Want

A day passed after the bird men arrived. They keep giving looks at my body but I'll imagine it wasn't... Anyways, the sun was up and the work had started. The elves didn't really change anything though they still think the golden leafed sapling was my friend and take care of it, of course not as long as they do for me. It has grown like me but as expected, it's taking on the form of a bean stalk; I can already see the three vines and some other leaves. On the other hand, the bird men were still getting their camp together setting up hammocks now. They were pretty far away from the elves since they settled around the trees. Well, I watched them for a while then saw that once they set up the hammock, it ended up in a big square with the length and width of 20 feet. The color was gray with occasional stitches connecting it together. I think the material is some sort of fur because I could see the fur.

Holding up the hammock was ropes tied to eight trees getting the corners and the center of the sides, some hammocks had different sizes depending on the space. They then found a thick enough branch around the center of their hammock then tied a rope with four large pieces of some fabric I don't know, but it was seamless and seemed light. Once the fabrics were hanged, they grabbed the end of each one and set it over one side of their hammock making something like a roof. There were still gaps in the corner, but they just sewed another piece of the same fabric over it leaving a small gap on one corner... basically they made a hanging tent.

I guess they don't like sleeping on the ground or something, no wonder all of them were looking around the forest. Seeing one of the bird men test their hanging tent, the middle part strangely lowered only a little bit, are they light or is that fur just stiff... Well, later on the day after finishing up their hanging tents, the bird men... even if I say bird men there are woman too. They explored the area and found that there were a ton of fruit trees. There were five types of fruits that I will never get to taste... or...

◄Hey Barbra, am I able to taste the fruits?►

[Master can't, but...]

So there's something similar? I quickly question her about it.

◄But?►

[... I can taste them.]

◄... Wow.►

The conversation ended like that. I was shut down that quickly. There were many good looking fruits I saw the elves eat in the beginning, but I stopped watching them due to certain reasons. They had two red fruits, one is a small sphere of around one inch that hanged on a vine, the other is shaped like a crescent moon... a red banana. One was a blue pentagon which felt very unnatural; it was around four inches thick with six inches in length and width. Another is yellow, then it changes color when it's night to dark blue... it was star shaped with the shape varying from four to eight inches in width and height, the thickness was around one inch. Lastly, the best one is shaped like a plain oval. That wasn't what was best about it; it was transparent with no color! Its size is one foot long, two inches wide, and one inch wide.

When I saw the first time they ate it... all of them had happy expressions on their face, well, it was the same with the other fruits too. I just really wanted to try the transparent fruit, but that day will never come. Back to the bird men, their expression were one of impressed, but when they saw the star and transparent fruit, all of them immediately picked one and ate it. Of course, I was still watching... so lucky. Their faces of joy showed up, tears fell down their... what? Uh... okay, I guess its just that good! I looked away before I had a certain feeling...

...

Four more days passed, I would have ignored talking about this peaceful day, but that was until night came. Around a fire, a few bird men including Brian were talking to each other, as I was shifting my view over there, I heard their conversation.

"This land... it really is a waste to hold such a few people. We should bring the tribes we're friendly with here."

Brian spoke while staring at the fire. The fire was a simple camp fire with rocks they got from the barren land surrounding the burning wood. A bird man to the right of him responded.

"We should, if we do..."

Stopping his sentence, he looked towards my body with glittering eyes from the fire. The other bird men looked towards my body the same way as him, the man then continued his sentence.

"... the tree will be ours."

Oh... well, they want my body that badly... Another bird man pitched in about his worries.

"What about that guardian thing... what if that tree is really divine?"

Yes, they saw the ceremony the elves had to me. They just looked at the elves as if they were crazy. Maybe I would think they were nuts if the things they talked about weren't mostly true... On the worried bird mans words, Brian chuckled and said...

"Impossible, there is no such thing as a divine being. That guardian was just a fairy's sham. Those stupid elves actually fell for it, they should've known better."

Once Brian said that, the other bird men laughed. So they know about fairy's, I guess its pretty common, but they got one thing wrong. Barbra is a tree spirit. Since they didn't hear that, the worried bird man seemed more relaxed and continued the conversation.

"That was silly of me to worry; still, this land seemed so divine like the ones in stories. I've never seen the sky and glass fruit be grown in such amount and size..."

A bird man across from him replied with a look of curiosity.

"True... this land may truly be divine... did you see those mysterious cubes around here? It wouldn't be strange if there were only a few... but there are thousands of them and they're all smooth..."

They all went quiet upon those words. About the cubes, they were the meteors that I left there in case the elves needed it. Since the cubes were too large, I had to change it to a smaller size so they could carry them so it was pretty messy at first. I felt uncomfortable with how messy it was, so since I had a ton of free time I arranged it neatly... I never noticed it was strange until now, maybe it's because I did it myself? The bird men were just thinking when Brian broke the silence.

"Those elves probably made those cubes because of the fairy. Also this land... is just more fertile than others; the Great Spirit forest also had those special spots like this. With this, we smaller tribes could finally claim one."

Right after saying that, the bird men looked like they finally understood with small nods. Brian continued speaking...

"Okay, you guys should go to the Great Spirit forest now. Make sure you packed enough of the fruits in your magic pouch, it should take around two weeks to get there."

"Yeah, don't let the elves find out about this... they seem... too radical."

Saying that, of them grabbed their leather pouches. After reaching inside of it, they attached it to their waists. I guess those three are the ones who will make the trip to the Great Spirit forest. Stanford talked about that place... it seems very violent over there. When the three bird men seemed ready, one of them spoke...

"Hold out over here, we'll be back in three weeks so be patient with the tree."

"I know... they know more about this land than us so I won't cause trouble... when you get back I'll..."

Making a face of anger at the end of his words, Brian looked on at the fire. The three who were leaving looked over one last time then flew off silently. Their speeds were quite fast when they flew. The reason they would take three weeks were probably because they knew the direction of the forest and that speed of a bird. Stanford and the elves took so long since they wandered around aimlessly on feet. Thinking that, the three left my domain and Brian and the few bird men who were left went to their hanging tents.

I'll let this be for a while... there are no bad consequences to have more people living here, it might even become livelier. Well, if they try kicking the elves out... I will protect them and try to make peace, but if they don't want to, I'll... kick them out instead. Some people might never understand...
