Chapter 24: Guests are Welcome

Chapter 24: Guests are Welcome

The company rides in a van towards Samantha’s home. The guests seem to be happy about it since there’s a basketball court in it. Their driver, Robert, seems happy to be having them.

Robert says to Samantha, “Sam, why did your school suspend the classes for today?”

She says, “Oh, it’s kinda sad because our teacher committed suicide.”

“What?! Really?! Why?”

“It’s because he’s getting fired this schoolyear.”

“Dang, that’s really a bad judgment on his part. His family would be affected by this. He did not take his pain away but transferred it to those close to him. This is the lesson kids, ‘Don’t make rash decisions but seek help from people or even God.’”

Then silence falls in the van as if everyone is afraid to speak following the advice. As the silence fills the room, they later arrive at Samantha’s house. When the van enters the garage, they go out of the van and make themselves comfortable in the house.

Justin and Mark are wide-eyed and their jaws drop through the core of the earth. Cesar raises his brow and mouths, “Wow.”

Justin crosses his arms together and says, “It sure is chilly in here.”

Samantha turns to him and says, “We have aircons that fills the whole house with air, no corner is never conquered by its air dominance.”

Samantha gives them a tour of the house. But before they could, they had to stop at the living room so that they would not have to carry their bags throughout the tour. When they are in the living room, Justin and Mark’s eyes pop out and their jaws drop through the other side of the world.

“Dang!” says Justin who then covers his mouth. “I’m sorry, I’m sometimes impulsive.”

“You don’t say,” says Mark.

Cesar just giggles at him and says, “It’s ok, Justin. It’s not that often that you see this grand of a house. Just take it all in and relish it all.”

Justin retorts, “I mean look at the big windows and curtains. And look at them couches, they’re like beds enough for a million people to sleep on them.”

Samantha smiles at them and says, “You’re the only people I’ve shown my house yet, so be welcome as my guests.”

Cesar says to her, “Sure, Sam. Please, tour us in your house.”

As they are all in the living room, Robert stands in the distance observing them.

The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.

They then finally took a tour of the house. They went to the basketball court with a pingpong table on the side. They went upstairs in the kitchen greeting the maids who are in there. Upstairs they went and they were met by Manny.

Samantha introduces him to her classmates saying, “Um, this is my little brother, Manny,” and then she looks at him and says, “Say hi to them.”

Manny raises his hand and waves at them saying, “Hi, my sister’s classmates. Nice to meet you all. My name is Manny and I am 8 years old.”

Cesar stoops down to him and says, “Hi, nice to meet you, Manny. My name is Cesar,” as he offers him a handshake.

Manny obliges and shakes Cesar’s hand. Ruth squats over her heels and greets him.

“Hi, Manny. Did you know that you are so cute?”

“Hehe, I get that a lot miss. I have that effect on women.”

Ruth laughs and messes his hair.

“Silly goose.”

Manny just giggles.

Ruth stands up as Justin and Mark introduce themselves to him.

“Hi, Manny. Nice to meet you,” says Justin. “It must be nice to have this awesome house.”

“You really have a big house Manny,” says Mark. “What do you typically do here?”

Manny smugly smiles and puffs his chest, “I got this from the great three-point shooter Alfred ‘the Sniper’ Macapobre, of course. But it’s usually boring here, there’s not much you could do except we would play table tennis on the weekends with my big sister, Robert, and Yaya.”

“Why are you bored?” Justin says. “Don’t you have a basketball court and even a pingpong table to play with your sister and others? And don’t you have video games here or even TV?”

“I have all those things and even have fun with those things, but it gets old in the long run. I have fun but it’s usually boring.”

Cesar straightens himself up and says, “That must be because you’re alone, right?”

“I don’t know. Maybe.”

Cesar turns to his classmates and says, “Guys, would y’all be okay if we could let Manny play basketball and table tennis with us? And we could even play some video games or watch movies with him for a while, is that fine with you.”

Justin nods his head energetically saying, “We would love to, and I want to play a video game or even watch a movie.”

The others also agree with his proposition.

“I’m not gonna play with you, guys. I’m gonna watch a movie. You can stop by if you want to.

“Oh, that’s okay, Manny. We’re gonna stop by after our practice. Cesar places his hands on Mark and Justin’s shoulders and says, “Let’s go to the basketball court, and let’s practice basketball.” He removes his hands from their shoulders and looks at Ruth and Samantha, “You girls can join us too or you can play ping-pong.”

Ruth shakes his head and says, “I don’t want to play basketball, but I want to play ping-pong.”

Samantha says to her, “That would be great bestie.”

They then went to the basketball court with a ping-pong table on the side. As they were going there, they passed by Robert idling. Cesar noticed him and smiled at him.

“Wouldn’t you mind playing basketball with us, sir?”

“Call me, Robert. And I don’t play basketball, I don’t know how to.”

“Oh, don’t worry. I could teach you how to play basketball.”

“I’m gonna be busy, so I’m gonna watch you play for a while.”

All of them proceeded to the basketball court. As they arrived at the court, Roger instructed the boys to pick up mops and sweep the court.

Ruth and Samantha went over to the ping-pong table. And Ruth was shocked to see that the ping-pong table was clean.

“Bes, the ping-pong table is clean. Do you play with your brother here often?”

Justin overhears this a distance away and says, “Manny already told us earlier tha-“ With Mark by his side, he gets hit by an elbow. “Owww.”

“Sorry, Ruth. Have fun playing ping-pong.” Mark says.

Ruth giggles and says, “Thank you, Mark.”

“You’re welcome.”

“You sure like him, bes, by the looks of it,” Samantha says as she chuckles.

“Yeah, but don’t tell him, please,” Ruth says.

“Sure thing.”
