Prologue

Over the years religion had lost its glow, so to speak, and only a few believers were left. With technology on the rise and the beginning of a new space race, one of colonization, among the nations of the Planetary Union that had just begun people were more likely to choose to put their faith in technology, which can now accomplish tasks the past would have deemed godly. Of course, the issue is that even 5% of more than 20 billion is still at least a billion people. Fearing an uprising or a revolt? The many religions had long ago converged into one to preserve themselves so they were too afraid of destroying their unsteady balance, but I can only say that I wish that were what happened.

The gods were real, though they no longer have the chance to walk among us. Not even their believers have that chance anymore.

The strong rule the weak. A simple balance of nature. But when gods kill each other nothing could be more complicated. When a god falls their believers will know, but the impact of hearing the dying screams of a god is not something a basic mortal can comprehend.

On the first day of what we deem the Divine Era or the sixth month of the year 3016 the believers, “Shadows of the Gods” heard the death of their gods and it left them mere husks, transformed into monstrosities.

And of us others, we… heard the voices of their killers. They told us all living things were the shadows of the gods projected down to our dimension and now that they had cleared the defiant old gods that had domain over our world it was their time to show us what lies beyond what we could see in our universe. That they would offer us time and abilities to join the Greater Galactic Universe. Though some were unlucky and bearing witness to the voices of such beings made them no better than the fallen shadows. However they may have been the lucky ones…

What followed after our galaxy’s addition to the Greater Galactic Universe is history, some of it still in the making.

Journal entry by Dr. Kaze Arminix, Galactic Professor.
