Prelogue-2

“Next is Mr.Eric, He is getting a graduation certificate in English literature”

Eric walked up the stage while trying to suppress the excitement on his face. He shook the dean’s hand and was given the certificate.

Then he exited his college and went towards his home.

“I am home maa” He said while taking off his shoes.

“I know!” A shout came from inside the house. He entered his room and put the certificate near the awards for various story writing competitions.

And to think it all started from that one photo.

He opened the drawer that was besides his desk and took out the photo he had clicked over 7 years ago, the photo of the floating man.

“And who is newly graduated boy now” His mom entered the room with a jar of cookies. She was about to hand him the jar but-

“But I guess you are a big boy now huh? You aren’t gonna like your maa’s cookies anymore then?”

“Maa! Never mind the growing up stuff, your cooking is golden and I want that jar” saying this Eric jumped up from his bed, grabbed the cookie jar and sat back down.

“You still want to find the floating man?” She said noticing the photo on the bed.

Everyone he ever showed the picture too had laughed at him saying that he was clearly lying, Everyone except his mother.

She had laughed at first, then she asked if I was serious and then said that if I say I saw a floating man then I saw a floating man.

He had talked to her about this before.

He had asked why she believed him, she told him that life is hard, and surely miracles can make it a lot more bearable, she was willing to believe that a miracle happened with her son just to think that Eric’s life is going to be meaningful, happy and filled with magic.

What mother wouldn’t want that.

“Of course I do, I will roam the entire planet if it means finding a man filled with so much magic again. I am willing die to m-”

*Thck*

“Sorry maa!!” Eric ran outside his room after his mother threw her slipper at him.

“Always talking about dying and stuff, can’t you talk about something better!” She shouted and then shook her head.

‘I hope that what he saw was real’ She prayed sometimes, she felt he would do something drastic if he didn’t find such a miracle again.

Of course she could never know how drastic and dangerous his actions would become when he truly tried to find something magical.

“Give me something to eat! I am dying of hunger!” She heard a shout from downstairs.

She shook her head with a wry smile and exited the room.
