How to [Not] Outcharm a Succubus 10
When we got back to my place, the morning sun was already painting the sky in golden hues – summer solstice nights are as magical as they are brief. Stas helped me off the scooter, while Roman elicited another burst of squeals and laughter from Adeĺ, sweeping her off the seat and spinning around before setting her on the ground.
«Hey,» he turned to me with a grin. «You girls should totally come watch the scooter race we're entering tomorrow! I'm gonna win!»
Stas smirked. «It will be epic, you both should definitely come. Except, he's bound to lose.»
I couldn't help chuckling. «Sounds fun! We could come up with a special prize for the winner, right?» I looked at Adeĺ for confirmation, but saw her smile fade.
«I can't,» her voice dropped to a whisper. «It's time for me to leave.»
«No way!» Roman's excitement deflated. «That's a bummer!»
His gaze darted to Stas and me, perhaps expecting some miraculous solution.
Stas sighed. «Well. That's unfortunate. But, next time you're here, we'll show you something even cooler. So cheer up, okay?»
«Yea!» Roman's enthusiasm returned. «It'll be the coolest thing you've ever seen, I promise!»
Adeĺ's smile bloomed again, brighter than before. With a happy squeak, she leapt on Roman, wrapping her arms around his neck as their lips met in a kiss. Stas and I exchanged amused glances before leaning in for our own kiss – it was time to say goodbye. Then we switched: Adeĺ threw herself on Stas, while I shared a tender moment with Roman. But when Adeĺ tried to cling to Roman once again, I had to pull her back by her shorts.
«Hey, that's enough! Leave them already!»
With one final wave, the boys sped off, the engines' buzzing faded in the distance. Adeĺ and I stood there, watching them leave, her hand still in a lingering farewell. Once they were out of sight, I turned to her, urged by a nagging question.
«So, weren't you supposed to find your purpose? How come you're already leaving?»
Adeĺ smiled, a bit sad.
«About that… The girls who summoned me really did it by mistake, just as your mother said. They were worried you'd been feeling down lately and wanted to summon a cute familiar to cheer you up.»

«A familiar?» I raised an eyebrow. «And they got you instead?»
She chuckled. «They were quite upset I wasn't something… fluffier. But still, the purpose from the very beginning was to make you happy, I just didn't know how to go about it. But, I've succeeded after all, since my path back is open!» Adeĺ boasted smugly, nose in the air.
Well, in a way, she had. Though more by chance than on her own. A very slim chance, I'd say, nothing to be so proud about… But at least, it all made sense now. Except… Did the girls really… worry about me? I had never thought they'd care.
I noticed Adeĺ was up to something. She hesitated for a moment before producing a small ring, its crimson stone sparkling in the morning light.
«Here,» she held it out for me, looking away as if disinterested. «If you ever need my help, or… you know, if your friends do, use this to summon me.»
I suppressed a smile. Really? If I ever needed some snotty femme fatale's help, I'd "summon" Fira. Just admit you want to meet the boys again and that's it.
Nevertheless, I accepted the ring and slid onto my finger. «Fine. I'll call you if they say they miss you.»
«Deal!» her laughter filled the air. «See you then!»
With that, she stepped back, a swirl of space distortion enveloping her. In a blink, she was gone, leaving me alone in the serene dawn, the night's surreal events feeling like a fading dream. I couldn't help smiling, replaying them in my head while trudging home, overtaken by a late wave of fatigue.
As I entered the house, Mom greeted me in the hallway, smirking while looking me over.
«You're shining. Did something good happen?»
Checking my reflection in the mirror, my hair was a total mess, my fishnet top stretched and askew, no bra – my tan lines glowing through, the shorts unbuttoned… wait… where did my panties go?… No clue… But my eyes sparkled brighter than ever, making the rest insignificant.
«Mo-om…» I whined, half exhausted, half blissed, looking in the mirror with a silly smile. «I'm… so happy.»
«You poor thing,» Mom laughed, pulling me into a hug and kissing my temple. «It makes me happy too.»
As we pulled apart, she told me the girls had dropped by the day before. With apologies. She handed me a scroll they had left, watching as I unrolled it. The scroll revealed a magical drawing of 4 witches riding a majestic dragon through a crayon sky. The lead witch was a brunette, followed by a grinning redhead and two giggling blondes, all waving gleefully. Glittering letters above them read [Bestest Friendines]. Božena's work, no doubts.
I smiled at our little gang. They were so sweet. They were my coven, my second family. How could I've been so angry with them? I'd known them all their lives, teaching them most of what they knew. Together, we summoned funny creatures, brewed waggish potions, shared novel spells and hexes. It was always so much fun… When did I lose that?
«They also brought you a new familiar. Instead of Adeĺ, I assume,» Mom said. «I didn't see it though. They left it in your room.»
Intrigued, I went there, guessing what it could be while ascending the stairs. A cat? Or a crow? Fira's familiar, a raccoon, often caused more chaos than its mistress herself.
Pushing open my door… my jaw dropped. There, perched on my desk, slept… a baby dragon!
«M… Mo-om!» I called, taken aback.
Quickly checking, Adeĺ's ring was still on my finger. She might know how to handle these things…
Darkness! I hate these brats!!!
