Tenumre stepped into a dark alleyway. It wasnt a long one, there was a wall like 20 steps away. And at the end rested 2 beasts. They had teeth sharp as knives (I think), claws and a fierce look. They were also kinda cute.

"Hey Ami, hey Terri"

The dogs barked joyfully and ran to Tenumre. Tenumre laughed and pet them. He took a piece of Seet meat. Seets are a type of animal that taste like crap to humans, but are like chicken to Dogs. They love them, they say dogs would kill for this piece of meat. There's a story about a man who was sent to assassinate someone. He covered the man in the smell of Seet and his dogs mauled him to death. Tenumre threw the piece of meat to the dogs. They bit and chewed. Tenumre watched as the dogs mauled the poor chunk of meat.

A piece of meat, they'd kill to eat.

"Well if it isn't little Oreuh" Said Mati. "Had a good day at school?"

Tenumre nodded, then realized she isn't looking at him so he answered "yes"

"well that's great, come take out the trash" Said Mati

"ok" Tenumre went to take out the trash

"wait let me add a bit more then you can take it out"

well then why did you tell me to take it out? "Ok ma"

Tenumre went back into his room, changed into his normal clothes, and began to work. Based on his calculations, dinner would be ready in approximately 46 minutes. Best to assume the worst, 30 minutes. He could finish his little bucket of pranks in 5 minutes and lay the traps in 15 minutes and come back in 5 minutes if he started immedia-

"Dinners ready, Tenu"

His calculations were wrong.

Tenumre ate his food, took out the trash and got to work. He was now 7 years old, Oreuh left his hometown at 10, he had 3 years to learn enough to be able to venture on his own. He will need to be able to set traps and use his intellect and wit. This will be a test run. Nothing serious, just a warmup.

It was midnight, the streets were empty except for 3 young boys, walking together.

"So, we are invited to your house then, Bondurant?" Said the first boy.

"It's Bolur, you weren't even close. We have been together for 4 years, how do you still not know my name?" Said Borul, annoyed.

"Whatever Boldur"

"Bolur!"

"Haur, You're coming too right?" Said the third boy.

"Yea I'm coming" said Haur

"well I'll be waiting for you, whore" said Bohulur

"shut up Borul"

"it's bolu-"

Their words were cut off as a pebble hit Haur. They looked behind. Tenumre stood there, the moonlight exposing his face clearly.

"Hey what's your problem boy?"

Tenumre spoke "Whore"

Haur looked at him. "So that's how it is" and suddenly he darted to Tenumre.

Tenumre started running like his life depended on it (it probably did)

"Hey wait for us who- haur!' Said brolur, as he and the third boy started running as well.

Tenumre ran into a dark alley.

"It's dark in there, we'll never find him" Said the third boy.

"It won't end so fast." Said whor- I mean Haur.

"Screw you author" Said Haur "i have eyes like a cat, come on we can still see a little, maybe we can trace his sound-"

The 2 boys were reluctant.

With a sigh, Haur said "I'll gift you 2 of my board games"

"Fine, whatever Let's just get this over with"

They entered the alley, and started walking.

"Smells so bad in here" Said the third boy

"It kind of smells like updog"

"What's updog?"

All of a sudden they heard a bark. Startled, they jumped backwards, then tripped on a bucket full of liquid.

"Ugh, what is this stuff?" They heard panting, but not human panting. It was a dog

"Oh, it's just the dogs. C'mere kitty kit-" his words got cut off as the dog mauled him.

Haurs blood spilled all over his friends. They screamed and ran backwards. It was a dead end. Another dog jumped the 2 boys as the first dog finished munching on Haur. Boleer barely managed to put his arms up before the dog attacked him. The third boy did a futile attempt at kicking the dog, which cost him a leg. Out of nowhere a spear went through the dogs mouth. The attacker kicked the other dog and ran the spear down it's throat.

The village gathered around the alley. Haur looked brutal, he was literally skinless. Boilur lost 1/3 of both his arms, and they had to saw through the bones that were stuck out. The third boys legs were crippled.

"I wash the Seet meat in that bucket. The dogs probably attacked them due to the smell." Said Tenumre

"I guess that's why you don't enter dark places without light. What were they thinking?" Said a villager.

