Final battle I

The creature was looking curiously. Tenumre took out his bow but before he could shoot, Nixal grabbed him. "That's mine!" He said.

The creature glowed orange and started running to the opposite direction. Tenumre pushed Nixal and he fell and he started rolling downward as Tenumre ran after thenl creature. Nixal hit a tree causing him serious pain in his back. Had he rolled for a few more seconds, hitting a tree break his spine.

Was he trying to kill me?

He reached the top of the hill and ran a bit. The hill went downwards again on 3 sides. Forward, left, or right.

Right is always right…

Tenumre ran downwards but held back a back a bit, as it was pretty steep. He had ran forward as he saw an animal running down there. He tripped on a tree trunk but luckily there was a tree right in front of him. He climbed it as he found it easier to jump between branches rather than walk down. Normally he couldn't do this, but he leapt quite further due to how steep the hill was. He went for a couple more minutes until he spotted an antenna through the trees. He went towards it and saw something that shocked him.

It was a deer. The animal he saw running was a deer.

Nixal saw the spalous resting near a tree. He crouched down, snapping a twig with his knees in the process. The spalous perked its head up and saw him. It glowed s ferocious yellow.

Yellow? Why is it growing yellow? Is it happy? Why is it happy? Is it because I saved it from Tenumre?

The spalous walked towards Nixal and rubbed its head on his chest. Nixal turned away flustered. He started panting and his heart was beating faster. He looked back at the spalous, and rubbed his head on its chest back.

"Great job Nix, great job." Said Vernon, enthusiastically. "I'm already drooling,"

The Spalous glowed a bright red. "No, I like it." Said Nixal.

"What? What do you mean you like it? The whole point was to bring food!"

"No‌, you said to bring a Spalous. You didn't say to kill it. I brought you the spalous, I win."

"But it's just a spalous, we eat animals!"

"Not this animal."

"But-"

"Come on, Ver," jumped in Venenti, "It's fine. Aren't they just adorable!"

Vernon look distraught, "But we'll starve to death…"

At that moment Tenumre entered the camp, "I couldn't find the spalous, but I got this deer, it's close enough." He glanced at the spalous next to Nixal. "So it's a tie?"

"No it's not!" Said Nixal. "I got the spalous, you didn't!"

"There's your food, Ver." Said Venenti.

Vernon sighed, and grudgingly took the deer to the fire.

"For your next challenge, you're tasked with creating a trap." Said Vernon in between bites. "The one Venenti put up failed miserably. You'll have to create new ones, deeper into the forest."

"What fine meat," said Venenti, chewing on the deer meat.

"Tha spalous looks finer," said Vernon. The spalous glowed red.

"Don't start that again, Ver. Let it go!"

"Whatever, set up the traps tonight and check on them tomorrow night."

"But isn't it dangerous to go out at night?" Asked Nixal.

"What, scared of the boogeyman?" Said Tenumre

"What's a Makilar?"

Tenumre gave him a stunned look.

"He's not informed of these sort of stories," said Venenti.

"Well I'll inform him then." Said Tenumre. "So the Makilar was a big and dark and evil demon! He used to lure kids and turn them into winged monsters!"

"And how do you defeat the Makilar?" Asked Nixal.

"How am I supposed to know? He was defeated years ago by Oreuh."

"Who's Oreuh?"

Tenumre was completely bamboozled. "You'd don't know Oreuh? Oreuh the hero? Oreuh is…"

"Nixal is right. Don't you think it's dangerous to send them out at night?" Said Venenti.

"Oh come on, what's the worst that could happen?"

Tenumre looking for herbs. He wanted a paralyzing one, as the ones that are poisonous don't kill immediately, and he didn't want the animal to stray far from the tree. He eventually found one, the Zepule. A very effective herb.

On his way back, he saw another herb, the one he used to brew in his house that lured the monster. This could help him attract a bigger animal. He didn't want it to be too big, not something like a buo, but maybe a big rabbit. He could find a way to make it less effective, so he took it.

