Chapter 1
"Well, fuck... I was really stupid wasn't I?" (William)
I look around, observing more closely this time. I didn't recognise the plants around me, but that didn't mean much, since I knew next to nothing about plants.
I check my condition. I don't appear to have any injuries. I'm wearing faded blue jeans, a blue shirt with a white singlet underneath, and a pair of worn joggers. I wasn't carrying anything else with me. My stomach was aching from hunger, and my throat was dry.
Why am I in a forest? Didn't they plan to kill me? I guess I should leave that for later and try to find some food or water first. Hopefully there are no dangerous animals here.
I stand up and stretch my body, which is a bit sore from lying on top of a tree root. I'm unable to see anything through the trees, so I pick a random direction and start walking, as quietly as possible. Which is about as quiet as an Elephant, I'd say. After several minutes of walking, I come across a fruit tree. The fruit looks like a purple apple. Despite the suspicious colour, my stomach is screaming at me to feed it so I decide to risk it and pick one. Taking a bite, my mouth is filled with an explosion of sweet, tangy juice.
"God, that's good..." (William)
I quickly devour two more. Taking off my shirt, I wrap roughly a dozen of the fruits in it. Carrying the bundle, I continue in the same direction as before.
I eventually come across a clearing. The moment I step into it, I freeze in shock, wide eyes staring ahead. There, at the other end of the clearing, is a small humanoid with its back to me, crouched down examining something. It's around a metre tall with green skin, extremely thin and bony, wearing a filthy looking rag around its waist. There's a crude wooden club approximately 70 centimetres long lying on the ground next to it. I can smell a foul odour from here. No matter how I look at it, it can only be one thing...
"WHAT THE FUCK?!" (William)
The creature jumps in surprise, quickly picking up its club and turning the face me. It tilts its head and stares at me for a few seconds, before letting out a shriek of glee and charging towards me, waving the club around. In panic, I try to back away from it, only to trip over a tree root, dropping my bundle of apples. I look up and see it right before me, grinning, it's club raised, ready to swing down on me. I do the only thing I can think of, an action that will forever haunt me as a man... I kick it between the legs as hard as I can from my awkward position.
Unexpectedly, it flies back around a metre, screaming in pain, its club flying off to the side. It lands on its back and curls up, it's hands between its legs, sobbing. After recovering from my momentary shock, I finally really how small it is compared to me. It can't weigh more than 20 kilograms, compared to my 90. I stand up and run to it's fallen club, picking it up and turning to face the creature, which is now struggling to stand up, while glaring at me with bloodshot eyes and tears running down its ugly green face. I run towards it before it can stand and kick it in the side to knock it over again, then hit it over the head with the club as hard as I can until it finally stops moving.
The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
I stand there, breathing hard from the adrenaline, and stare at the bloody pulp that used to be this creatures head. As the adrenaline starts to wear off, my legs give out and I fall to my knees. I then proceed to empty the contents of my recently filled stomach, then just kneel there, shivering, unable to think. After several minutes my rationality begins to return, though I continue shivering, unable to move for the moment.
Is this what they call being in shock? I've never knowingly killed anything before... Wait! Before that, this is a Goblin isn't it? At least it matches the description from most of the novels I've read, but they don't really exist... Unless...
Suddenly, a strange screen with writing on it appeared in front of my eyes. I stared blankly at it for a few seconds, then tried touching it, but my hand just went through it. I then finally look at what it says.
