Chapter 1
It was a normal day on the farm for the boy who is to be known as the Heroic Necromancer, playing around with his friends Lance and Anna. Lance named for the famous hero who lead the paladin order against the Lich Emperor, Yongye, while Anna is well…
“Take that! Mud pie to the face, Boo yeah!” a tomboy to say least, and as for the future lord of darkness well he “Ow Anna that had a rock in it.” is a bit of a cry-baby.
“Man up Farm boy or you’ll never get strong!” Said Anna proudly.
Now for one of the best parts onto appearances! We’ll start with the oldest of the trio: Anna is a growing young woman at the age of 23 and is considered a rare beauty by travellers and villagers alike with fiery red hair, and very nice curves. She is simply put, stunning, at least to the scion of darkness. Lance is brunette with a tall lanky frame and all muscle, trained since birth (or at least since he found out the origin of his name) to be a sword master, aspiring to live up to the honour of having a hero’s name. P.s He’s 22 and Anna’s brother. Finally the dark lord is a 20 year old dirty blonde, slightly pudgy (he still has some baby fat) medium build country bumpkin with distinctive black lines in his iris that denote his magical affinity (its darkness in case you’re wondering).
“Go easy on him Anna, you know he isn’t as fast as you.” admonished Lance
“Easy for you to say, you can at least dodge my Ultimate Pie of Mud attack.” replied Anna, while gathering mud to make another one.
“Since when was throwing a mud pie an ultimate attack.”
“Since NOW!” Said Anna as she threw the newly made mud pie into Lances face. With a quick reaction Lance moved his head and upper body slightly to the side to dodge the attack but in doing so took his eyes of Anna. Quick as a snake she sprinted the few steps in between them and dumped an armful of mud over Lance, covering his head and part of his chest.
When the man who will give birth to armies of undead saw that, he laughed so hard he started to run out of breath.
“Not cool Anna, do you know how long it is going to take to clean my clothes?” Complained Lance.
“About as long as you are going to spend on some fancy new hairdo” Replied Anna smirking.
“Hey, the Heroes of legend always have some sort of heaven defying hair, mine just doesn’t want to stay in place yet” Retorted Lance with fake indignation.
“Sure, Sure whatever you say Hero wannabe.” Said Anna while trying to hold back a laugh.
“Hey you guys better leave soon before it gets dark, I’ve heard some nasty rumours about villagers disappearing lately and I don’t want to go the harvest festival on my own next week.” The (future) grand mage of the undead said.
“humph” Snorted Lance “as if Anna would let you go to that alone, she’s afraid Margret would take you away.”
“LANCE!” Shouted Anna embarrassed.
“That’s what you get for ruining my clothes” teased Lance as he finished wiping the mud off of himself. Again taking his eyes off her to wipe some mud that landed on his pants. All Lance felt was a thump on his back then he was eating mud like a pig.
“Humph, that’s what you get for teasing me” Said Anna as she crossed her arms and looked away.
The Scion of Death helped his friend up then sent them both on their way while chuckling to himself.
However he didn’t make it halfway to his house before he heard a scream. Realising it was Anna he turned around and bolted in the direction they went. While he kept mumbling to himself “please be alright, please be alright” he heard Lance shout “YOU BASTARD! HOW DARE YOU!” it was then that he came upon the scene.
Lance was bleeding from his left shoulder which looked like it was broken it multiple places and holding a tree branch in his right, jabbing futilely at a man (?) in a brown robe. Anna was lying on the ground bleeding out from an earthen spike in her gut. Just as the Heroic reinforcement rushed forward the man (?) sidestepped a jab and uppercut Lance knocking him out cold. Blinded by rage at seeing the state his friends were in Darkness Incarnate began grappling with the man (?) trying to force him to the ground. The man (?) proved to be too strong however, and threw him back a few metres where he landed on the ground with a thud.

When he looked up the man (?) had already finished chanting for another earth spike and went to throw it at him before he got up. The man (?) never got the chance as a gleaming sword pierced him from behind and the last thing the (future) undead master saw was a shining white head before he passed out.
He awoke to voices shouting and arguing a few metres away.
“What do you mean she can’t go back to the village?!” Cried Lance
“Exactly as I said young one.” Spoke an old wise Voice “She has already turned into a monster and its best if she comes with me to learn to control her appetite.”
“YOU’RE THE BASTARD WHO TURNED HER INTO ONE NOW CHANGE HER BACK!”