He took a bunch of apples and brewed the herbs in a boiling flask. He dipped the apples in it and waited until tomorrow night.

The following night, Nixal lead the Venari siblings to the trap.

"I took threw Sloak fruits and mashed them on a tree,"

"That cost me…" Said Vernon, depressingly.

"then I put a carrot on it. So if the trap worked," they saw a rabbit with its mouth, legs and hands stuck on a green fluid on a tree. "then this should happen."

"Looks like the thing was trying to escape pretty desperately. So, TenTen,"

"TenTen?" Tenumre said confusingly.

"what do you have for us?" Asked Vernon.

Venenti killed the rabbit and put it on her belt.

"Follow me,"

"Come on, just tell us!" Venenti begged.

"It's a surpise,"

"I don't like surprises," Vernon suddenly stopped speaking. All 4 of them stopped in their tracks. In front of them stood a winged metal beast. It was devouring a rabbit.

"I definitely don't like this surprise…" Vernon paused for a moment, "I have an idea. Why don't you demonstrate your skills by fighting the-"

"Are you crazy!" Said Venenti a bit too loudly.

The beast looked behind and saw the four of them. It gulped the rabbit and looked at then with its ocean blue eyes. Venenti attempted to shoot the beast but it easily blocked the arrows with its wings. Nixal came in but despite both of them trying their best, the wings stayed completely undamaged.

Vernon rushed in and attacked the beast with his gladius. He hit and he hit hard, but the beast blocked it with its wings. He blocked and dodged the wings. Tenumre came into the rescue and attacked the beast with his Scimitar. He focused on its left wing and Vernon focused on its right.

"Attack it from the other side," shouted Venenti, "I can't aim properly like this!"

Vernon tried to move behind it but got back-handed (back-winged, if you may). Tenumre was now greatly disadvantaged. He was being attacked by both of its wings at the same time and he could only defend.

"We should move to the other side," suggested Nixal, "I doubt he can move behind it."

Venenti nodded and they circled around the beast. Nixal moved to it's right and Venenti moved to its left. They started shooting the beast and it spread both of its wings to block the arrows. Tenumre took the opportunity and sliced the beast. But before he did, the beast brought its wings forward, it was trying to clap with its wings, crushing Tenumre. He quickly took the scimitar with both hands and held it horizontally. Despite the fact that the beast hit both sides of the scimitar with most of the strength in it wings, the blades of the scimitar did not break

I knew the blade was durable but sheesh

But even though it did not break, it still hit the blades so hard that Tenumre's body vibrated. Tenumre's knees became week and he tried to stand using the scimitar. But the vibration affected his whole body, so his hands were weak too. The scimitar fell on the ground and so did he. He tried to move, but he couldn't move a muscle. The arrows seemed to barely inconvenience the thing, it was approaching Tenumre, it was going to kill him-

A blade pierced through its head, and 2 arrows pierced both sides of its head right after its wings stopped guarding it. Vernon took the blade out and the beast fell limp.

Vernon carried Tenumre to the fire alongside Nixal and Venenti. He slept until the next day. When he awoke, he tried to move at first. He was a bit shaky at first, but he was good as new again after 30 minutes or so. He went back to take his apples. There was only one left.

Was the beast using the trap to his advantage?

The beast itself was burned. He took the last piece of apple and put it in Breys bag. Just in case. And then the final day came.

The next day, they packed their things to leave. Nixal also brought spalous after he begged the siblings to let him. At around sunset, they finally reached where their roads was seperate. In front of them were two paths, and a sign in the middle, an arrow pointing to the left corner, and an arrow pointing to the right corner. The left one read "Marogs" and the right one read "Silisio".

"Don't think I forgot about the challenge," said Vernon, circling the boys with his horse. He made Tenumre stand on the centre, in front of the two paths. "this is your final challenge," he paused for effect, "fight!"
