Chapter five

(Marlana POV)

“Squad one, fan out and head east. Once you reach ten klicks, I want you to head north and meet up with the rest of the group”

The men placed their hands on their chest and saluted before disappearing into the forest. I then quickly gathered the remainder of my troops and began heading north. It has been four weeks since the incident. Four weeks since the entire Phoenix order was destroyed. Four weeks since Bryan was branded a traitor and a rogue. I was currently ordered to find him and bring him back for trial. Honestly, this man was trouble. I knew we couldn’t trust him. There was so many mysteries surrounding him. Even with the annihilation of the phoenix order, there was only questions not answers.

“You guys keep up. We are not slowing down until we reach the edge of the forest. Make sure to stay together”

We were currently searching the entire Great Forest of Drun. It was a huge forest that had many different kinds of wildlife. Fire like roses could be seen and the trees were filled with diamond like tendrils that snaked to the forest floor. It was honestly a beautiful forest filled with many wonders. But now, even this forest could not escape the dangers of the demon continent.

“Basilisk. Take cover”

Everyone in the group hid in the trees. I looked down and saw a three headed snake. Its body was serpent like and had hundreds of small legs attached to it. Its tail was sharp and had razor like bones attached to it. What was prominent though was its heads. The middle one had a gem carved into it that had paralyzing properties. The two heads on the side had the ability to spit acid and fire at its targets. Each head had its mouth open revealing hundreds of razor sharp teeth. Truly a monster worthy of A class.

“I thought the Basilisk were in the demon continent”

“Haven’t you heard, the demons have conquered part of the human continent. Off course these monsters would be moving up”

“Enough chitchat and get ready to move”

I snapped at my men with a whisper. Aimless talking can only distract us from our mission, plus being discreet is important. I gave them the signal to move up quietly. One by one, each member managed to slide past the creature. I waited until all members passed. Quietly, I ran to the topmost branch of the tree and jumped to the other side. I looked back at the basilisk hoping that it wouldn’t notice me. To my surprise, it was gone. One moment it was there, then the next gone. I suddenly felt dread.

“GET AWAY FROM HERE NOW!”

Every man scattered into different directions. I stood their alone, hoping to at least keep the basilisk at bay till my men get out.

*woosh*

I quickly dodged to the side as a green ball of acid came my way. A tree was hit and acid slowly ate its way through it. In a matter of seconds, the acid had spread throughout the entire tree dissolving it in seconds.

“Screeeeeechh”

I looked to the side and saw the basilisk in its entirety. It was even more gruesome at front with its shedding scales and death like odor. I took a pair of glasses from my bag and equipped it. The dark lenses was meant to help lessen the effects of the paralysis, though it didn’t stop the effect from occurring. I then equipped both of my sword and lowered my stance. The basilisk looked at me as if it was analyzing my entire being.

Without warning the middle head lashed out. I quickly slid underneath it and stabbed my sword underneath its neck. My sword barely penetrated it though since the skin was really thick. I then tried to invoke a fire spell into the wound. Nothing happened, and I was forced to pull my sword out just as another head came lashing out. I kicked the head away and managed to jump back a few feet away from it. I could barely manage to land as fireballs came flying at me from the other head. I desperately tried to jump to side which made me lose my grip on my sword. It embedded itself on the ground a few feet away.

Shit

I tried to get it back, but the basilisk quickly attacked. I placed my other sword sideways blocking its mouth from grabbing at me. Using its force, I then jumped back and managed to land at a tree.

“FIREBALL”

I pointed my hand towards it as fireballs began appearing from my hands. Before the fireballs managed to hit it though, the flames disappeared as they collided with some kind of shield.

Just as the book said, this things nullify all forms of magic attack

I then raised my hand above my hand testing to see if it was impervious to magic in other areas.

“ROCK SPEAR”

Mana gathered underneath the creature and a huge spike formed. That too did nothing as the rock lost its magical makeup from the basilisks’ shield like aura. The pillar crumbled and the basilisk stood there unscratched. The creature seemed to be enjoying itself as it casually walked underneath the tree as I continued to lob fireballs at it. I then noticed that it was actually smiling.

