Chapter 7: Yorknew x Wanted

Third Person POV (Gon)

The United States of Saherta, Yorknew City, Nnep Station

"Finally, here!"

Gon arrived at Yorknew after traveling for four days non-stop.

"Wow, I never seem to get used to the crowd here.

Somehow it's like there are even more people than before."

The station was packed with people. People of all kinds of life were rushing to get in trains or to enter the city.

"What is this exotic feeling?"

Gon was accompanied by Killua when he came here in the past. He was unfamiliar with this loneliness and the passerby cold attitude. It was different from a small town like Dolle Harbor. It could still be considered a rural area.

Gon planned to ask information about the closest art galleries before he went to a hotel.

Most men didn't even bother to stop by. He only got some info from a nice woman after several attempts.

"I'll grab some food and find a place to stay before I start searching for Zepile.

I remember him saying he was a carver before he became an antique trader."

Gon sat by the fountain outside the station as he thought of his next move.

…………………………………………………

5:17 PM, Downtown,

Entourage Hotel,

"Hello sir, how can I help you?"

The receptionist asked in a considerate tone as the hotel's automatic doors opened.

"I'd like a room, please. The cheapest one will do." Gon said.

"It will be 520 Jennys a night sir…"

Her tone changed when she noticed the kid's appearance and the other customers' whispers.

"I'll take that then. Please give me the key." Gon noticed her change of attitude but didn't care.

"How many nights, sir? You'll have to pay upfront."

"Two weeks, can I get the key now?" Gon said a bit annoyed as he put bills on the counter. At first, he wanted to leave when he heard the price, but the girl's apparent disdain changed his mind.

The hotel was situated downtown, and the price was a bit high. But it was close to the cultural center, and Gon would have better prospects to find Zepile by lodging here. If he sold the rest of the sharks, he would have enough to stay for two months.

"Thanks for your patronage, have a nice stay." The girl blushed in shame and apologized after counting the money. As Gon accepted his key and took the elevator, the girl was cursing while the previously superior customers smirked in schadenfreude.

"Strange, folks." Gon shook his head as he headed upstairs.

"Thankfully, I won't have to pawn my hunter license to do what I need to in this life."

…………………………………………..

Two hours later,

Gon had left the hotel after taking a bath. He quickly grabbed some street food before he headed for the nearest Gallery, "Gradients Porch." It was located in the closest residential neighborhood, comparatively to the town center. It was a twenty minutes walk away from his hotel.

As he arrived, Gon finally understood how wealthy this area was. The Gallery seemed to be quite popular. Expensive cars parked in front, while wealthy and elegantly dressed people entered.

There seemed to be some sort exposition going on that day. The entry fee was also a bit high; the money was to donate to charities. Gon, who initially felt overwhelmed by the snobbish atmosphere, smiled as he understood the money would go to the poor.

Gon entered and examined the painting and carvings in silence after paying a fee of 1000 Jennys.

The atmosphere became a bit coarse as soon as he entered.

Today, anyone could visit the Gallery if they paid, so no one talked. But who could have imagined that someone so shabbily dressed could spend that money without blinking?

He continued looking for almost fifty minutes before one of the proud scions couldn't endure and thundered:

"Who's that dirty looking boy? Someone, get him out."

"But, sir…" The gallery manager glanced at Gon hesitatingly and stuttered.

The manager wanted to retort but instantly stopped after he looked closely at the men behind the flamboyant youngster.

"Boy. Leave before something happens to you." The manager gave Gon a sorry smile and whispered in his ear.

"Hm…" Gon wasn't stupid. He also didn't want to create trouble for this kind man. Discerning something, he made his way out while planning to get some more adequate clothes the next day.

"Hmph!" The youngster snorted as he watched the crude boy leave.

The other men that had come with him also grinned victoriously. The other customers didn't feel too well with their smug and aggressive behavior, but they intelligently overlooked the commotion and resumed their discussions.

Gon had yet to pass the door. Under the orders of the manager, one of the waitresses came to appease the customers and offered more beverages. Before she left, one youth started harassing her, even going as far as groping her publicly.

The young woman's appearance was bountiful. It wasn't too difficult to imagine what that man would do to her after this exposition ended. Some of the more courageous customers tried to do something, but their faces went pale when those men put a hand inside their smokings.

The lustful man also gave a few provoking glances at the supervisor.

