Chapter 4: Very Cool

Chapter 4: Very Cool

"It's simple," Anyi said confidently. "I'll eliminate all the monsters here. Only then can I ensure your safety." He spoke with an assurance that belied the dire circumstances surrounding them.

Annie: "???"

Simple?! Are you insane? Simple?! You don't understand the seriousness of the situation! This is no joke! These monsters are capable of killing multiple villagers! She knew Anyi tended to be quite arrogant, but this was not the time to lose control and act like a raving lunatic.

"Anyi! Listen to me carefully," Annie said urgently. "I will stay here, okay? You must run away from here and inform the elders. You told me they would play with their prey, which means they won't kill me straight away. It's important that you run back and call for help from the elders as soon as possible. I can hold out just for a little while longer, so hurry up! Hurry and go, Anyi..."

"No... There won't be enough time," Anyi abruptly interrupted Annie's last words and took a step forward to shield her from harm.

"Sister, allow me to remind you of what I have previously stated: there will be no one more talented than me in this world, right?" Anyi remarked confidently.

Annie was caught off guard by Anyi's sudden movement and began to sob inconsolably. With increasing intensity, she vocalized her frustration: "No... you must flee with all haste... Your life holds more value than mine. If we continue this reckless course of action, we will end up dying at the same spot! Moreover, if you don't return, no one will be made aware of the monsters that are on their way towards our village and intend to invade it!" She could hardly contain her emotions, her lips trembling as she fought not to break down and sob. She didn't even want to think about dying, but if she didn't make a sacrifice, Anyi would perish! In addition to that, the people in the village would lose their lives too!

"Even if I pushed you away and retreated to deliver the news, it wouldn't make any sense." Anyi shook his head and stepped forward to shield Annie. He knew all too well what was coming, having lived through this moment before.

"And why do you think I could outrun them? Why are you so sure they won't split up and come after us both?" Annie's eyes widened as she realized the flaw in her plan. Their situation was far more desperate than she wanted to admit.

"Sis, there's no need to worry anymore. I'll make sure you're safe. I'll destroy every single one of these creatures, and then we'll go home together." Anyi's voice was calm yet filled with unshakable resolve. This wasn't arrogance—it was a promise.

"Y hi hi hi hehe ——!!"

"Da ha ha ha ha ——!!"

The goblins' mocking laughter echoed through the forest, their hideous grins widening as they comprehended Anyi's words. These creatures understood human speech and took perverse pleasure in the fear and desperation of their victims. They enjoyed prolonging the suffering, savored the anxiety and terror before delivering the final, brutal blow. Their twisted joy was revolting.

Anyi's face twisted with disdain. He raised his hand and made a slicing motion across his throat, growling ominously in the goblin language, "Da da da he ––."

"Dat ah ah!!"

The goblins' laughter abruptly ceased, replaced by snarls of rage. Anyi's words had clearly struck a nerve. Enraged, the goblins charged, their eyes blazing with fury.

Annie: "???"

She was completely taken aback. She had no idea that Anyi's words were highly offensive in the goblin language. The goblins were furious. To them, Anyi and Annie were just victims, yet Anyi had the audacity to provoke them. They would show no mercy.

Annie screamed and swung the medicine basket at the approaching goblin, but the creature swiftly dodged her attack with incredible speed and agility. Its movements were far beyond those of an ordinary human.

"Have you ever considered how many goblins I've slain in the past?" Anyi muttered to himself amidst the chaos, his words barely audible over the clamor of the goblins.

Taking a decisive step forward, Anyi positioned himself directly in front of the nearest goblin. He poised to draw his sword, but in a split second, the goblin reacted. With lightning reflexes, it grabbed the wooden club in its hand and held it defensively before its body. The goblin anticipated Anyi's move and prepared to fend off his attack.

Instead of drawing his sword immediately, Anyi swiftly seized the goblin's wooden club and yanked it away in one fluid motion. The goblin attempted to evade, but Anyi's speed caught it off guard, leaving the club torn from its grasp.

Anyi seized the opportunity, swiftly drawing his sword with one hand while using his other to grab the goblin's wooden club. In a fluid motion, he twisted his body and sliced the goblin's exposed stomach.

"Ca ca ah ah ah!!" The goblin shrieked in agony, trying in vain to cover its leaking abdomen with its hands. Retreat was no longer an option; the goblin faced a grisly demise.

In the blink of an eye, Anyi then swung the stolen club, smashing it forcefully into another goblin's grotesque nose. Blood sprayed in all directions as the blow landed. At the same time, Anyi launched a swift kick, sending several goblins tumbling backward as they tried to regroup.

With the precision of a seasoned swordsman, Anyi thrust his sword outward, fatally piercing through one goblin's chest. In a graceful twist of his blade, he then slashed across another goblin's abdomen, causing it to split open, exposing its innards. The goblin, unable to fight back or flee, crumpled helplessly under Anyi's assault.

Annie stood bewildered, trying to make sense of the chaos around her. The goblins lay scattered on the ground, some writhing in agony from mortal wounds, others frozen in fear.

"Anyi... What happened?" Annie asked, her voice filled with disbelief and uncertainty.

"They're dead," Anyi replied curtly, his tone devoid of emotion.

"Huh?" Annie blinked, unable to fully grasp the situation unfolding before her.

"I killed them," Anyi clarified, his grip firm around Annie as he leaned slightly on her for support. With one hand, he held his sword aloft, its blade stained with goblin blood. With deliberate motions, he used the blade to draw a circle on the ground, using the crimson fluid as ink.

Annie struggled to comprehend what Anyi was claiming. The idea that a human could outmatch goblins in speed and reaction time seemed implausible to her.

"But how is that possible?" Annie questioned, her voice tinged with disbelief. "Goblins are known for their agility and quick reflexes. How can you—"

"Understand, human beings lack the speed and reflexes of goblins, just like me," Anyi interrupted calmly.

Annie's brow furrowed in confusion. "Are you saying you can anticipate their movements?"

"In a way," Anyi responded casually.

As he spoke, Anyi's words seemed directed towards the goblins, almost as if he wanted them to hear.

"Even quick reactions take time. You need a moment to respond, but for me, my body moves almost instinctively. It's like... muscle memory."

Muscle memory, the ability to react without conscious thought, gave Anyi a distinct advantage in combat situations. It meant his body could respond swiftly and effectively, without the cognitive delay that often hindered others.

Indeed, muscle memory.

Muscle memory of killing millions of goblins.

His body had etched the exact method of goblin slaughter into its very core.

No need for conscious thought or reaction.

Just—

Kill!

"Sis," Anyi's voice was icy.

"Don't even think about sacrificing yourself, okay?"

"Yes... Yes," Annie nodded slowly.

My brother... He's so cool!!!!!
