Chapter 4 - I sent him to the 10th level

It was a regular high school classroom, but this time, only one person was in it. Sora had been completely sucked into the wall. Gabriel sat in the teacher’s chair, hands and legs crossed, head half-bowed, gaze lost. Suddenly, he quickly turned his head to the left, where the exit door was located.

“You can stop hiding, Adriel.”

Suddenly, a large portal made of darkness opened to his left. A man who seemed to be kneeling began to emerge from it. He wore black pants and a white sweater as well as a black corsair jacket with a lining that flickered between red and blue. He had eyes and hair as blue as the ocean, a delicate scent similar to that of the sea seemed to emanate from him.

“I apologize, my lord.”

“I thought I asked you not to follow me, Adriel.”

“I think there are more important things. Do you realize that you have broken several rules of the Bizimuth, our sacred book?” said Adriel, spreading his eyes as he looked Gabriel in the eyes.

Several seconds passed, but no response seemed to come from Gabriel.

“You know as much as I do that his name is written in the Bizimuth and therefore he is destined to be killed by the soul hunters,” he added, squeezing his right thigh with his right hand.

“I promised an old friend that I would watch over him,” Gabriel said calmly, looking at the sunset through the window to his right.

“Don’t misunderstand me. Since when does one of the lords of the catacombs care about the fate of a mere human? Moreover, you have not only interfered with the work of the soul hunters. You have sent a human to the catacombs, which is also strictly forbidden by the Bizimuth. Moreover, a lord who makes a pact with a vulgar human is unheard of…” Adriel exclaimed, squeezing his thigh tighter and tighter.”

Adriel exerted such great force on his leg that his right hand began to tremble and cracks started to spread on the ground beneath them.

“Calm down Adriel. You’re going to destroy the building,” Gabriel said in an authoritative voice while looking at Adriel’s right hand.

“Please excuse my carelessness. I don’t know what got into me,” Adriel replied in a much lighter voice, releasing his thigh.

“You know as well as I do that you’re risking a lot, don’t you, even being one of the lords of the catacombs?”

“I am prepared to face the consequences. So I ask you to trust me,” Gabriel replied confidently, sitting on the professor’s desk.

“I see … but tell me…” Adriel said, getting up and giving a slight judgmental smile.

“You almost made me proud. Since when did you become so diabolical? You even went so far as simulating the death of one of his classmates. You almost gave me chills.”

“What can I say? I had to be convincing,” Gabriel replied in a dull voice, rolling back and forth on the professor’s desk.

“Stop it right noooow … you’re embarrassing me… What would the other lords say if they saw you like this?” Adriel replied, pursing his lips, his face completely red.

“Seriously though, I had to motivate him. He’ll need it where he’s going,” Gabriel said, getting up.

“I see, so the contract is just a gimmick to push him to increase his power as quickly as possible, so he can stand up to the soul hunters,”

“that's right” Gabriel replied, raising his thumb and taking a cute position similar to that of a high school girl.

“Com… Come on, show so … some restraint,” Adriel responded, stuttering as he raised his arm in the air, his shoulders and jaw trembling.

“Where exactly did you send him?” Adriel added, regaining his composure.

“To the 10th level near grandpa’s house ‘

‘I don’t understand why you’re taking such risks for a human. Who is this friend that’s pushing you to take such risks?’

“Let Just say she was a very good friend,” Gabriel replied, walking towards Adriel and placing his right hand on his right shoulder.

“If you were trying to protect him by sending him to grandpa, it’s a lost cause. You know as well as I do that all soul hunters will come after him, and if they find him, he won’t be safe even with grandpa”

Suddenly, Gabriel took both of Adriel’s hands and gazed deeply into his eyes.

“You know how much you mean to me, don’t you, Adriel?” Gabriel said in a delicate voice.

“My lord, a bit of restraint, please. This is not appropriate. But that being said, you mean a lot to me as well,” Adriel replied in a trembling voice, looking away.

“So I’m going to ask you to also watch over him…”

“What do you want me to do...” Adriel replied hesitantly.

“I want you to watch over him…”

“There’s no way I’m doing that,” Adriel exclaimed, taking his hands away from Gabriel’s and stepping back a few meters.

“Please, I can’t do it myself. I stated in the contract that I wouldn’t. Besides, you can do this for your master, who will surely be condemned,” Gabriel exclaimed, taking Adriel’s hands again and shaking them up and down several times.

“I have never disobeyed you, but even if it’s you who’s asking me. Me watching over a mere human!” Adriel replied, clenching his hands and trembling.

“Very well, I’m counting on you, Adriel,” Gabriel replied, releasing Adriel’s hands and opening a portal. In an instant, Gabriel vanished through the portal, which immediately closed behind him.

“Don’t … don’t leave… I haven’t said yes. Come back immediately…” Adriel exclaimed.

All that could be heard now was Adriel’s cry, cursing his lord.
