A drastic change in the culture of Fort Pants was ushered in with the installment of the present mayor, Lunchbox Shaw. After an unknown assailant keyed Mayor Shaw’s car twelve years ago, he began to develop crippling paranoia and fear of the outside world. But not being one to fall to prey to superstition, Shaw reacted by taking a tougher stance on crime. First, he commissioned the construction of a dungeon, to be built underneath the original hall of Bjorn Pants (now renamed Shaw Cathedral). “Welcome to Fort Pants Dungeon”, read the sign outside its gates, “Confess Now- Die Today!” It’s entrance and the courtyard of Shaw Cathedral lies decorated with the burnt and impaled corpses of any unlucky prisoner.
The Inquisitorial Order was the second act of Shaw’s new approach to crime, initially established to capture the perpetrators behind the car keying incident. After Mayor Shaw reasoned that the act was the work of witches, they’d had their work cut out for them. However, after over a decade of exemplary work, the inquisitors boast a near perfect success rate. Six hundred and seventy-four suspects have already confessed to witchcraft and the keying of Shaw’s car, and the rest died before they had the chance. However, scientists agree that the latter was also guilty. Due to their remarkable success and efficiency in the witch-hunts, the Inquisitorial Order soon found themselves established as the primary law-enforcement agency in town.

God-Emperor Lunchbox Shaw is technically the commander-in-chief of the Inquisitorial order, but it’s well known that he’s a figurehead. The person actually in charge is Confessor Agnes Killy. Agnes started her career as a known and respected serial killer in the community. Her techniques were both silent and brutal, which lead to her being a top candidate for the prestigious position of Confessor. The Confessor coordinates and performs all the interviews with suspected heretics, and is responsible for their confessions. Killy was with the order from the start, and is credited with their raging success in heretic identification and capture. During her one hundred and eleventh birthday, Agnes was asked the key contributor to her longevity and success. She responded, “Friends, God, community, and work that I love.”