This thing is dangerous

This was not going good for me. I quickly jumped to the next tree as acid rained from below. It kept spitting out acid after acid as I continuously dodged each shot. I need to think of something. Right now I was losing, and something tells me that the Basilisk knew.

“Arghhh”

I felt pain searing through my legs. I lost my footing and instantly fell to the forest floor. My mind almost blanked out, but the pain kept me from passing out. I looked at my leg and sure enough, it was burned. The flesh was rotting and the smell of burnt flesh was on the air. At least it wasn’t the acid. I could only think of that as I looked at the creature walking towards me.

This is it, huh. After all this years, I finally get beaten by these monsters

I couldn’t help myself and began laughing. Ever since I was young, I’ve trained myself to always do better. I’ve fought, I’ve lost and I’ve won many battles. But it’s only now that I’ve realized that even as the kingdoms imperial mage, I’m still weak. I kept laughing at myself. At least I know that I’ve tried. I looked at the monster. It looked befuddled as it stared me right in the eyes. It was so close to my face but I oddly felt no fear. Instead I smiled.

“Well, what are you waiting for? I thought you wanted to eat me up”

I flicked its nose. That seemed to have done it. It leaned back its head. Then as it struck I closed my eyes accepting my death.

Wait. Why am I still alive? I opened my eyes only to see that someone else was in front of me. It was a girl, and she was wearing clothes I’ve never seen before. It was some sort of jacket that had overlaying colors of green and brown. She had a full green skirt on that had metal paddings on either side. She was also wearing some type of headwear that was a boxed circular shape, and she was wearing hard leather boots that complemented her green and brown stockings. What really stood out was her weapon. It was an intricately designed spear with a knife attached to the bottom of the pole. The shaft itself was weirdly designed in that it was wider on the end and narrow on the front. I can’t even begin to describe what it was, but one things for sure. This girl had stopped the middle head by stabbing it dead center in the head.

“Are you ok”

The girl had deep feminine voice that gave her an older sister type vibe. She then pulled her spear loose and the entire basilisk collapsed on the ground. Surprisingly, the other two heads were missing and only flesh could be seen. What power does this girl have to have taken out a basilisk in one try?

“I… I…..m ok…”

The girl nodded. She then placed her hand on her ears.

“She’s the last one huh? Ok, I’ll bring her along”

She then turned towards me, her previous calm appearance now filled with bloodlust.

“You will have to come with me”

I tried to move away. Something tells me that she was not a person I should mess with. I tried to stand up and run away. I made it a couple of feet before I felt the wind surround me. Before I knew it, I felt something hit me in the head knocking me to the world of dreams.

Authors note: Let the naming begin lol

(Bryan POV)

“One, two, three, four”

“”””””””””””””””””””One, two, three, four””””””””””””””””””””

In front of me, a group of girls were practicing on how to use a bayonet. They have been constantly doing this for the past weeks and have won against many monsters in the forest. I watched as they practiced each step against a practice dummy.

“One”

They all lowered their rifles to a slant that prevented any type of swinging attack against them.

“Two”

They all jabbed forward and then spun backwards in a low stance. They then kneeled and aimed right in front of them.

“Three”

Their rifles clicked in unison. They didn’t have any live ammo, but if done correctly the shot would have been a fatal one on their opponents. They then jumped forward spinning their rifles above their head which would have cut anyone in the vicinity.

“Four”

They then transitioned to a low stance and quickly jabbed at the dummy once again. All the practice dummy were wrenched from their stands as they were impaled all the way to the ground. To finish it off, the bayonets were twisted into the targets. A killing move that opens the body allowing blood to rush out. They all pulled their rifles back and stowed them behind their backs. They then proceeded to pick up the dummies and place them back on their pedestals. I stood and waited until every girl was once again standing in front of me.

