I feel something shaking my shoulder. “Miss Yuki. Miss Yuki, wake up!”
“Five more hours…” I complain. Sleep has taken over, and sleep I must!!! I roll over and bury my face in the pillow. “Go away please, Miss Maria…” I open one eye and look dubiously at her. Miss Maria is my companion. With her maid’s dress and brown hair, she seems like the nicest person ever. But she’s not in the right mood for my shenanigans today. “No. Get up. Now, or else you’ll be late.”She is REALLY not in the mood today. I’m so tired though… “Late for what?” Maria sighs. “High school, Miss Yuki. Now get in your uniform.”
CUE PANIC!!! I leap out of bed, grab my uniform, yank off my pajamas, put on the uniform, and throw my pj’s across the room, which hits the grumpy Maria. She folds them and puts them away. “Miss…” She begins, but I ignore her. I huff and admire myself in the mirror.
The uniform is a satiny fabric in a pumpkin colour. My auburn hair and ears match it perfectly. The neck is collared, and under the collar are soft white frills. The bottom looks like a princess’ dress. This is gonna be hard to walk in.
“Hey, Maria, will I be able to run, and climb, and cause basic Yuki chaos in this?”
“YES, Miss. Now put the collar ON instead of holding it and go!” I clip on the choker that looks suspiciously like a dog collar. It even has my name engraved on it! I guess I’ll figure out what that means as I go.
I run downstairs and grab a bagel, yell “Seeya! Love you!” to my mom, run down the stairs, and get in the limo. Did I mention? My new family is LOADED. It’s great.

After a short ride, I arrive at the school. There are, like, a bajillion kids there. All of them look older than me. Yay. I look at the chauffeur. “Do I absolutely 100000% haaaave to go? I don’t wanna!” She pulls her sunglasses down. “Yes, Miss. And I’d suggest you get to going, or else you’ll be late.” I sigh. “Fine.”
Wow. Nobody is shenanigan-ready today.
“Your items will be in your room. Please do not fret. We have a maid up there to clean up the messes you will make.” Ouch. Did she have to be that blunt? That kinda hurt. I grab the leather satchel on the seat next to me and hop out of the car.
It’s definitely pretty ginemenasaurus. The school is titled “THE SCHOOL”. I’m not sure if I should be excited or concerned. I look around. The girls are all pretty, with their cat ears, tails, and wings. One of the girls even has stag antlers! It’s the same for the boys, too- everyone is part animal. I tell myself to breathe.
“Breathing is fun,” I say. And immediately regret saying. One of the girls heard! I freak out. But the girl seems super happy to hear someone say something weird. She laughs. “You’re funny,” she says. She looks at my collar. “Hi, Yuki! I’m Angelita. Nice to meet you!”
You have met the villainess. Befriend them or you die. Good luck, lol.
THANK YOU, random voice in my head. I will not flunk this, no matter how much you don’t believe me!
I roll my eyes and respond to Angelita. “HI!!! Oh no, that was too loud. Hey, do I sound like a psychopath??” She laughs again. “...Yeah, kinda. But I normally do too, so… yeah.” I let out a sigh of relief. “Well, that’s good. I’m not the only lunatic here.” She smiles. “Nope! Hey, what year are you?” I actually have to rack my brain. “First, I think.” “You think??? You know. Yeah, you’re a first-year.” She makes a happy face. “Which is perfect, ‘cause now I have a fellow lunatic to help me out. So, whaddya say?” I must have looked happy, ‘cause Angelita didn’t have to hear a response. She just grabbed my arm, and into the school we ran.
