Intercepted By The Gollunk Masters

"Boy, point us in the direction of the Sword Hero's party," A voice suddenly called to him from the side.

"Huh?" Ingal exclaimed while turning.

"I said, point us in the direction of the Sword Hero's Party. They must have come around here, right?"

Ingal raised his head to stare at the figure who was currently speaking.

It was a grumpy-looking six-footer who had a massive double ax resting on his left shoulder. He looked quite intimidating.

Behind him was a group of four. Two men and two women all dressed in fine outfits that pretty much depicted that they weren't the random bunch.

Ingal had a troubled look as he stared at the young six-foot-tall man with an orange beard.

"They... went in that direction," Ingal pointed in the opposite direction of where Morningster and the others headed.

"Good kid," The grumpy-looking buff man turned and headed forward with the rest of his team.

Unbeknownst to them Ingal had sent them in the wrong direction.

'Why did I do that?' Ingal wondered.

After some time he realized that he was just worried that this group didn't have their best interests at heart. He wouldn't want anything to disturb the focus of the Sword Hero's party at the moment and it would be even worse if he was responsible for it.

He did feel a little guilty for misleading them but he decided not to think much of it. If they had any business with the Sword Hero's Party they could talk to them when they returned after dealing with the leader of the Gollunks.

Ingal brought out a snack and began feasting on it while waiting for his party members to return.

....

Slash! Slash!

Within a space inhabited by a plethora of four-limbed creatures with inexplicably long upper bodies, a battle was ongoing.

These creatures were greenish and walked on two legs like humans except for the fact that their faces looked vicious. They bore long fangs and happened to possess short horns above their skulls.

Their arms were also incredibly lengthy, reaching the ground despite their ten-foot-long bodies.

Chaos had broken out as Princess Valerie and Ezrel dealt with a bunch of these creatures that were trying to get close to where the Sword Hero was positioned.

"Wind Scythe," The grimoire before her emitted a soft rhythmic glow as she swung her arm sideways.

A massive blade made from wind, swept forward, slicing a bulk of these creatures into two clean halves.

Beside her, Ezrel stabbed his spear into the jaw of one of the creatures while another one held onto his head from behind.

Ezrel raised his spear and spun it with force.

Sweeeeiii~

The pointy tip, tore the flesh of the beast behind him, causing it to let go as it growled in pain.

Ezrel instantly turned around and stabbed his spear into its chest.

The spear drove in so deep, that it pierced out the back of the creature.

Green blood flowed down the body of Ezrel's spear, staining his hand but this didn't affect his grip in the slightest as he raised the ten-foot large creature and sped forward with intensity.

Puchiiii~ Phhiiii~ Puchhiii~

He continuously stabbed one creature after the other, causing a pile of them to be stacked on his weapon.

On the west was Ekiel and Bright who did a good job of reducing the strain on Ezrel and Valerie.

Ekiel's fingers never stopped moving as barrages of arrows rained down upon the creatures around from his bow. Blood had drenched the floor of the rocky space as arrows continuously tore through the skulls and guts of the beasts.

Bright conjured some dark giants one after the other, who clashed with these creatures. They couldn't do much due to their size which made their heads crash into the ceiling but they still did well to take out a bunch of these beasts.

Up ahead, Sword Hero Morningster leaped from the head of one Golunk to another, trying to reach the one who looked quite different compared to the others.

He didn't bother killing a bunch of them as their aim happened to be the one that stood out from the rest.

Although they were getting quite the XP from taking down the Gollunks, Sword Hero Morningster wasn't looking to wipe the creatures out.

According to the adventurer's guild, they had become bolder and started trespassing outside the range of the caves to attack innocent passers-by and nearby towns.

It had been explained that this was because of their new chief since they would usually stay in their lane but were now getting bolder.

All they had to do was kill the Chief Gollunk and things would fall back into order.

However, it seemed like this chief happened to be a coward as Sword Hero Morningster watched it flee.

He squinted his eyes and leapt further ahead but two massive Gollunks suddenly appeared in view.

Fwwhiii~

With a wave of their hand, Sword Hero Morningster was sent flying.

He slammed into the rocky wall by the side and landed on one knee.

[ - 25 Hth Points ]

He stabbed his sword onto the ground for support and looked ahead with an intense expression.

Above the heads of the two Gollunks who were each fifteen feet tall and extremely muscular, Sword Hero Morningster could see the titles of these newly arrived monsters.

[ Gollunk Master: Level 56 ]

[Hth: ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ ]

[ Gollunk Master: Level 57 ]

[Hth: ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ ]

One was level 56 and the other 57. This information surprised Sword Hero Morningster. It was rare to see creatures that were not the leaders of their group reach that level since monsters were usually more powerful despite their levels.

At this level, these beasts would be able to take on adventurers that were above level 60. Only level 70 adventurers would be able to defeat them with ease.

Sword Hero Morningster swiftly rolled to the side as one of them swung its massive hand at him.

"Violent Slash!" Sword Hero Morningster chanted as his blade glowed furiously and he hacked at the arm of the Gollunk Master.

The level 56 Gollunk Master growled in pain as long gashes appeared all over its arm.

Sword Hero Morningster was about to swing at other parts of its body when the other one hurled a massive boulder at him.

He reacted quickly by flipping forward and landing on the incoming boulder, before using it to propel himself forward.

His sword drove towards the face of the level 57 Golunk Master who responded by reaching out to catch it.

Morningster's Sword pierced into its massive hands causing it to scream out he hacked downwards with intensity, splitting the entire arm in two.

Bam!

A massive leg slammed into Sword Hero Morningster from the side. The attack came from the first Gollunk Master.

Sword Hero Morningster made use of the force to do a backflip in mid-air as he approached a rocky wall. He proceeded to stamp his feet onto the wall and propel himself forward with intensity.

The level 56 Golunk Master hadn't expected this and was shocked to see a blazing Sword appear before its face.

Sword Hero Morningster stabbed his blade into the creature's eye, causing a sizzling sound to ring out as it growled even louder in pain.

Grrruhhhhhhhh~

He pulled the sword out and proceeded to slash at the legs of the creature multiple times, causing it to stagger and fall.

Blinded in its left eye, the level 56 Gollunk Master couldn't even see what was happening in the background.

All it could hear was the painful growls of its partner and flesh-ripping sounds. It seemed as though Sword Hero Morningster had left it briefly to deal with the other one.

[ Level 57 Gollunk Master Killed ]

[ + 1700 XP ]

Sword Hero Morningster turned to the side after slaughtering the first and quickly closed in on the second.

"Fatal Strike!"

With a precise stab to the lower chest area, Morningster's Sword pierced the heart of the level 56 Gollunk Master, instantly snuffing out its existence.

He noticed that the XP acquired from killing them was quite high but their objective was still the Gollunk Chief.

Sword Hero Morningster gazed ahead and noticed that the creature was already out of sight.

"You're not getting away," He muttered before charging forward with speed.

....

Pah!

A crisp slap rang out in a part of the trade caves as a teenage boy staggered backward and fell on his butt.

"Why did you lie to us brat?!" A six-foot grumpy young man with an orange beard shouted in annoyance.

"Axel, what the hell is wrong with you?" One of the group of four behind him held his arm which was raised to prevent him from dishing out another slap to the young boy before them.

"Let go of me you wench," Axel shoved the young lady aside and inched closer to the boy on the ground.

Ingal who had just received the hefty slap, held his face with a frightful expression.
