Chapter 8 Questionable knowledge

This is amazing. So many book's. And then there is all this equipment. And those strange things in the containers. I may not have had a doctor in chemistry but even I can see that all of this seems very advanced. Oh by the way I got two doctors actually my first one being in history. But more about that later.

The mosaic and the pedestal of course caught my eye the heaviest but I have all the time I need, so no rush. I go to the nearest table and look at the books lying on it. Who ever lived here is long gone. There is a thick layer of dust covering anything. I put my finger on it and wipe over the book. Of course nothing happens but it's the thought that counts.

A book on top of a tower of books is my target for now. The leather it's bound in is a nice navy blue and the letters on it are very finely drawn.

"I can't read it." I slump my shoulders and sigh. Of course I can't read it. But it also doesn't seem like a language from my world. I spoke four languages before but this doesn't look closely to any I know. Hmm maybe info will help. I touch it and request information.

Item. Book. Guide to the ocean of dreams. Written in High Imperial. Written by Christopher the Wiseman. This book is about the theory of the dreamscape of intelligent creatures.

My status windows are in english nur this book is in a language called high imperial. That would explain why I can't read it. Hmm the contents seem more esoteric than scientific, but this is a world where magic exists. This book may very well be the fruits of hard labor and experimentation. I kinda wanna read it now. Hmm let's try another book first though.

Left besides this book is a smaller book bound in yellow. The letters here are bold and crude. This seems to be more of a journal. Of course I touch it for info.

Item. Book. Torgus Skinflayers cookbook. Written in demonic. Written by Torgus Skinflayer. This book is about the best ways to prepare human flesh and cooking it to perfection.

This novel is published on a different platform. Support the original author by finding the official source.

I didn't know what I expected but I didn't expect this. I have several questions. What language is demonic? Like demons demons? Like from the Bible? Or like the one that Socrates was talking about? Well this one seems to be eating humans so I will go with modern fantasy for now. Also the name Skinflayer doesn't sound like a demons name if you ask me.

I guess I could see why someone would keep a book like this though. I mean the only one who knows better about flesh than a doctor would be a cook. But seriously? A demonic cookbook? What's next? A book about fantasy metals? I snort at the thought. And touch the next book a big one, brown with bold letters.

Item. Book. How to melt dragon bones volume 1. Written in dwarfen. Written by Borkus Soulhammer. A book about melting and smithing with bones.

If I could touch this book I would throw it across the room right now. Melting bone for smithing? Come in that's a bit much even for fantasy! And it's even only the first volume! And it's written by a god damn dwarf too?! What's up with all this questionable knowledge?! I wanna posses this book and rip...

I froze. Wait can't I just possess these books to gain their knowledge? I check the description for Possession again. Yes! I can possess objects! I'm such a genius when I get angry. Then again I wasn't really angry more annoyed. Seems like I'm still human despite my situation. That makes me kinda happy.

So I started possessing every book on the table and learning their contents. Now possessing an item feels very different from a living being. First there is no mind to invade. Just cold nothing. Second I feel just like before. No weird calling myself the book. And third I float. Yep. That's right my friend. Everything I possess starts floating and I can move the pages like their part of me. I feel like a poltergeist like this.

And I take everything about this being strange back. The book about cooking humans for example. I had a friend who taught anatomy and this book is as accurate as everything he showed me. This is amazing actually. I would have to call this Skinflayer and da Vinci one of a kind apart from the cooking. The drawings are accurate and fine. The wording is crude but on point. And the accuracy of the human anatomy is almost frightening.

This is great. So much knowledge. I exit a book about the theory of magic metal existing in dwarfen blood and look around. Who ever these all belonged to must be a genius that doesn't discriminate about race or origin and uses all knowledge. I really wanna meet this person and talk with him. And then possess him and learn all his secrets. But for now I will make due with his library.
