons, I hustled over the cover and charged using my artificial wings to pick me off the ground a little before I heard a loud bang, my shoulder it hurt badly, my blood began to bleed into my white uniform I jumped back behind cover holding my shoulder, I breathed heavy the adrenaline and pain mixed together gripping onto my shoulder made it hurt even more, Chavez ran over and set down a medical box before taking out a blood stim and injecting it into my chest, he looked down at me, “your a fucking idiot sometimes” he removed the stim and dropped it to the floor before using the barrier as a stabilizer for his rifle, Gabriel flew over landing next to us, “squad two report”. I got hit but still manageable, they have four human hostages inside and have advantageous positions, how the rest of the team? “Multiple casualties we are down to eight our reinforcement request was already denied, at the moment we must finish the mission with only squads one and two” copy sir, I steadied my rifle on the barricade and aimed down at the demons the sight I saw the scope made me sick, they were not hostages just final sacrifices, all four hostages laid dead in front of the building brutally dismembered, I clenched my fist before opening fire.