"They were such lovely dogs too"

"If not for that boy, those 2 would've ended up like their friend"

Tenumre was thanked by the the 2 boys' family members. He was gifted and congratulated for saving them.

"Hey Tenumre" Tenumre turned around, it was the 2 boys he saved. "I just wanted to thank you. You had to kill your 2 dogs because of us, we know you loved them. I hope you can forgive us"

"it's ok, we are Relritans, your lives are more important to me than any dogs." Replied Tenumre

"well, thank you. You really came to the rescue like a hero" and with that, they left.

like a hero. Tenumre smiled

THE NEXT YEAR

Shortly after the mauling incident, the Kingdom of Malut and the Kingdom of Setor waged war. It was brutal. For them. Not for the Village of Relri. The village was located near the Kings Bridge, so soldiers rested there, merchant's sold there, and the village prospered. Until a year after the war.

The day began with the blow of a horn. Everybody (except the sleepyheads) went out to see what was going on. It was at the crack of dawn that they came. They were humans, or at least they looked like humans with wings. Large, silver white wings. It seemed like metal. They soared through the sky, and dived down headfirst into a bystander, crushing his skull. It was a slaughter. They killed men, women and children. Little bodies thrown around, filled with holes, it was a massacre. Finally, the soldiers managed to gather men and fight. They sent another soldier for reinforcements. The soldiers fought quite well, but not well enough. It was their first time encountering these... things, whatever they are.

One of the flying metal bird thingies caught a sniff of something. It came down and followed the smell. The smell brought him to a house. The door was open a crack, behind it was the eyes of a curious little boy. And when their eyes met, he yelped.

"TENU!" Tenumres father pulled the boy and closed the door. He ran to the basement. "Mati, he was spotted!"

Maticra looked horrified. "Is it coming?" And as if in answer to her question, the sound of door breaking was heard.

"TENU, HIDE, GO HIDE"

Tenumre ran behind the worktable, right before the basement door was broken into. Tenumres father took a sword, and went infront of his wife. The 2 tried their best to divert attention. The father fought bravely, he even managed to cut some deep wounds. Well, only one wound before his sword was broken by the metal wings. The monster impaled the man's chest with both its wings closed, then opened his wings, tearing the man in half. It walked up to Maticra, frozen in fear. It put one hand on her shoulder. It looked like a normal person, slightly good looking too. Well, he would, if he didn't open his mouth. Besides the fact that it smelled horrendous, they were unnaturally big, and so was his teeth. Sharp, large and thin. It sunk deep into Maticra, and devoured her.

Halfway through eating her intestines, the monster heard a noise behind him. It barely got to look behind before a spear went through its eyes, and went through the back of its head, splattering its brains everywhere, instantly killing it. It had a rough head tho, broke the tip of Tenumres spear. He frowned at his spear. He didn't expect them to be this rough. It's a good thing he thrust it in its eyes. He took a spear head from the shelves and attached it to the haft.

"Oreuh, filled with rage and sorrow, avenged his mother. And he decided he would learn how to combat and travel, and defeat the monsters to make up for the fact that he failed to save his mother"

and then he tied it for good measure.

This went perfectly! My mother died, I avenged her, it's just like the story!

satisfied with the spear, Tenumre made his way upstairs.

I don't think Oreuhs father died here. Come to think of it, I never heard about Oreuhs father. I guess my father was just unlucky. He just arrived yesterday too. Sucks to be him.

Tenumre made his way to the kitchen

After this I will learn how to use a sword and a bow and arrow, then I'll leave, earn money from adventures and get a better mentor. And I'll be the next Oreuh.

Tenumre took the boiling pot full of herbs and put out the fire

It's a good thing I got these herbs. They only attract beasts, so I wasn't sure if they would attract one of them. I guess this means they are beasts. I didn't expect only one to arrive either.

Tenumre took the spear and a spare, and he walked to the main door.

But what I will do after this isnt important right now‌. Oreuh saved his hometown and was renown as a hero there. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me. This town needs a savior, and I will save it.

he opened the door, and ran towards the screaming masses.
