Was this the famous person they told me about?
She wore a black suit and she had rolled up her sleeves.
She pulled back her chin length, night black hair revealing the pink underneath. Her grey eyes closed as she exhaled deeply and put her phone down.
She looked beautiful.
"Look, just don't do anything and don't ask questions," she said firmly as she put the cash in the pocket of her long black suit jacket.
But she wasn't very pleased to see me.
"What are you doing with that money?" I asked.
"I just told you not to ask questions," she gave me a killer's glare.
"But they said I needed to learn from you," I reasoned following her out of the boba place.
Out in front was a parking lot with only two cars, one was grey and dusty and the other was black and luxurious.
"The only thing you need to know is that you have to fight to survive, and if you can't do that just stay close," she opened the door to the black car.
"You never told me your name," I realized as I watched her.
"Call me Rain," she said.
"And who the hell wears sunglasses at night?" she asked before she rolled her window up.
"Really? I thought it'd make a good first impression," I muttered to myself.
I rushed into the car and she started her gps to a grocery store 51 minutes away.
"So, what are you doing here in Hell City?" she asked as she stared straight ahead.
She sped without a care, but when I looked at the speed limits they seemed to be spray painted.
Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
"I heard they were paying 30,000 a month for this job," I answered.
"What about you?"
"Same as you, I came here for the money and couldn't go back. We're stuck here now," she answered as she glanced at me.
"Why do you call this place Hell City?" I asked as I saw a chance to ask questions.
"Well, look around. This place is the very definition of hell," she answered.
She was right, the place looked like a different planet.
Buildings weren't wrecked but there were all sorts of things below.Ghosts, demons and people who were possessed. There were barely any cars, people and all that was heard were screams and shattering of things being broken. Blood stains had been in the most random of places. Nothing could be trusted. It was grey, like all life had left it.
"How did it happen?" I asked her as I stared out the window.
She sighed, "No one knows."
Her speed only increased, we were silent the entire ride.
15 minutes or so later we arrived at a condo.
We went in the elevator and she pressed the penthouse button.
"You live in a condo?" I asked to break the ice.
"Never seen someone live in a condo before?" she asked giving me a cold shoulder.
"There aren't that many people here," I continued.
"Yep, they fled the city since the demons started killing and all. Very few stayed but only because they had to," she answered just before the elevator reached the penthouse.
"By the way there's a ghost behind you," she whispered as we were walking out together.
I looked behind but before I could see anything the elevator closed.
"You were joking right?" I double checked facing her.
"Why would I joke about that?" she asked with a bit of enjoyment in her voice.
In front of use were three doors, Ms. Rain opened the one to the left. The place was spacious and luxurious but why was she living in such a big place by herself?
"I just picked the place with the best view, far enough from the majority of them," she answered as if she knew exactly what I was thinking.
"Anyway, this is where you're going to be staying," she said as she leaned on the wall next to the door, her arms folded.
"Who lives next door?" I asked looking back at her.
"I live at the one right next to you, don't knock unless you're dying," she answered as she opened the door.
"Oh, and also the door to the right is a death certificate," she said just before she left.
I looked at the chandelier hanging above the kitchen and the pool outside the balcony. It felt as if everything outside of this penthouse didn't exist. Like it was all perfect.
The ring from my phone brought me back to consciousness.
"Hello?" I asked holding my phone to my ear.
"Name?" the person on the other side asked.
"Candle," I answered continuing to stare at the pool outside.
"Update?"