“Well done girls. You have all worked hard. Honestly, I can’t see you all as the same before. As of this moment every one of you are all professional fighters”

I smiled to see the smile on every girl’s face. They all looked very happy. After destroying the phoenix order, I decided to build my city without help from Artura. I couldn’t trust her kingdom to help me anymore after learning the truth about the kingdoms noble system. Off course in starting a city, I’m going to need a professional army. I was planning on looking for people, but I decided to ask the girls what they wanted to do first. At the end of it all, they all pretty much wanted to stay with me and become professional soldiers. So I gave them my knowledge. I cheated a bit in that I gave them memories of my fighting ability, but in the end it was up to them to decide what they wanted to do with that knowledge.

I also managed to recreate rifles in this world. I used the design of the old m1 grand but these guns were a bit special. Their ammos are self-created in that all you need to do is add dirt in the magazine. The magic circuit I added then enforces the dirt and shapes it into a bullet. The firing mechanism is also special in that it uses a mana stone which I recently discovered had the ability to take mana in the surrounding and store it. I then used a firing pin that discharges part of that energy and creates a force equivalent to a small explosion. In other words, these rifles were self-producing and would never fail in the battlefield. I also managed to create many other things from my old world, like communication devices, sewage system and food. Yeah I really felt that I'm cheating.

“Bryan Sama”

I looked at the edge of the training ground to see Bridget. She was a black haired girl with purple eyes. She was average height and seemed to carry the aura of a noble woman. Also, she was the leading sniper in the entire group. That was because her eyes could see a distance. That’s why I decided to attach a scope on her rifle and made the barrel longer. Adding the fact that she had far vision, the scope increases her killing distance to about 2 and a half miles away. A scary distance to kill. She ran up to me, hugging me in the arm. This girl acts differently than she should, but I guess it shows that she’s healthy. I suddenly felt a cold atmosphere around me, though I decided to ignore it.

“Hey Bridget. How did the patrol go?”

She smiled. She separated herself from me and gave me a report. I opened it, but I only felt a slight annoyance.

“Marlana huh. I was sure that they would never go here”

We were currently in demon continent soil. Well, just barely. This was only a few miles from the Promised Land that Artura gave me. But still I didn’t expect them to find us so quickly. I’ve anticipated that they were tracking me down. I mean, I did just destroy an entire organization. One that actually had a hand in sustaining the kingdom thus far. That’s why I decided to become a rogue hero, so that they never learn what the phoenix order actually did.

Please, promise me that nothing will be shown to the world

I still remembered that man’s voice. His ideals, his past. I remember all of it. I looked at Bridget who seemed to be anticipating a reply.

“Bring them to the newly built villa. Have Electra and Hilda guard them and make sure they switch with Kini and Nari every few hours. Also, have faith check up on their wounds. They must have had a rough time”

She bowed.

“As you wish”

Before I could react she then kissed me on the cheek. She then quickly left the grounds joyously skipping to the exit. Just what is up with her today? And what was that kiss for. It was probably some kind of traditional parting in her culture. I’ve spent so much time with these girls, and they just keep doing strange things I can't seem to understand. I sighed. I then looked back at the other girls only to find twenty girls standing right in front of me.

“Eh, girls? Um… What is…”

“No fair”

They all looked at me with eyes of contempt. Honestly it felt as if I was guilty of some kind of crime. Why is it that every girl I meet seems to see me as the perverted or idiotic kind of guy. Ahhhh why are girls so complicated to understand. Its been weeks and I still don't understand them. Sigh, well I guess I'll just have to keep trying. Anyhow, away from all that, it’s almost time for dinner. I wonder if I should cook beef stew today.

Authors note: Well it's official. This is now coming with a harem tag. Not going to lie, at first I was planning on doing half male and half female slaves. But then someone commented about the slaves in a harem. I Rofl so hard. I was going to tell him, "nah their not all females" but then I thought about it. Who wouldn't want to have a harem of female soldiers capable of beating up others. After that it just stuck with me lol so thank you to whoever gave me that idea XD

Also, yes. I'm giving each of the slaves names. Yes they have their own abilities. And yes they are all important equally. Of course Riesse and Ciel are more important, but that's for another day. XD

Also, to those who would say "you promised to write about city construction." In my defense, this chapter made my story flow easily. Also i did list some things that are currently being built. And next chapter, I really promise to write about the coming city. So, sorry for the inconvenience.