By now, the manager was already blue from irritation. But seemingly scared by these men, he turned his back and deliberately chose to disregard his employee's pleading gaze.

"This carving dawns from the Damastic duke's era. The observant eye can distinguish the pristine signature of the royal emblem…"

Some of the customers were still talking in whispers, however. They insisted on that guy's terrible reputation and the maiden's lousy luck.

At this precise moment, when the rude and aggressive bunch was gloating:

"Let go of her." Gon said calmly.

The people only now just realized that the boy hadn't left. They didn't understand how he appeared by the side of that troublemaker so fast either.

Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

"What is that boy doing?!"

"Has he gone mad?"

"Haven't you noticed his clothes? That guy is probably a country bumpkin. He doesn't know how he'll die."

The crowd's interest went once again to that tyrannical bunch.

"Boy, I was trying to help you before, but you…"

The manager said, both ashamed and angry. That situation was getting out of hand.

"Hmm?"

Only now did the lecherous youth seem to notice that someone was standing behind him. He was too absorbed in the girl's body.

"Don't worry about me. You should take better care of your staff first."

The manager was embarrassed by Gon's words. The customers who heard stared at him with less sympathy. They wanted to intervene, but they couldn't afford to.

"Boy, I'll count to ten. You better release my hand before I get mad."

The lustful guy's friends also noticed that the boy had come back. The pretentious scion from before took a sip of his glass and looked at this in amusement. He offered the boy a way out, but the boy chose to get clowned.

"1,2,3…"

Some customers put a hand on their eyes as the countdown started. The others left, not wanting to witness that boy's demise. Whether he listened to them or not, he would most likely suffer or even die here tonight.

"...10!"

As soon as the countdown ended, the carnal man threw a wild kick towards Gon. The former's leg was already as big as the boy.

The customers sensed his impending doom. If he received this attack head-on, he would get a few bones broken.

"Bang!"

"Aaa!"

However, when the attack ended, what replaced the worry on the people's faces was an expression of shock.

"My leg!"

That arrogant's guy attack wasn't parried or dodged by the boy. He just stood there and received it.

"Oh, my God! What's that boy body made of?"

"He...broke it?"

"Who's that boy?"

Only now did the previously arrogant group of youngsters seem to pay attention to Gon. Their expressions became somber, and the men behind also took steps towards him.

It was also now that the boy who expelled him earlier also made a hand gesture. Everyone retreated.

He walked closer to Gon and asked:

"Boy, do you know who I am?"

"Why should I know you?" Gon replied curtly.

"Boy!!" The toughest looking man behind, yelled at Gon.

"Uzu, I don't mind. He's interesting." The youth smiled and stopped him.

"Young Master, you don't mean?"

"Don't interrupt me." He smiled and said gently. But the man just shut up after this, seemingly understanding the meaning of something.

"I'll ask you again, do you know me?"

"No, and I don't want to." Gon said with even more assurance.

Silence. Complete silence. Everyone was too scared to say a word at that time. Then whispers resounded once more, with even more enthusiasm than before.

Gon picked up his ears and listened. As he did so, he finally learned who the guy was and what kinds of deeds he committed with this unruly crew.

A local mafia prince, Devyn Blacksands. The son of the third in command of the Yorknew mafia alliance. His family was not only influential in the underground, but they were also involved in the production of clocks and every kind of sand manufactured goods.

They had invested in all sorts of businesses, but their real occupation was arms trafficking.

As Gon grasped this information, he sighed. He had a timer coming from this guy's dirty company. He finally realized how hypocritical he had been in his last life. His sense of justice was flawed, and he only cared about what directly occurred in front of him.

If the situation from today never happened, he would have kept buying goods from those type of people, never caring whether he was feeding a bunch of destructive wolves.

He knew that deciding to stop buying merchandise from them was a bit naive. He and his aunt were simply two customers out of millions. Their actions wouldn't save those greedy criminals from destroying more lives.

"I need to give back to the world in this life…" Gon muttered.

"Huh? Cat got your tongue, kid?

Of course, haha, finally scared kid? Who wouldn't be...ugh," The vicious man said as he groaned due to his injury.

"Stop talking, Jared. Someone get him to a hospital while we take care of this kid." One of his comrades said.

"What I have done besides blindly pursuing my father? No wonder I am still and enhancer even in this life.

Turning a blind eye to everything that didn't affect me. Haha, how selfish was I?" Gon added as he laughed loudly.

