Prologue

On the west coasts of Kikua, south of Damor, and west of Kada castle, deep within an area between the Silent jungle, and the Blightfen river, lay a dungeon. Far down, beneath the crust of the earth, A young woman was walking along down a path cut through a hallway, her boots clumping against the stone causing echoes all around her and all through the hall. Her torch was trying to light the shadowy hall but failing, as her shadow created flickering devils on the walls. Five hours she had been here, exploring, seeking treasure, and finding only rat hordes and bat swarms, and not a single piece of loot in sight.

However, although her luck was bad she was at least still leveling which was better than dying or not leveling at all. Just a bit more and I’m out of here, no more parents trying to set me up with a guy, no more teachers refusing to teach me because I'm weak, and no more people underestimating me just because I'm a woman. She began to jog after having the thought of going to greener hills. She jogged down further and further into the maze-like dungeon. Far down she went, farther than most maps showed, in her frivelous pursuit of wealth and adventure.

The young woman, named Luca, came across a fork in the road. She began to look around her for clues as to where to go. any tracks of monsters, any previous adventuring marks that her elders may have put up in previous times. but alas, there were none. Yup, I'm lost, thank the gods for portal keys. The small rune-inscribed stone would whisk her away to safety in an instant should the need arise. Although the usefulness of such a thing could not be understated, the complacency and carelessness it taught young adventurers was less than useful.

She began to walk down the left path and almost immediately began to notice a change in the road as the stone gave way to mud and grass on the ground, and on the walls, ivy began its relentless pursuit of light that wasn't there. Moving onward she saw something quite out of place in a jungle but not in a dungeon, Something brown and strangely rectangular.

The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.

Ooh, A chest! Lucky! A simple wooden box with no lock. The dungeon randomly spewed these out, sometimes containing useful items and gear that could be a veritable jackpot for an enterprising young adventurer. Not this one though - the wooden chests in this dungeon offered the lowest grade of loot. Most of them contained bottom-tier potions or maybe moldy bread. The best she could hope to get out of this would be an Iron Ring that provided a negligible bonus to a random stat. Still, beggars can't be choosers.

Just as she was about to open the chest a clank went off about 5 feet to the right of her, Luca immediately hopped backward and looked towards where the sound came from, but when she looked she saw nothing. Luca then began to draw her short sword as her eyes flickered left to right scanning the whole room for possible dangers.

Just as she loosened up her guard a bit a scythe was shoved into her spine as her attacker made itself known to her. A long lithe body, no face, but rather a mask of flesh with the smallest eyes possible, and an ever-expanding gape of flesh and teeth that can be barely considered a mouth. With two large scythe-like appendages protruding from its back, and tentacles replacing its calves, it looked like no monster that would normally be in such a low-level dungeon. There beneath the two scythes, lay two muscular arms, both well equipped with long protruding claws that could so easily pierce the flesh of any organic. Luca could do nothing as she watched the world turn black, and as she slowly slid off the blade that had pierced her spine, and the claw that crushed her heart.

The creature simply watched, with bored amusement, while a blue box appeared in front of it.
