The bullet had pierced Tenma's head, killing him instantly. His corpse had been buried, and now he had been resurrected.
But Tenma took some time to regain consciousness.
It wasn't until walking home that Tenma regained awareness.
At that moment, he had been taken back to the veterinarian's. Where the vet told the boss that her pet was in perfect health.
Shortly after, they all decided to head towards the bridge to hunt monsters. The boss opposed it at first, but she relented, in order to see the potential of the canine.
Finally, they arrived. They descended carefully and entered that dark place. Which they noticed was a tunnel.
The interior of the tunnel was dark and rocky. Walking barefoot and without care would cause some discomfort or injuries, which only affected the canine, none of whom offered to carry him to learn to confront the slight pains.
They followed their route, exploring with an old lamp.
Tenma remained distressed by all of this.
He had died, lost consciousness, and woke up as if nothing had happened, as if his body had behaved automatically when he was not conscious. Tenma was confused.
Suddenly, the ground shook. The small rocks covering the ground hit the dog's face, making him recoil with a yelp.
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
In front of them, a kind of dragon, with shiny green scales, expressed its annoyance at the visit, roaring loudly.
Tenma felt a chill unlike any other. His body almost froze, as his soul nearly left him.
The first to step forward was Melman, the swordsman of the guild, who ventured to attack the monster.
But he was quickly crushed by a dragon's tail swipe.
Everyone fell silent.
"Doris. Go."
Doris, the guild's gunslinger, pulled out her weapon and aimed at the dragon's eyes. When it tried the same with a tail swipe, she dodged it with great agility, running around the dragon and pulling the trigger.
The dragon dodged the attack by lowering its head and lunging towards the girl, who stepped back trying to avoid being bitten by the threatening fangs.
Meanwhile, Melman was still lying on the ground.
Doris was being chased by bites from the dragon, but she didn't have time to readjust her weapon.
She ran terrified through the tunnel, while her boss, Gorgon, and Tenma watched without moving a muscle.
"Well. I think I've come up with a plan to kill the dragon once and for all," the boss commented, taking her pet in her hands, and then bringing some dark berries to his nose. "Here, little one, try these."
Tenma sniffed the strange berries, but seeing his owner's kind gaze, he accepted and obediently ate them. Barking happily.
The boss patted his head and handed the dog to Gorgon, who looked confused.
"What am I supposed to do?" Gorgon asked, trembling for a while without being able to move to attack, despite his great muscularity.
"If Shinma is immortal, and I trust that he is, then he has great potential as our guardian," the boss told him, pointing to the dragon. "Go, and throw Shinma into the dragon's mouth."
Gorgon froze, looking at his boss. She maintained a patient and calm gaze on him in turn.
Doris kept running. Asking for help for a couple of minutes now.
Tenma was in shock just like Gorgon. Confused as could be by his owner's plan.
