The rustling sound of leaves and night insects’ characteristic echoes accompanied the girl walking alone in the quiet housing complex. She wears a dark scarf covering the lower part of her face as if using it as a mask. As if she is blending with the night’s breeze, her steps are so gentle and vibrant at the same time. One could tell she trained those steps to the point that perhaps even a cat couldn’t hear them.
The said girl tries to blend within the lightless walls at this darkest hour, moving quickly between the streets. Even some people who happened to pass by on that street were utterly unaware of her presence.
Adel continued to stroll to the police station. When she was only a few hundred meters away, she put a device in her right hand—a silver-colored future technology with its endpoint shaped like a half ball. The machine slowly spread over the girl’s arm like a living thing. Adel continued to step closer until the device covered the upper part of her arm up until her shoulder.
“Good thing that it is late enough that no one was seen strolling around here. It’s not that I’m not expecting it, though,” she muttered as she surveyed the situation.
Adel was here because of Johann’s decision, and she agreed with him. She is supposed to terrorize the police force so they’ll slow down on their attempt to track Johann’s disturbance.
A few hours ago, before Adel approached the police headquarters, Johann’s apartment was filled with monitor projections hovering in the air. Adel sat and crossed her legs while observing the floating data around her.
“As per the information I managed to obtain after a few breaches in the intranet of the Tantoris City’s police, I know that there are some members stationed in the police headquarters tonight. We will take advantage of this momentum to disrupt their movement,” Johann explained.
“Is it because they’re still trying to track you down?” asked Adel.
“Exactly. They tried to scan different corners of the city to find my whereabouts, both physically and by utilizing information rings. A futile attempt, since I am completely immune to various trackers that are online.”
“Showing off your skills, huh? So that’s the situation… even the police team can’t find you since you’re still connected to the Ringnet of the volunteers. It’s great. I wonder what kind of trick you’re pulling off, hmm,” Adel sneered.
“Isn’t there anything else you can do besides teasing me? Let’s go back to discuss our plan. Listen carefully, to slow down their movements in an attempt to find me, we need something big. For example, a small bang.”

Adel raised her eyebrows. She knows where this conversation will go.
“Basically, you want me to attack the police headquarters tonight?”
“That’s right. I have also prepared the right tools for you.”
Johann put the said tool on the table. When Adel examined the object, she understood clearly what was in front of him.
“Laser cannon?”
“The current model, yeah,” Johann replied confidently.
“Do we really need a weapon this strong?”
“To give them a significant impact so they’ll slowing down–yes, it’s necessary. This laser cannon is the right solution.”
The girl holds the weapon slowly while examining it closer. It’s a bit heavier than what she usually carries. However, she’s confident she can use this in no time since she’s used it in the past.
“If it is this strong, then there could potentially be casualties,” the girl commented.
“That’s what I’m aiming for. It would be great if there were, indeed, casualties.” Johann emphasized.
“... tch. You know that I don’t like casualties.”
“Still, this is the best method to buy us time. Unless, you’re going to confront them directly and make a ruckuss, while I’m doing what I have to do. But, you won’t do that, won’t you? You need to stay low, as I recall.”
“Noisy.”
Adel grit her teeth while leaving Johann’s apartment. More or less, She still has to do this because she still needs Johann to be around for a little while.
“...”
The night breeze pokes at her skin, resuscitating Adel in her reverie. Her sight found the police building, which is no more than six floors. The whole windows had been dark, except for two windows on the fourth floor, still brightly lit.
“Hardworking as ever. Knowing how they operate in the future, that’s given.” Adel commented. Perhaps, those policemen whose working overtime don’t even realize that one of the people they were looking for is currently nearby.
The girl went back down the dark streets of a housing complex nearby to ensure the situation was favorable for her. Then, make her stance while preparing the laser gun to gather energy as the semicircular end of the weapon turns brighter and brighter.
It only takes about two minutes, and the temperature of the tip end of the weapon is not less than 3000 degrees Celsius.
Adel pointed the gun at the window with the lights still on.
“—It would be great if there were, indeed, casualties.”
Fuck it.
Adel shifted her target a few degrees above before releasing a hot light beam. Like butter, it instantly melts the walls of the police building—followed by the collapse of the building’s structure and the rumbles of the concrete.
The construction is getting razed to the ground within minutes.
“I definitely don’t feel good at all about this.”
She ran away swiftly before the building’s dust hit her clothes, leaving panic emerging from nearby residents who had just come out of their houses.