No one noticed, but when the words "enhancer" got out from Gon's lips, one of the men at the gangster's back got up.

"What's your name?" Gon finally asked the person most affected by this whole situation.

"My name...Saegusa," The girl stuttered.

"Kid, If you have regrets, apologize now, and I'll let you join our family." The youth called Devyn announced at the same time. It caused even more shock and whispers among the crowd, but Gon just focused on the girl.

"Do you want my help?" Gon asked. His expression was different from the usual. A melancholic smile replaced his usually nonchalant and kind expression.

In his mind, a lot was going on. He understood that even if he saved this girl today, she probably would suffer the same fate later if she didn't value herself.

"I…" The girl seemed to hesitate.

"Boy, your one-man show has gone for far too long." Devyn finally had enough and walked back to his men. "Guys, break a few of his joints and catch that girl. I'll have her become Jared's toy once he recovers." He ordered coldly.

"Young Master, I don't think this is a good idea." The man who got up previously walked to Devyn and said.

"What do you mean?"

"You'll see soon enough." The man didn't talk much, but his stance seemed to indicate he was ready to put his life at risk once things were dangerous for his young boss.

"BANG!"

Gon punched a giant hole in the ground. Debris and dust flew everywhere in the hall. The customers finally panicked and ran.

When the dust settled, the boy looked at the young woman and asked again:

"Do you want to be saved?"

The hall was silent for a moment before the girl nodded her head, completely awed.

…………………………………………..

"What the fuck was that?" The manager looked in horror at the hole in the ground.

The gangsters also panicked after they saw what Gon did. One of them took out a gun and yelled:

"Everyone, kill him!"

The rest of the men followed suit and took their weapons. However, before they could act a voice that seemed to be coming from the deepest hell said:

"You guys left me no choice."

The guy who yelled previously didn't have the time to pull the trigger twice. Before he began his second motion, he saw the rest of his comrades fall, knives in their heads or mouths.

Dead. Completely dead.

"Young Master!" The careful man grabbed the youth and dodged a series of knives coming at them.

"Oh? You can use nen it seems." Gon grimaced and asked after seeing how he moved.

"Who are you, kid?" The man gritted his teeth and asked. He managed to evade three knives, but one of them hit his shoulder. He motioned for his young master to run. The latter was already about to piss himself, so he just exited by the back entrance.

"We're leaving."Gon grabbed the girl and said. He didn't act to kill people. Those few casualties were unavoidable.

"Not so fast!" Before they could exit the place, the manager appeared out of nowhere and put a knife on the girl's throat.

…………………………………………………

Third Person POV: Saegusa

Saegusa initially felt that she was unlucky when that youth came and harassed her.

The reason why she had left the countryside was to avoid that kind of thing. Her mother was abused and forced to marry in the past.

Out of that ungodly union, she was born. She was already 11 by the time people told her of what happened to her mother. She was conflicted initially and felt sorry for her mother. Even if Saegusa was born because of that incident, she hated her family.

The only time she was happy was when her brother came back from the city. Half brother to be more accurate.

He always came back with a bunch of gifts, but she wasn't interested in the things other girls liked. What she loved the most were the carvings he came back with and the art lessons he would give from time to time.

She even fled that god awful place and came to live in Yorknew with him after her father planned an "arranged marriage" for her. Her brother was understanding and told her never to return. She was old enough to care for herself, after all.

She loathed her mother deeply.

It was only after that man from before groped her that she realized how egotistic she had been. She was thinking of living even after that man would be done with her body.

She didn't know what her fate would be, but at least her mother married the guy who defiled her. With a bit of luck, she would end up as one of these irresponsible youngster's toys. At worst, she would be sold to a brothel or become an A.V actress.

She wasn't resigned, but she had somehow already accepted her fate. Her brother couldn't deal with people from this walk of life. He would probably try to avenge her if he learned of what happened today.

"What to do?" When she was feeling anguished, that uncouth boy who was chased out came back and saved her.

But just when she felt safe again, the person she trusted went ballistic and took her hostage.

Third Person POV: Gon

"What's the meaning of this?" Gon asked the manager.

"Haha. Well done, Fred. I never thought you had it in you." The other man laughed and praised.

"Kid, you can only blame your ignorance. Who do you think is funding this place?" The manager grinned fiendishly and said. "I was only trying to act impartially before as a show. I only care about money.

Do you have any idea who you have offended? Those parlor tricks you did won't help you when that youth comes back with that man."

