I start by carding out a crude palm with indentations to fit the fingers. I make it quick since it doesn't have to be perfect. Then I make each finger segment and put some small woodenpins in to make them moveable. Aaand done! I take the right hand and move it up. Then I try moving each finger. They move but they're very crude so they don't move smoothly. Well it's not temporary so I'm happy with this first try. I move both hands to my side and shake them. "Cha cha cha!" I say as I execute the perfect jazz hands.
Anna stares at me. I stare back. W-well it's not like she actually knows what jazz hands are so her silence is to be expected. I'm not hurt, I'm not. More importantly I hand Anna her dagger back. I won't need it for the next part. I snap some bigger branches from a tree nearby and float them over to my workspace. Next I strip it of smaller branches and leaves. This wood comes from a dark tree and the wood is equally dark and hard.
But since this is a dungeon tree it's a lot harder than normal wood anyway. I would say it's as hard as iron if not harder. That of course again speaks volumes about the daggers sharpness. But I digress, now is crafting time. I activate my skill and focus a mana blade into existence. It's as sharp as I put mana into it so I allocate one thousand points. It sprouts from my finger and I then start slowly and meticulously carving my new hands. I talk without taking my physical eyes of my project. "Anna, please go and hunt some prey. Something with soft fur if you may." Anna nods and vanishes into the undergrowth.
I take my time carving each finger and each component. My astral perception gives me the perfect view of the material and zwi helps me by pointing out slight differences in thickness on some parts. It takes me quite a while but then I'm done. Before my lay two perfectly crafted puppethands made from dark wood. I didn't carve finger nails since it didn't seem important to me. I look around but I can't detect Anna nearby. Seems like she still needs a bit. I wonder how many she's hunting. Well I guess I carve some runes into them and decorate while I wait.

----------------------------------------
She stalks her pray. The trees give her cover. Her new limbs make moving easier and her dagger has more reach now.
The rustling of a bush. A flash of red fur. The sound of a blade. The smell of blood.
She is extra motivated on this hunt since she met her great teacher again. He even gave her all this power and named her again.
The sound of hooves. Two pairs. Four pairs. Six pairs. Eight pairs.
She was surprised to see his body was made from old skin and metal. But the eyes were so gentle. Her heart was captured all over again.
A silent fall. The flash of a blade. The warm feeling of blood. Panicked hooves. Silence.
He instructed her to hunt prey with soft fur.
A tuft of brown. A white tail. Brush.
So she would hunt.

I carve a rune in each palm. This has to be precise but that's no problem for someone like me. The runes I carve are so called 'focus runes'. They function similar to a magic crystal in that they can be used to focus your mana through them to cast and reduce the mana loss. Now I bet that raised several questions for you didn't it? Well let me teach you. "Warning. Delusionally talking to yourself can lead to mental instability and further soul wave desynchronization." ...zwi please stop being mean. I'm gonna cry I swear. Sniff.
Ahem. Before I casted without a medium. While that is possible thanks to my skill 'magic power control' skill. If you don't have that or something similar then you'd need a medium to cast through. There you have several options one of them being a focus rune. I'll be using one of those since it makes spells more stable and decreases waste when casting bigger spells. Also I don't have a anything else I could use as a medium. Oh I should maybe mention that elves, yes those exist here too, have a gem on the back of they're hand, called a soulgem, through which they cast.
According to several studies and theory's, is the chance of a halfelf getting a soulgem at around 40%. Ah right I forgot to mention that apparently all species that are humanoid can interspecies breed. So there should be a lot of half's and half's walking around in theory. But that's a topic for a different lesson because I detected Anna again. And she brought a lot of game with her. Let's see I count one deer, two foxes, one wolf and four... bunnys. The heck?
