Chapter 2

That day after that girl fell into the arms of a particular person detached from the usual ongoing of this school. This person remembered her face and bits of her name but not their own name or what they looked like.

This person carried a rabbit doll dressed like an aristocrat with a top hat stitched to it too. There was no recollection of this doll or where it came from but one day it asked, "Do you remember who you are?"

A weird question especially the way it was phrased but completely in line since this person didn't. Do you remember who you are..?

Such a strange question, to ask someone, like asking someone if they were a boy or girl. This time the story was of a young girl.

The young girl still thought about it a lot, however. Holding the rabbit doll and staring at it for minutes on end while standing outside the school's gates, the path in an alley cramped closely nearby other buildings. It was better to take the back entrance but for some that wasn't an option if they wanted to arrive on time. The school named Nokken Academy was a school where only the best go. An academy unparalleled in education; Math, Japanese, history, and their clubs like archery and animal studies. Though being the best didn't mean the school was good morally. Students here were rude and egotistical because of their talents or being born a part of some rich bloodline. Sons and daughters of rich men or famous people.

The young girl didn't know how she got in, being an amnesiac from the day she woke up in a hospital bed. The details were blurry and buried beneath some kind of obstruction in her mind. She entered the school going to her classroom 2-B, and after school she attended her club meeting which ended just as quickly. She just followed the motions, never thinking to herself why.

"Bye bye." and "See ya."

Her clubmates bid their farewells to each other but never her. It was a mystery how she managed to get accepted. Being the last in the room she was left in a calm peace, staring at the doll sitting on the table like everyday but unexpectedly occurred once she turned to pack her bag. The doll she had on her desk spoke again in vague terms, "The door has opened."

The voice was dry like an old woman's and startled the young girl who almost forgot the doll could speak. What did 'the door has opened' mean..? She eyed the doll awaiting for an answer, staring into its button eyes.

"BLEGH!!" Screamed the doll, causing the young girl to stumble backwards into a desk nearly pushing it over. Following the shock and surprise was a creepy ghostly laughter from the doll "Eeheehee! Now that's the kind of reaction I wanted. Seems like you finally came back to your senses."

"What do you mean by that?" She tapped her chin completely ignoring the fact the stuffed doll was speaking to her.

"Prior to now you were a vegetable. Brainless and full of crappy opinions. It took awhile for pieces of yourself to resurface but now you seem like you're back to your senses." The doll answered.

"What..."

"Your name! Do you remember your name!"

"I don't remember it at all! All I know is people call me Luka. Is that it?"

The doll sighed, somehow through the 'x' stitching over its mouth. "That's one part of it. Listen closely, your name is Luluria Wagami. Say it with me."

She nodded rapidly saying her name out loud with the doll, Luluria Wagami, or Luka for short. She was young and troublesome as the doll described. Her skin was pale and face painted with light freckles, but her bright yellow eyes stood out the most. Creepy eyes some students considered and many opted to avoid confrontation, and others tried to pick and annoy her, but since she was in a vegetative state they barely got any reactions out of her and used her to do their busy work. She was a human tool but all that was to change now.

The doll continued its explanation, "The door to the world inverse has opened. Someone triggered a key that weakened the rift between our world and it."

"I don't know what any of that means, Cynthia." The doll's name instinctively came to Luka's mind. "And how am I supposed to know I'm not dreaming all of this right now?"

"Dreaming or not, you're conscious now. Your little mommy left me in charge of you until you were capable of taking care of yourself." Said Cynthia with all the sarcasm but none of which Luka picked up on. The doll hopped into her school bag and pointed forward with her little doll hand. "Now go! The door to the world inverse was opened in the Sunflower library."

"I better get a good explanation for everything you're saying..." Luka followed the doll's demands and hurried out of the school. She often got lost out on the streets of Shibuya taking wrong turns and finding dead ends rather than the library. Cynthia had to direct her the whole way to their destination so she wouldn't accidentally stumble into the wrong building, and once she entered she felt an uneasy feeling in her chest causing her to stop for a moment at the entrance. To describe this feeling, it was like adrenaline welling up yet not reaching its peak. The hairs on her neck stood up and a chill fell down her spine; Cynthia said that this feeling could only be felt by individuals well versed in magic. Continuing on, Luka went to the back of the library where the feeling of magic was at an all time high.

The author's narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

She noticed the signs on the door and before she could say something regarding it, Cynthia told her to quickly hide behind the bookcase and she moved quickly crouching down behind the shelf. "Am I hiding from someone?"

Cynthia jumped out of her bag and walked towards the doors "We can't let others see us transfer to the other world. To them it'll look like we're vanishing out of thin air and that'll bring a whole host of problems no one wants to deal with." She then raised her small arms and a bright glow emitted from the tip. "This might feel a bit weird."