"You also know nen?" Gon asked curiously.

"He doesn't need to. There are levels of strength." The man in the back said. "You're pretty strong, kid. It's such a shame, but your life will end when Emilio arrives here.

If you planned to abandon that girl here, you would have time to flee, however."

The man was curious, so he continued and asked:

"Why do you go so far for a stranger?"

When Gon heard this question, he released a bit of aura and simply answered:

"Why do you people go so far to persecute strangers?"

"This…" His answer stumped the man.

They looked at each other in a stalemate. Gon could kill the bodyguard, but Saegusa would die. The manager also knew it wasn't in his best interests to kill the girl now or force Gon in a corner. Everything would end once that man came.

……………………………………

Police officers encircled the art gallery. After the commotion, some journalists and curious citizens tried to enter and see the dispute. They already had a good idea of the casualties and who was inside. Gon, with his enhanced hearing, was able to hear the cops talking with the passerby.

His smile was artistic as he understood how contaminated they were. He knew Yorknew City was under the control of the mafia, but he had no clue it went as far as this degree.

Third Person POV (??)

A few miles away,

Two people were jumping from rooftop to rooftop until one of them stopped midway.

The girl had long pink hair that reached to her elbows. Her bangs a bit messy, sat bizarrely well with her unfazed and cold demeanor.

"What's wrong, Machi? Don't waste our time; we only came here to take a look at that new guy called Illumi.

We need to get back by Meteor City tomorrow."

"Come here and use Gyo." The girl said while pointing in one direction.

"That's some serious Ren!" The blonde man exclaimed.

"Yes, but that isn't the key." The girl added. "It's a kid."

"Hm…" The man took one good look and said:

"Let's go!"

"What about that kid?" She asked.

"I'll have a few puppets follow him in the next days. Why do you ask?"

"That kid is dangerous." The girl said.

"...Coming from you, that means a lot."

Third Person POV (Gon)

Back at the Gallery,

Two men wearing white from head to toe entered the hall, walking slowly but confidently.

"Paulie, good job" One of the men acknowledged that other guy's presence.

"Now, who…" Before they could ask what's going on, Gon shot like an arrow at the manager the moment he took his eyes off the girl to look at the new duo.

"No, stop him!" The man who talked before realized how fearful the boy's speed was. But it was too late.

"Crack!" Before the manager could even turn his head back in Gon's direction, the latter grabbed him like a child and snapped his head like porcelain.

The boy proceeded to grab back the girl and shout:

"Hang on tight; we're going to fly!"

Gon sped up as they took the exit from the back of the building. The space was extremely narrow, and it was what he needed. As he passed by the kitchen, he grabbed a few knives and stored them.

Then he jumped on one of the nearby roofs and ordered:

"Stay on the ground! Don't let them see you."

Gon then released his' "Ren" in full as he waited for the two men.

As soon as they got out, Gon threw a series of knives:

"Hatsu! Bluster Darts!"

When they sensed Gon's power, they finally panicked.

"Who provoked this monster?!" The man called Emilio dodged a few knives before the boy threw more and with even more speed.

"Hatsu! Ice Coffin!" The man said as he blocked the last wave of knives. However, when he turned his head, he saw his partner's state.

The guy was Impaled!

"A transmuter?" Gon was surprised. His power had already been increased by four times, so he stopped throwing his weapons.

When that expert finally used "Gyo" and sensed that terrifying aura, he turned his back and ran.

"Too late." Gon's nen was insanely responsive at that moment. In two steps, he had covered the distance separating them.

The man desperately rereleased his special skill. The ice surrounded him and acted like a barrier.

"Hatsu!Scissors!" Gon cut. As his motion ended, the ice cracked, and the man was left cleaved in two.

………………………………………………

The next day morning,

Somewhere in Yorknew, Inside an alley

"Sorry, Gon." A girl said as she gave a young boy a poster.

"Hm. I don't look that ferocious, do I?" Gon, who was looking at the poster, joked.

"Pfft, you do when you're fighting." The girl laughed and answered.

"So, what are your plans now?" The girl asked curiously.

"I need to find a man before I leave." Gon replied.

"Hm. What's he called?" She continued.

"He's a carver called Zepile." Gon responded, thinking nothing much of it.

But the girl stayed silent for a long time and looked at him with an odd expression.

"What?" Gon was perplexed. "Is there something on my face?"

"That's probably my brother you're looking for," She finally said.

"What?"
