Chapter 4: Arrival

Chapter 4: Arrival

After arriving to the gate of Eribia City, whicht took two days with my speed, I couldn't help but think of my mother. Sure, she'll last a few years, but she'll still be suffering the entire time. I don't like family or friends suffering, and I never have. Nevertheless, I arrived at the gate, hoping for a free pass. Obviously, it wasn't going to be as easy as walking straight into the capital city.

"Hey! Where's your ID?" He asked me, and I just looked at him confused.

"Uh, sorry what?" I tilted my head as I spoke.

"If you don't have an ID, you'll have to pay the entry fee." He looked at me in a 'I'm better than you' kind of way, and from that I guessed that most of the guards are selfish pricks.

"Sure thing, except all my coins are in gold." I said.

"Then hand over one gold coin and I'll re-pay the difference." He stated.

I handed over a gold coin, and he gave me 990 great copper coins. What I gathered from this was that the entrance fee is 10 great copper coins, and they always have a few thousand extras on them. This is much needed, especially for wealthy nobles that fling around platinum coins like it's only worth a copper coin.

"Alright, but I have to warn you, the city is pretty dangerous at night. Saying that, you look like a tough guy, so you have nothing much to worry about." He said to me, but I just glared at him for a second and then walked on in.

I walked into the city, and for this type of place, city was a great name for it. It was so populated, that people walking around bustled from one end of the city to the other. As I walked in, I saw an overweight man tugging at a kid my age's shirt. From what I know about them, this is something a human noble would do. I ran over to the person, released the noble's grasp on them, and then looked at the noble.

"How dare you touch a noble, kid? I can have you and your family enslaved for this!" He said angrily, boasting about his power.

That's what got me. I wouldn't mind him trying to insult me, but my family was too far. Not only the fact that my mother was dying, but because I care about all of them. I casually walked up to the noble, and then punched him straight in the face with a tremendous amount of power. Let's just say, he landed on the other end of the city.

The kid looked at me in amazement, and from an estimate, I would say that they are about 12 years old. The kid finally took my hand, removed the hood on her, and finally said, "Hello! My name is Natalie, nice to meet you! Thanks for saving me back there, I was powerless against that noble. However, they can get you enslaved, are you sure you wanted to do that?"

I looked at her, and said, "Yeah, not like they can catch me anyway. But, I do need to ask, do you know of a good inn? I was hoping to stay for a while."

If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

She looked at me and had some really happy look in her, and then after a minute or so of staring, she said, "I know a really good place! It's cheap, it has very nice rooms, and even has a bath for absolutely free!"

I looked at her and nodded. She then led me toward a really fancy inn named 'The Dragon's Breath Inn' and I really found that name weird. Not in a bad way, but in a way that just makes you feel weird inside. Basically, I didn't like it.

"Hello, Natalie! How was your walk?" The innkeeper said, which at this point I guessed was her mom or family relative.

"It was really good, thank you mother! I also found this boy who was looking for a place to stay, so I brought him here! Oh, and yes, it was of his own free will." She said this and then I stared at her with my jaw open, but thought, WHAT DO YOU MEAN OF MY OWN FREE WILL?! DO YOU KIDNAP PEOPLE AND DRAG THEM HERE?!

"That's good to hear! The price for a night is 6 great coppers per night." She said, but at the time I was thinking something along the lines of IN WHAT UNIVERSE, GALAXY, PLANET, OR EVEN STAR IS THAT GOOD TO HEAR?! IS THIS A KIDNAPPING INN?! WERE ALL THE VILLAGERS DROPPED ON THEIR HEAD?!

I sighed, very much concerned for the safety of the people living here or those that will live here. In the end, I paid 725 great copper coins to the innkeeper, and the look on her face was priceless when she received it. The extra 5 were to make sure she didn't, you know, kidnap or poison me. With this, I was good for 120 days, and it was good for at most 4 months.

The innkeeper escorted me to my room, a pretty big one that had a very nice bed, a drawer to store miniature objects in, and above all else, a very nice room. Along the escort though, she asked me a question.

"Uhm, hey, I'm sorry if this is too far, but where are your parents?" She asked, in a polite tone.

"Oh, well, my mother's currently seriously ill, and my father's looking after here. I came here to get strong enough to heal her and to get strong enough to protect the ones I love. I made a promise that I will not break, because I love her and I keep my words. I will heal her, whatever it takes." I said, and that's when she just apologized and left me to my own devices. Thus, I was on my own and I really wanted to get some sleep.

However alone I was, I just looked out the window and saw that it's only my Earth's equivalent of 7 PM. In the meantime, I decided to reminisce on the events that transpired so far. Only 30 minutes after doing so, I fell asleep and didn't wake up for a while, since I was preparing my body for the next months to come.

After I woke up, I decided to start my training and ask where I could find a good place to train. They said that there is a school, in which I'd visit later, and there's free space in the back if I don't destroy everything. Now, I decided to do the training that most helped my statistics. Maybe, after I was done, no one would be able to hurt me or those I care for. Also, I was focusing on my healing most of all.

By the end of the month, I already had Emperor healing, and I could heal a lot better than before. I started to wonder if my affinity for magic was way too powerful. After reaching Emperor-rank Healing, I started to train every single statistic equally, knowing that I could get Godlike Healer in a few months if I continue the pace I am training at now. I also decided to help Natalie with her training, and got her into magic the same way my mother got me into it. This didn't effect my training, but helped me a lot. She looked rather young, but she actually had quite the skills, and even I didn't show up back then I'm very confident she would still be fine If we trained and paced enough, both of us would be a strong match for anyone. The only slight sidebacks was the fact that her affinity for magic was a tad lower, but that just means we have to work even harder.
