A hot sensation spread throughout my lungs as I breathe in air and the rising heat slowly made its way to the back of my throat. Smoke soon seeped out from between my lips but I didn’t feel any pain. It felt more like a cough that has yet to be released so it was irritating at most.
I expelled the heat as a ball of flames with a silent yell. It came with a burst of light which disappeared as it made its way to the path connected to the poisonous swamp. The attack was large enough to engulf a few dozen men but only served to stall for time. I didn’t use a full-powered fire breath since it might do more damage to the cave system than the enemies.
Shortly after the monsters stopped in that one path, fifteen-foot gray wolves entered the chamber. Seeing them, I propelled myself with a kick to the ground and spun in midair for a roundhouse kick. One foolish wolf tried to pounce on me only to be hit straight on the face. Its skull broke in a flash, killing it before it could realize just how stupid it was. Who jumps into an enemy’s attack?
I continued spinning when I landed and shot a back kick to another wolf. Due to the height difference, I could only hit its neck but it was more than enough for a kill. Upon contact with my feet, it was pushed a step back and fell to the ground, blood spurting out of its mouth as it whined for no more than a minute. Ok; two down, an unknown number of enemies to go.
By then the monsters in the third path were close so I grabbed a random wolf and tossed it to the path like a rag doll. It didn’t end with just one. Every wolf I could get my hands onto would be thrown without fail. While none of them died, it did leave them with severe injuries.
The first monster that came out of the path was a black spider, one much larger than the wolf that hit it. It was thirty levels higher than a dusk wolf which usually sits at around seventy. It’s the highest level I’ve seen so far – still far from mine though. It’s not a threat.
While I was assessing the new enemy, a stream of green liquid suddenly flew out of the first path and it was aimed at Rael. Slightly worried, I ran to the adolescent dragon and blocked the incoming attack with my body. I only felt a bit itchy when the unknown liquid splashed onto me. The ground however wasn’t as lucky. It was melted by the dangerous substance until a small puddle was formed.
Once it ended, I found myself looking at a nether frog two times larger than the rest. It was behind an army of nether frogs but I could see it clearly. Unlike the others that release gas through their mouths, the huge amphibian was emitting purple haze all over its body, making it look like it’s surrounded by mist. So a big shot finally appeared huh?

There were also some red hornets flying above the nether frogs. A few were burning but it didn’t seem like they cared. They were slightly smaller than the frogs, both in size and level. And like with the ugly amphibians, a larger version of them could be seen at the back. It had a bright red body with orange fur around the neck. It also had what appears to be a crown atop its head.

Redrac Hornet Queen – Level 149
The influx of monsters has yet to end, isn’t it too early for you guys to show up? It’s common knowledge for generals to hide until the last moment you know?
Not long after my unnecessary remark, a single presence in the second path rushed from the back to the frontlines in the blink of an eye. When I turned, I was welcomed by the sight of a large white wolf with a scar on its right eye. Aside its muscular physique and different fur color; it looked the same as the rest of the wolves. It goes to show that size doesn’t have anything to do with level.

With the turn of events, I expected a similar occurrence from the third path so I inquired if, “anyone from there wants to join the fun?”
To my horror, I heard a voice from Rael’s hiding spot. “It’s fine; I’ll wait for my turn. It’ll be quite rude of me as the host of this wonderful event if I only entertain myself after all.”
Upon turning, I saw a woman with blood red eyes. She wore a long dress with the same blackness as her hair, emphasizing her snow white skin and luscious curves, “why the surprise? Have you not received an invitation? Oh wait, you weren’t supposed to get one. Silly me, forget it, forget it; just think of my words as ramblings of a crazy old woman.”

I hastily looked around but couldn’t see any signs of my charge, “where did you take Rael?!”
“Rael, Rael, oh, are you talking about the little black dragon? So that’s his name. Don’t worry, he’s safe. I have no interest in the weak. Besides, he’s the heir of my dear friend Malassa. I would never bring him harm. By the way, can you extend a helping hand to this poor old woman in her quest for revenge? You see, a mean old witch bullies her at the bottom of this dungeon.”
“Quit the nonsense and tell me where Rael is!” I threatened, the reddish black horns protruding from my temples growing longer and my teeth becoming sharper.
“That’s a good look you have there.”
Her nonchalant reply was the last straw. I dropped all efforts to minimize collateral damage and let pitch black flames cover my body. As rage invaded my system, the flames expanded and my skin turned into black scales. In a matter of seconds, my height rose by ten times my original height and sharp claws took over my once delicate fingers. Colossal wings sprouted from my shoulder blades as a long tapering tail grew from my rear. Lastly, my face lost all of its human features, replaced by a more draconic look. “This is my final warning you damned vixen, tell me where Rael is.”
“Not the brightest person in the world I see. Is it common for your kind to react violently to every single problem you encounter? If it was me I’d take a different approach, I mean, my loved one is held captive, how could I dare to talk back to the captor?”
“So you do have Rael,” I raised my head and prepared a breath attack. “I hope you don’t regret this.”
“I have a lot of regrets, adding one more shouldn’t hurt.”
