The Boots in the Lab

The Boots in the Lab

Waking up in the morning, the cat stretched out its arms and look out towards the window. The cat slowly got up and hesitantly walked over towards the window. Reaching it, the cat slowly put one of its paws out near the window before a knocking sound came from the door.

The cat then jumped back inside and hid under the desk near the window. As more knocking sounds cam from the door, the cat looked around under the desk to see if there was a better place to hide.

The sound of knocking came once more but this time it seemed it came from above the desk. A few moments later, the loud sound of glass breaking came from above with large pieces of glass falling onto the floor in front of the desk. The cat quietly walked closer to the wall in an effort to not be seen.

Seconds after the glass breaking, a large sound came from overhead, and following that, a pair of black boots came into view as they fell from above. The cat silently watched as these boots swiftly moved across the room.

Eventually, the boots looked like they were far enough, so the cat sneaked along the edge of the room and came into contact with a door that was slightly opened. The cat tried to squeeze itself through the door, but the door moved a little causing the boots to stop and point in the cat’s direction. After a few seconds the boots walked away in a different direction.

The cat looked around the room to see if there was anyplace to hide. In the middle of the room, there was a king-sized bed, and right in front of the bed, there was a full-sized mirror. Along the sides of the room, there were various skeletons of animals standing up.

While the cat was looking for a space to hide, it heard the footsteps coming closer, so it dived under the bed. As soon as it hid under the bed, the door slowly opened, and the cat saw the boots stop right at the door. It felt like it stayed there for a few hours before the boots left the room and closed the door.

The cat left the bed and walked next to the door and sat down. After a few minutes, it heard the footsteps fade away. The cat however, stayed near the door for more than 30 minutes before jumping to grab the knob of the door to open it.

On the other side of the door, there was the room the cat had once been in. However, in this room, it looked exactly the same as it was before the boots came in. The cat walked over to the desk where it usually left the building from, however there were no pieces of glass on the ground where it should have been.

The cat jumped onto the desk and looked at both the window and the desk. The window looked completely normal, with no cracks on its glass, however there was something on the desk. There was a blue book with the picture of a black cat on it. The cat ignored the book and looked back at the window and noticed it was completely shut unlike usual.

The cat jumped down from the desk and went back to the corner it slept in. It heard the faint sound of a door opening before giving into its desire to sleep.
