No, was the answer to my question. It has been so long…Maybe I will be here forever…
Suddenly I have an overpowering urge to escape. I start instinctually pecking at the walls for a long time, till they come crashing down.
Above me, I see a massive chicken. It must be 50 feet tall! Then I realize that is not the case. I'm minuscule! All around me is grassland littered with insane amounts of- oh god- “waste”. Until it finally reaches a net. Something mesmerizing is past it. A huge jungle of behemoth-sized trees with connected nets on them that contain all sorts of things, houses- (i think)- and other farms! I realize something- The others are chirping. They are screaming incoherently when the big mama hen lets out a deafening shout.
“STOP YELLING THIS INSTANT!”
Ok ow… my ears hurt. Even though they are so pissed, seeing them makes me feel safe. It is nice.
Behind me, I hear a loud ‘creeeee’ and when I turn around, there is a human. A staggeringly massive giant of a human. Until I see their ears. The ears are long and pointed. They must be elves. Wait.. elves? What the heck is wrong with this place?!
They start walking towards us.
I pray to whatever god may hear me. They walk up to the, or well, my mother. Though, compared to even her, these elves are huge. I hope they aren’t going to kill her.
The younger one pipes up quite happily and looks at mother hen.
“Brenda, you are going to care for these chicks for now, are you okay with that?”
Brenda, the hen, did not like that. “THESE ARE NOT EVEN MINE!” and pecks his legs.
I guess I'm screwed then.
The elf ignores or doesn’t understand her comment, thanks Brenda, and leaves.
Brenda looks at us and sighs. “Well, it looks like I have to.”
At her ease, all the chicks disperse.
“WAIT! AT LEAST BE CAREFUL FOR-”
One of the dumber chicks is standing next to an edge and accidentally falls out of the net.
That's one hell of a fall. He is dead for sure.
Brenda announces, whatever you do, do not get close to the edge.
What do I even do? I don’t know, look at the character screen maybe? Learn something?

At least I'm much less fragile, and since I am not an egg, I have much higher stats, even though that isn’t saying much.
I guess that’s it there, I’m going to explore.
I walk for a second until I see something. A grasshopper. A massive, huge grasshopper. It is as long as I am tall! Then, I get an urge. A disgusting, revolting urge. Eat. I try to hold myself back. I cannot. I peck it. Once, twice, three times! Please die… as I am wallowing in misery as this disgusting thing is dying in front of me. I’m crying internally. I hear squishing, and crunching, it is struggling. It is screeching! It stops moving.
Slayed a creature
Congrats! You killed a level 2 adult grasshopper! 0.02 awarded!
Something from the system popped up, but all that was happening in my primitive chicken mind was, “EAT!” I ate it. It tasted good too… I feel so ashamed but so satisfied at the same time. Then, I remember the notification from the system. EXP? What are levels?
SYSTEM ALERT
Levels are a definition of your strength, when you kill something, you gain EXP, when you gain enough EXP, you level up, giving you stat points, skills, and evolutions.
Woah! That is pretty handy! So I kill things to get stronger!
SYSTEM ALERT
Affirmative
That was rhetorical, but anyway, what can I kill to level up? Besides those, *shudder* grasshoppers.
But what if I die? If these elves are like farmers, they might kill me for meat! They seemed nice but still. Plus, if nothing happens, I will be a farm chicken forever! That would be horrible! Maybe- ugh… I guess… I could kill some grasshoppers.
A loud *creeee* falls over the enclosure again. The elves.
“Dinner time!” Yells the younger one. This time it is two people. A middle-aged man and the child.
I think Oh! Nice, food!
I run towards them and the others as the man dumps a box. Food sounds nice, even after eating the grasshopper, I am hungry! The stuff falls out of the box. It is- what even is that?
It contained unidentifiable rotten plants. My siblings jump all over it, ravenously consuming everything. “I would rather eat the goddamn grasshoppers! What even is this?!” I cluck loudly at them, and the child goes, “Why are they angry?”
Even the man is confused, he probably does not know. So to rile down the child he says, “Maybe they are picky.”
I am furious. “Too picky?! I could get better food at a gas station bathroom!”
*creee* The gate opens as the elves walk out back into the huge tree.
Only now do I realize I not only talked, but also yelled, and in front of all my siblings who were now staring at me.
“Uhhh.”
They stop staring and just go back to eating.
One hollers “HUNGRY!”
Another chick pecks at them screaming “FOOD!”
I can tell Brenda wants to be anywhere else.
I decide to gather grass and set it out to make some sort of nest bed, then I go to sleep hungry.
