Chapter 1 - I'm locked up

A great silence reigned in the classroom. Sora remained silent, still shocked by what he had just heard, his back against the exit door. He just kept looking at the mysterious masked man, but it only took him a few seconds to regain his composure.

“You got me there, sensei…” he said, rubbing his right hand on the back of his head. He thought it was a joke from one of his teachers, because it couldn’t possibly be real, he thought.

“Sensei, I’d like to continue playing this little game… But I have to go. My mother is seriously ill and my father won’t be home tonight, so I have to go make dinner for her.”

Of course, none of this was true, but it was the first thing that came to Sora’s mind as an excuse to leave as quickly as possible.

One second… Ten seconds, but no response came from the masked man’s mouth, which made Sora confused. However, after thirty seconds.

“Where are my manners? My name is Gabriel. No need to introduce yourself. I already know everything about you, Sora,” he said, bowing to greet Sora.

Sora remained silent for a moment, but he seemed to be losing his composure, as he felt that this joke had gone on for too long.

“Sensei, I already told you I have to go, so open the door for me,” he said, looking at Gabriel seriously, as a way for him to understand that he had had enough of this joke.

Once again, a heavy, oppressive silence fell over the room, creating a palpable discomfort that weighed on the shoulders. This time, it was longer and it took Gabriel a long minute to make a sound, but for Sora, it seemed like an eternity.

“I see,” he said in an irritated voice that betrayed his annoyance.

“Takashi, you can come in.”

The exit door mysteriously opened by itself. Takashi, a student from the same class as Sora, entered the room. He was tall, had short brown hair and brown eyes, and had an imposing build, being the captain of the school’s baseball team. He was the first first-year student to achieve this feat, which earned him the respect of all the students, including Sora.

“Hi Takashi!” said Sora, raising his hand in greeting. However, Takashi didn’t respond. He closed the door and walked towards Gabriel as if he were hypnotized.

Once he arrived near him, Gabriel took the teacher’s chair and placed it in the middle of the class, near the board.

“Sit down, my little Takashi,”

Takashi obeyed without questions.

“Tell me, my little Takashi, what is your worst phobia?” asked Gabriel, leaning in towards Takashi’s ear and tilting his head slightly.

“My worst phobia, sir, is spiders,” he replied in a monotone voice, looking at Sora.

“I’m sorry, my dear Takashi, but you see, Sora has a hard time believing me. I think we need to help him a little bit…”

In an instant, Gabriel snapped his right-hand fingers, producing a small, sharp sound like a miniature explosion. Suddenly, small bumps began to form on Takashi’s body.

Sora was stunned, not understanding what was happening. The bumps began to change color, from a typical human skin color to a bright black. In reality, several spiders had emerged from Takashi’s skin and, in a fraction of a second, began to devour him alive.

“Aaaahhhhhh...”

Sora’s scream was the only sound that could be heard. Collapsed on the floor, his back against the exit door, shocked by what he was seeing.

In an instant, there was nothing left of Takashi but a lifeless skeleton. A sinister, cold and bitter laughter escaped Gabriel's lips, bouncing off the walls and filling the room with an oppressive atmosphere.

"As you can see, all of this is very real," said Gabriel, looking at Sora, who had collapsed on the ground with a completely pale and frozen face, his eyes wide open fixed on Takashi.

"It's up to you whether you want to cooperate or die right now."

His hands were trembling slightly, as if he had lost all his strength. He seemed unable to utter a single word. His body was rigid, as if lightning had struck him...
