How I became a [Lich King]
Chapter Four: Prison Break, a Construct, and a blade of flame, what's next?

Chapter Four: Prison Break, a Construct, and a blade of flame, what's next?

Alvin was a typical [Guard]; his assignment was the dungeons, the equivalent of, as far as he knew, the Broken Hells, so when a B-rank ran past him into one of the cells, he didn't know what to do, Celeste was well respected, loyal to a fault and obeyed to orders of fledgling Adventurer's Guild faithfully after she ran past him a few seconds later, he had to check, the cell she had visited was A3-9-24 the prisoner was apparently a captured [Lich], a powerful blight in the world, he checked the cell and panicked, it wasn't there, for a few seconds he was frozen then he realized he had to sound the alarm.

When the alarm started, I had been out of the [Lich] cell for an astoundingly short thirty seconds. The piercing roar of a forgotten beast echoed through the empty halls; the rendezvous point was a meadow in the forest nearby. They had told her she would know when she saw it, the clambering of the people in the cells, as they watched me sprint past them; some begged to be set free, some wanted me to kill them, but most just watched me with dead, hollow eyes. I didn't pay attention to the forsaken in these cells. As I rounded a corner, I heard the barking of a bloodhound and picked up the speed. I tore through the prison and realized that I could do something to slow down the [Guards]; I activated a ritual, "Oh great Gods, spirits, and mighty dragons, I, a humble servant, ask for your help, free the prisoners in this city, shatter these bonds, let me escape this place!" [Ritual complete, Ultimate Anti-Magic Circle]. I stumbled as my mana emptied and my health dropped.

All around me, chains broke as prisoners shouted in surprise, as the bonds that held them shattered, and the cell doors sprung open. The alarm stopped, and I became a face in the tsunami of prisoners. I risked activating one of my skills, [Weak Teleport], which I hadn't used during the [Necromancer] attack as it only sent me about 300 hundred feet in a spherical radius. I hadn't used it earlier since there were spell tags in the prison wall, tiny minute magical constructs that would have noticed me; now that the Ultimate Anti-Magic Circle had been forced on the prison, I could safely use this skill. In the blink of an eye, I vanished, appearing in a small shop outside the prison. No one was there, so I walked out. For the second time that day, the city alarm was sounded, this time to indicate a prison break. I ran among the crowd. I kept running until I reached the city gates. No [Guards] were on duty; many had been sent to rebuild the city, and the others had most likely been sent to deal with the prison break. The forest was teaming with so much undead after the attack that it had been elevated from a C-rank zone to a B-rank one. With the undead in the forest, they would begin to spawn naturally, hampering reclamation efforts. Right as I stepped in, I was jumped by a [Necrotic Sylph]. The wind bolt nearly hit me, but I dodged and dispatched it with two quick strikes. I quickly ran from the scene and randomly chose a direction not the city. The earth rumbled suddenly, and I promptly picked up my pace.

Protocol Activated, Construct created, objective destroy the nascent God.

019-4 awoke for the first time in thousands of years, and the objective was the same. It was always the same: destroy the nascent God. Millennia ago, the System had declared that no god could walk the earth again. The skill [Latent Divinity] had been turned into a black skill, which was a skill that none could obtain naturally. Yet some had these black skills, flaunting these forbidden powers. Skills that belonged to other classes or skills sealed by the System, but 019-4 would only awake if a demi-god ever walked the earth again. The mountain that had contained split. He sundered it in two, the animal ran, and 019-4 walked again. They scanned the earth for signs of the anomaly but couldn't find it. His job wouldn't be easy, but he would slay this anomaly and free the world of Altheas from the demi-god. He would scour the sea, the land, and the sky. But the construct paid little mind to a nagging feeling, a little voice that told him to turn back. The System had awakened him, and there would be no mercy.

I awoke in a dark, formless void; it was odd since I was the only living person there. I wasn't the only thing, though. There were potions, food, and weapons floating around in the dark. One item caught my attention: a light in the endless void, a sword. From what I could tell, it was maybe thirty feet away, just at the edges of my vision. I activated [Death Tendrils] and then sent them towards the light. When they touched it, I commanded them to bring it back, and swiftly, they returned. I grabbed it and used [Truesight] and was greeted with yet more text. This is getting annoying, I thought as I read the description. [+3 Growing Everburn Blade, B-rank, owner, Lival, abilities, [Everburning], this blade deals moderate fire damage, [Unbreakable], this blade cannot be broken, [Growing], this blade grows in rank with the wielder, [Fear Aura], when from its sheath releases an aura of fear that affects all surround beings, scales with rank, [Ghost-Flame], all debuffs affecting target and user are converted into an extra 10% per debuff, [Blood-Bonded] automatically bonds with the wielder, NOTE: Will not bond with incompatible classes, [Mana-Flame], channel mana into the flame to increase burn damage, [Cold Iron], wounds are 75% harder to heal, +3 bonus, [First Blood] if wielder gains first blood in a fight, the damage is increased by 50%, +30 boost to dexterity and strength] Why this with me along with all the other items was beyond me, though I suspected it was some kind of interdimensional storage space, probably Celeste, the [Arcane Scout], her primary weapons from what I saw of her before I was knocked out were daggers and the fact it said my name as the owner meant that her class was most likely incompatible with her class, the fact it was this bright even when sheathed meant that from afar she would be noticed, the +3 in the name was confusing but I assumed it made the sword stronger by giving it stronger ablilties, the +30 bonus to strength and dexterity was elcome, and the ablities complimented my skills, it also meant that I wouldn't need to use my fists anymore. As I thought that, I realized that my [Aural Fist] and [Aural Armor] worked by enhancing my body with my aura, and some force surrounding me only solidified it. Maybe I could try to do the same to my new sword. I activated [Aural Fist], but I forcefully redirected it to my sword instead of letting my aura solidify at my hand. Pain shot me as something fought back against my will. I held on, and for a brief few seconds, a yellow aura flickered around the blade. It vanished a few seconds later. I tried to hold on to the skill, but it was getting harder. The pain tore through the balm that [Steel Mind] provided. finally, after what seemed like centuries of pure agony, the aura finally reappeared. It was golden yellow with tinges of scarlet at the edges. For my efforts, I was rewarded with I was rewarded a new skill, [Aural Weapon], [Project your aura around a weapon, or create a temporary copy]. It was what I was after, and the part about creating weapons intrigued me. I continued to contemplate everything that had happened recently when suddenly light returned to my surroundings, and I was in a clearing at nighttime, inside of a cage; a man's voice cut through the darkness with ominous words, "Hello there, you're finally awake, I have questions for you."
