Bo Fu had been in closed door cultivation for the past 50 years and he was confident that he could reach halfway through the mid stage when he exited in 20 years. He had been closing in on an epiphany when he was interrupted by a screen appearing in front of him.
The sudden appearance broke his concentration and shocked him to his very core. Who could dare interrupt him in the safest part of his very own sect
[ Tremble before true power and kneel before me mortal! ]
Y/N
After reading what it had to say rage filled him and he unleashed his aura swiping away the screen

After rejecting his invitation the man flared out his aura. This guy is posturing after rejecting me? What the hell? Ignoring the growing urge to smite him Wyatt turned his attention away. Why would he reject me? He wondered. A few possibilities popped up in his mind, the foremost being suspicion. If a random system prompted me to be a user and I was in a cultivation world what would I do?
Speaking of what did the system prompt say to him?
Maybe he could change it to offer something?
As he thought of that another screen popped up

Oh. they all cost energy, right that makes sense. Of course it costs energy. But he needed users to collect energy for him and he didn’t want to squander what energy he had. Hmm higher cultivation individuals who had never heard of “systems’ would probably think he’s some body snatching elder trying to lure them in. realistically the best option was to start with someone who was either a mortal or in the qi condensation stage.
He decided to make out an ideal user list for himself. Thinking about it if they’re weaker isn’t that better for me? Although they’ll provide less energy for me, I won't have to spend as much energy on them too. Is that why system’s are always so stingy? It would be best if he could find some weakling near a spirit vein or something similar so he could just get them to acquire it for him.

As he looked around the continent he saw a group of children surrounding a man in what he could generously call a backwater village. The cultivator who was only at the early foundation establishment stage basked in his new found glory as villagers bowed to him. Was this the legendary village recruitment scene? This was perfect for the birth of an MC!
He focused on the children flocking around the cultivator and saw that only 2 of the kids had spirit roots. He quickly scanned all the kids and found that none of them were special in any way except the 2 spirit root kids.
He quickly hatched a plan and picked the stronger looking of the 2 spirit root kids

Wyatt turned his attention to the Heavenly flame sect and was immensely disappointed, but not totally surprised. Being in a backwater county it was kind of expected, the strongest person in the sect was at the great circle of core formation but from the looks of his life force he wouldn’t be reaching nascent soul in this lifetime. There were 3 other core formation elders with 2 being at the mid stage and 1 being at the peak of the early stage.
Cultivation in this world wasn’t too different to novels Wyatt had read as a kid. It started with Qi condensation which had 9 stages where qi was condensed from the surroundings into the dantian, then moved to foundation establishment in which the condensed qi would be used to break through the blocked meridians. There were 7 sets of meridians to break through in which the first 2 were early stage, the 3rd, 4th and 5th were mid stage and the 6th and 7th were late stage.
These stages were considered as the most important stage for cultivators as the foundation would determine how far a cultivator could go, and the qi condensation stage determined how well your foundation could be built.
Obviously Wyatt wanted his system users to be omnipotent under the heavens! But unfortunately he didn’t know any cultivation techniques, and the way it was looking right now Tai would end up learning some shitty backwater cultivation technique.
He opened up the store again and scrolled down to cultivation techniques but found that the cheapest was 30 energy and rated [extremely weak] honestly that wasn’t much of an indicator of strength considering he had only seen a few [weak] rated cultivators and even 1 cultivator with a [common] rated cultivation technique! Unfortunately he couldn’t just rip it from the fellows mind.
Sorting the whole shop (‘rewards’) by “least expensive to most expensive” (a very useful feature) he tried to see what he could give his first user
[Rewards]
(item) Spatial bag 1 energy
(item) Flying sword [Extremely Weak] 1 energy
(skill) Fireball [Extremely Weak] 1 energy
…
He continued to scroll, despair filling him with how useless the cheap items were until finally he came across something useful.
[stat page] (basic) 10 energy

WTF. Why was such a vital system skill hidden away! It was what made systems systems! Surprisingly it cost the exact amount of energy he had. Although it wasn’t the only 10 energy skill it felt pretty fishy to Wyatt. The description was also pretty basic and without prior knowledge he would’ve most likely scrolled past it. Without hesitation he selected it as the reward. Then he tried to shape his intent into a message and clicked ‘Add User’.

[ The Heavens Have Presented You With An Opportunity ]

Tai stared in front of him with eyes as wide as saucers. He had never seen anything like this before. Was it the immortal? But when he looked at him all he could see on the immortal’s face was a profound expression with no acknowledgement of Tai. Was this an opportunity presented by the heavens themselves? Had the heavens truly chosen him? This had been the most exciting day of his life, with a real immortal coming to his village to bless them with a chance at entering the Heavenly flame sect. This was something every kid dreamed of!
Panicked that he would miss out on the blessed opportunity presented by the heavens he looked around and quietly whispered
“Yes”
He suddenly felt a cool sensation wash over him followed by a searing heat in the centre of his forehead that caused him to grunt as the pain faded he saw another screen pop up.