And it did. Her vision blurred and the world twisted unnaturally yet it didn't hurt, She could feel her body being twisted with the ripples tearing through space and time. Luka couldn't put the feeling of her being pulled and squeezed into words. Soon her blurry vision subsided and she along with her Cynthia stood in a similar looking area except the world they inhabited now was ruined with forest overgrowth. Nothing but leaves and trees surrounded them and even though it didn't look particularly off putting, Luka couldn't shake the feeling of dread looming over her very being. Feeling as if death was right behind her breathing on her neck, she was too afraid to even move and she didn't know why.

Noticing her fright, Cynthia hopped up trying to get the girl's attention. "Oi listen! You can't give into your fears here or else the dragons will smell ya. They feed on fear and human despair."

"D-dragons?!" Luka shrieked. The world used to be plagued by dragons that brought ruin and it took a million heroes to stop it, she remembered from the history books she was given to read. The details were hazy but dragons signaled the sign of end times. The end of humanity and the world as a whole. For now they remained in this realm underneath the real world but the prophecy was still the same.

The ground rumbled and a loud roar erupted from nearby. Both knew what that entailed and Luka was starting to regret coming back to her senses. She even pinched her skin to see if this was all a dream but nope this was as real as it could've been.

She looked down and saw Cynthia dragging a longsword closer. She never explained where the weapon came from, only telling Luka to use it to fight the dragon that was nearby. Picking it up caused more visions to flash in her mind, memories of multiple battles a girl with black hair had, and beside her was a boy dressed like a cowboy and another wearing a brown trenchcoat. Their faces were too distorted to make out but that didn't seem like the focus of this memory that returned. She swung the blade, getting used to its weight and felt a little more confident in the situation she was thrusted in then hurried in the direction of the roar and emerged on the other side of the thick bushes.

When she caught sight of the tall hulking beast she stumbled and fell on her face, dropping her sword but she didn't care. Having completely changed her mind about fighting when she saw the tall dragon before her, well it was more of a dinosaur but deciding what it was specifically was a waste of time. This dragon's horn was a blade of bone sticking out like a sore thumb on its forehead, and its eyes were a mindless yellow looking directly at something else rather than her thankfully.

"What did I tell you about getting scared, idiot!" Cynthia rightfully scolded her after she proved to be clumsy before even engaging in combat. She sighed, having no right to complain after pushing Luka into this. Any normal person would lose their marbles after seeing a real dragon alive and well and having to fight it. "Hm..? So it's two offenders that caused this and... isn't that your student council president?"

It was but Luka didn't have any courage to speak any further feeling just as scared, lost and confused as the council president was. She then looked at the boy who grabbed her dropped sword attempting to fight the beast himself. Cynthia shouted for him to stop but he was too lost in fear to hear. He struck the dragon's leg though his attack did no damage, and in an instant the dragon raised its tail and slammed it down on his body causing blood to fly. She didn't look away from his writhing body as his arms moved to pat the ground randomly, trying to parse what happened and how it happened so quickly. He didn't get enough time to come back to terms with reality as the dragon slammed its tail down on him again, this time completely flattening his body in a pulpy mess of skewed bone and flesh. The reason Luka couldn't look away was because it snapped something in her mind, an awakening of a need to fight and kill.

"There you have it. If you don't wanna end up a scrambled egg like that boy over there then you're gonna have to fight with all you got. Trust in your own power or something like that." Cynthia then shouted to the council president, "Hey over there!! I know you have some secret power you've been hiding. If you wanna survive then this is the place to throw caution to the wind!"

"I..." She trailed off and saw Luka charge towards the dragon to hit it with a flying kick. Of course it didn't do anything but the fact she even tried ignited a bit of courage in the council president, lifting the despair and allowing her to stand back on her feet. If what the doll said was true then here she was free to use her power--a blazing magic she was born with and something she thought she was cursed with believing it to be the sole reason others hated her so immensely. She watched Luka take back her longsword and jump up with the sword raised. She slammed it down but the dragon used its axehead to deflect the strike sending sparks flying in all directions and the recoil causing Luka to land on her back near the council president.

"Y-you're..." she was at a loss of words, stammering about. " I-Is this what you've been hiding from everyone?"

Luka sat up and winced, holding her right shoulder after the recoil made it feel like it shifted out of place. "I'm just as lost as you are but Cynthia seems to think we have a destiny."

Once more Cynthia shouted to them both, "You're going to have to combine your powers to win. Y'know the power of friendship and shit. So kiss and makeup and become friends or else you'll die."

"Your name is... Pro Shijunko right? I'm Luluria Wagami or Luka for short." Luka said.

"Lu...lu…ri...a..." Pro struggled at first with the pronunciation then said it a few more times until it rolled off the tongue naturally. After getting that out of the way she raised her hand and in her palm a small flame ignited then expanded into a fireball engulfing her whole hand. In her hand was the power to enact her own future. Luka stood up with her sword ready and together the two would charge into battle with everything they had to win the battle with one powerful attack.

The specifics were a blur afterwards...