It was at this point that the soon to be necromancer sat up and looked around.
“Don’t move so quickly, young one, you hit your head pretty hard when you hit the ground” Said the kindly voice as it approached him.
“HEY, DON’T IGNORE ME!” Shouted Lance
He heard a clacking sound as he looked in the direction of the voices and saw an old man covered in black robes, a shining white skeleton blocking Lance from moving forward and finally the most beautiful sight he could see Anna, alive and well. As Lance and the old man continued arguing, he just stared at Anna taking in the sight of the girl he loves. With her legs and arms without blemish, no giant hole in her stomach and blood covered lips with a feral look in her eyes as she stared at him. He felt happy until she rushed him and bit his arm.
His scream stopped the two arguing as they looked in his direction and then quickly acted to get Anna off him.
During the brief tussle Anna was pierced by the skeleton and her blood flowed into his mouth before he could even question why it stabbed her.
With a chunk of his arm in her mouth and chewing happily, the (future) undead lord decided it was time to get some answers.
“What the hell just happened? He asked
“Allow me to explain.” Said the old man “I came across your battle with that rogue earth mage just as I was on my way home with my newest acquisition” at this point he gestures to the skeleton “and decided to help. Well, all I did was order Francis here to stab the mage then I checked on the conditions of you three and used lesser aqua healing to fix what wounds I could. However the girl was too far gone and not wanting to pass up my chance to test my newly advanced spell I sort of used it to bring her back to life” he said sheepishly “now she is a high ghoul one tier below a ghoul lord”
“Yeah thanks for the help old man” Lance said sarcastically “now turn her back so we can be on our way”
“It’s not that simple Lance.” Soon to be Undead Summoner cut in before the old man could speak “According to the information my parents have, a ghoul can only rank up into a human if they so choose but they need to be at least a ghoul lord before they’re able too.”
“So what I’m supposed to accept the fact that she’s a flesh eating monstrosity now?!” Replied Lance angrily.
“Yes.” Both the old man and deaths favourite son said together.
After listening to his friend whose parents were both S class adventures and knowing what he said to be true, Lance began to breakdown. “I’d rather it, if she died then!” Lance cried as tears began streaming down his face. He picked up the branch he was using before while sobbing to himself and began to approach his sister.
“You’re not even going to hurt her, boy.” Sighed the old man “she is a B class creature minimum and you need to at least have a second or third tier class before you can” He then turned to face the Hero of the dea (future) to make sure he was still alright.
Lance ignoring the old man’s words continued to approach his sister. Her eyes snapped open to stare at him as she slowly stopped chewing. Faced with his dead sisters’ stare Lance raised his arm to strike…….
But couldn’t bring himself too. Crying he dropped the branch and hugged her surprising the old man who shouted out “Wait!” but she did nothing not even glance at him and closed her eyes savouring the taste of the flesh once again.
“That’s surprising” the old man muttered “normally, freshly made ghouls can’t control their hunger and attack any living thing in range”
“That’s because she’s now my familiar” said a young voice to his side “it happened a little while after you finished healing my arm”
The old man stared, shocked at his future apprentice “But that’s impossible to make a high ghoul your familiar you would need a high Darkness affinity and 10000 mana minimum even I only have a little under 9000.” he screeched with his voice going higher in pitch as he continued talking
“Names Ben want to teach me about necromancy?” Asked the now finally named Main Character
“Uh, Uh.. Uh… Uh” the old man stuttered. However after looking into the boys eyes and seeing the black flecks within he realised this boy could by an even more powerful necromancer than himself!
Lance of course chose this moment to interrupt “why would you want to learn a nasty thing like necromancy?”
“Because it is the only Class which goes with my affinity that does not involve implicitly hurting people.” replied Nero.
Lanced sighed then said “If you go down this path then I’ll train to become a dark paladin, to take care of you and Anna of course” hugging her tighter when he said her name.
“Your affinity is lesser light, hurry up and become a paladin so my undead can beat you down” laughed Nero
“As if I’d lose to a bunch of bones.” Laughed Lance as he got up from hugging his sister.
The old man said nothing during this exchange because he could see the pain behind the boy’s smiles and the hurt they were hiding.
“Oh and Nero if you can’t turn her human, I will find her and end her myself.” Lance left behind as he walked away toward his home.
“So old man” Ben/Nero asked “where are we going?”
