The intelligence of Goblins is actually not low among low-level monsters. They possess the passive skill of comprehending human speech, and they have developed their own language system.
Even mere animals can sense danger and subsequently flee, so it's no surprise that goblins, with their intelligence, can make decisions to retreat when necessary.
Although only three goblins were dead, the remaining ones had already lost their will to fight. Watching Anyi kill their comrades with a calm demeanor, as if he were toying with them, sapped their courage.
"Co cat cach cay cat!! Ta de dat!" Suddenly, one of the goblins let out a loud call. The goblin raised the wooden club in his hand and hurled it in Anyi's direction.
Anyi instantly formulated a plan. He grabbed Annie and dashed for a nearby crevice. A split second later, several wooden sticks and fist-sized rocks crashed down where they had just stood. If they had moved even a moment slower, the rocks would have crushed them.
"Da —– !!" The goblins shouted as they charged towards the humans. 'The humans are fleeing, that's great news for us! Our stealth attack must have been effective!'
While the goblins no longer dared to approach Anyi directly, they didn't hesitate to use projectiles. Even a large rock thrown with enough force could cause significant harm to a human. Although it might be challenging to incapacitate or kill them outright, injuring them could hinder their movements. A well-placed hit to a vital area like the head could even render them unable to fight back.
"Go! Surround them again! Attack aggressively!"
"Anyi! The village isn’t in this direction!" Annie screamed while frantically running.
"I know, but do we have any other choice?" Anyi replied in a stern tone, gripping Annie's hand tightly to ensure she could keep up. If he ran too fast, she might fall.
"Mmm..." Annie glanced back at the goblins chasing after them. "Well, none!"
"Listen, Sis. Goblins are native to this jungle. This is their home turf. Even if we try to flee, they will catch up to us eventually," Anyi explained, his tone calm but firm.
"So what should we do?!" Annie asked, a hint of panic in her voice as she turned to Anyi.
"Eliminate all of them," Anyi replied swiftly, his tone leaving no room for argument.
"Isn't it a bit rash to propose outright slaughter?!" Annie was clearly taken aback by Anyi's quick response. She noticed the goblins approaching them at an alarming pace.
Annie noticed that some goblins were using projectiles as a means of attack. Anyi didn't have any long-range attack methods, and his humble leather armor offered little protection. With so many rocks being thrown, he might not be able to evade them all.
The sun was about to set, and Annie realized that if they strayed too far from the return path, they might not have the chance to find their way back to the village.
"Arrive," Anyi's voice interrupted her thoughts.

"What do you mean by 'arrive'?"
"Sis, hand over the potion, now," Anyi said, his voice flat and calm.
"Potion? Hold on! Potion, potion, potion... Here!" Annie answered in a panicked rush, handing three small potions to Anyi.
Anyi uncorked one of the bottles and poured its contents directly onto Annie's head, prompting her to cry out in surprise, "Ahhhh!"
Next, he uncorked the second potion, carefully held the mouth of the bottle with his index finger, and scattered the liquid on the ground behind him. He then poured a few drops on the left and right sides. The contents of the potion quickly evaporated into water vapor, swiftly spreading through the air in all directions.
Not long after, a single member of the goblin pack halted abruptly. Soon, two, three, and four more goblins followed suit.
"Ngo—— Ngo—— Ugh"
"Gurrgle gurgle gurgle!"
"Gurgle gurgle gurgle gurgle!"
All of the goblins suddenly stopped, pressing their mouths and noses. They began to vomit, their tiny hands unable to properly conceal their large noses and mouths. Tears, nasal discharge, saliva, and vomit sprayed everywhere.
"What is this smell?!"
"Rotten!"
"Too stinky!!"
From the goblins' perspective, the area in front of them had transformed into a massive cesspit of putrefaction. As soon as one approached, they couldn't help but vomit due to the foul stench.
Their once keen sense of smell, which they had used to track prey, was now utterly overwhelmed, rendering them incapable of pursuing their targets. Just as they decided to give up and take a detour...
Rustling...
Within the forest, the sounds of creatures moving around echoed. One goblin suddenly picked up a rock and hurled it in the direction of the noise, but the rock missed its mark, hitting nothing but foliage.
"Ahem, act—act—act—cat—cat—cat." The goblins, now gathered from the surrounding area, started chatting among themselves. Soon, they grabbed weeds from the ground, formed them into balls, and used their fingernails to squeeze the juice from the plants before inserting the makeshift plugs into their nostrils.
On the other side, Annie hid in a dark place where she could observe the goblins from a distance. When she saw them cover their nostrils with grass, she covered her mouth in fright. This was undeniably... frightening. They were so clever that their actions filled her with dread.
'The dispelling potion exploits the monsters' ability to detect scents to drive them away. This should also work on goblins. But they still found a way to overcome it...' The realization caused Annie's heart to skip a beat.
Regardless of being surrounded, assaulted by projectiles, or now having their noses plugged up, Annie was in shock. The goblins' ability to improvise was too powerful!
'Is Anyi really not in danger?...?' Annie began to fret, her concern growing with each passing moment.
"Wait for me here. I'll kill them and come back."
That was what Anyi had said to her before leaving.
He didn't let her escape, didn't give her any countermeasures if she was discovered, and didn't even tell her what to do if he was injured or died.
Anyi simply advised her to stay put for a while. As if there were no other option but to vanquish the monsters. It was as if his capability was absolute, so he didn't need to consider any other course of action.
Annie watched as the goblins started moving again. They gradually spread apart, evidently planning to divide and take action. However, It seems that they have no intention of chasing in any direction. It was as if... they were searching for something.
Rustling...
At that moment, the goblins caught wind of a sound in the forest. Their keen hearing picked up the faint movements of a human nearby. Rather than immediately giving chase, they spread out methodically, using their acute senses to encircle their perceived target once again.
As they closed in, preparing to seal off all possible escape routes, a voice devoid of emotion suddenly pierced through the tense air. "Are you looking for me?" The words echoed through the trees, causing every goblin to startle and swiftly turn towards the source.
"Tak, tak—" In their line of sight stood a tall figure cloaked in shadows. Before them lay a goblin, its neck severed and blood gushing from the wound.
The goblins were dumbfounded. When had this human infiltrated their midst? They had detected the sound, but it hadn't come from where this figure now stood. How had he managed to evade their senses?
"Come and get me. Aren't you eager to chase your prey? Now, the game begin!" Anyi's voice rang out again, chillingly calm. With that, he melted back into the darkness and vanished.
