Chapter 1 Our Encounter

"Hello, welcome to Boba Tea, what would you like to order?" the cashier asked with a friendly smile on her face.

"I'll get a medium Thai milk tea with boba," I grabbed the money from my pocket.

"Ok, that'll be $4.50," she said after typing in the order.

I put the money on the counter and stood to the side waiting for my drink.

I've been to this place so many times, but I've never seen her before.       Her voice was bitter sweet, like iced lemonade.

It's rare for new people to come here. Hell City, was only one of the nicknames of this hell hole.

So, what is a sweet girl like her doing here?

"Here's your order," she placed it in front of me.

Yep, it's official, I have like three minutes to get out of here. Ah, just my luck. All I wanted was my Thai milk tea with boba.

The lights turned off, what an idiot, the place is practically deserted and it was already dark outside.

She slammed my head down on the table.

I took out the only weapon I had and cut her arm.

The author's content has been appropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

"Bye bye," I watched her fade to ashes

"Just don't tell me there are more of them," I grabbed my boba and looked around.

No one was in sight, at least that's what I had thought.

"Hey!" a dude's voice called out from straight behind.

"There's one over here!"

I turned around and threw my knife at the demon rushing my way and when I walked over to take it back, there in front of me stood a blonde guy-or a tree-with some shady sunglasses wearing a Fanny pack, enough said.

I squinted my eyes at him, and we stood still for four minutes in the moonlight shining through the wide glass windows.

"I'm Vortwitz Notwer," he held out his hand.

"Right," I turned to the left and went to the counter to pick out napkins to clean my knife.

The only thing I found interesting about him was the fact he didn't have an accent. No offence.

"What's your name?" he asked following me.

"Who the hell are you," I answered as I opened the cash register.

"Ok, I'm your new coworker," he smiled as he put his hands back in his pockets.

"What?" I paused as I was counting the cash.

"The higher ups, they hired me," he looked at the cash.

"They did what?"

I took my phone from my pocket and called one of only two numbers on the contact list.

"Name?" the voice from the other side of the phone asked.

"Karma," I answered immediately. "So, what's this crap about babysitting Voldemort?"

"Mr. Notwer is new to the job, we hope you will be a good team," she said.

"I was never told about this matter, just tell me there's someone else you can send him to," I begged walking back and forth like someone getting a house eviction.

"I'm sorry but this isn't something that could be changed. The higher ups have agreed to this. They say you need a partner," she continued.

I looked back at him, as he shivered looking back at the ashes.

Crap.
