Chapter 1: Origins

Chapter 1: Origins

Back when we were on our homeworld of Atroxis 3, we had decent lives. We lived in our simple villages with our great lords living in grand castles. We would fight amongst ourselves quite frequently, and we would maim and slaughter anything that invaded our territory. One day, great beasts of fire came up from the pits of hell. They attacked us, and we had to fight against them with all our strength. Due to their superior strength and intellect, and control over fire, the fire beasts were able to defeat us. We were forced to flee Atroxis 3 and landed on a world called “Earth”. We had set up a camp of all the surviving Warrior Clans and began to fortify it so we could try to rebuild our civilization.

I was on watch one night when some weak-looking fleshlings approached our camp. I saw them talking with each other. I assumed they were talking about our camp and how great it was. One of the fleshlings, a short female, looked back towards our camp. I looked into her eyes as she turned away to continue talking with one of the other fleshlings. I climbed down from the guard post, grabbed my longsword, and dragged it along the ground as I made my way over to the fleshlings.

“The lizardman is approaching captain,” one of the fleshlings whispered, assuming I wouldn’t hear them.

“Don’t worry, we could take him,” the short female I saw earlier whispered. I noticed that the female was quite tall for their race.

“What are you fleshlings?” I called out when I neared them.

The fleshings were surprised that I could speak their language. All of the fleshlings except for the tall female raised their weapons. I believed at the time that she was a leader, due to the other fleshling calling her captain. I punched one of the fleshling weapons out of one of their hands and swung my sword straight through the same fleshling’s neck. The fleshlings began launching metal pellets out of their weapons in an attempt to harm me. Their attempt failed. The tall female fleshling called out something to the other fleshlings that I couldn’t make out due to the sound made by their weapons. I don’t think the fleshlings heard either. I grabbed one of the remaining fleshlings by the neck, choking him, and I proceeded to slam him into the ground. Blood leaked from his skull as the noise of the weapons stopped momentarily. It soon began once more and I continued to feel the metal pellets hit my scales. The female looked worried as I felt the pellets cut through my skin. The cuts began dripping as I effortlessly stabbed through one of the fleshling’s chests with my longsword. The last fleshling I needed to kill turned around and began to run from me. The tall female put her hand to her face as I threw the shortsword I kept on my belt straight through his head.

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

“Female,” I said, “Why are you and these other fleshlings here?”

She said, “That's what I was going to ask you.”

“I did not bring any fleshlings with me,” I responded.

“I meant you and the other lizard people that have set up here. Where did you come from and why?” the fleshling female asked.

“Female. You will answer me or I will kill you just like I did the other useless runts. Why did you come here?” I said, raising my voice enough to startle her.

“We came to investigate a disturbance in the atmosphere that happened near here a couple of weeks ago,” The female finally answered, “We noticed that your people may have been a threat and were deciding what to do.”

“While we may be a threat to you, we have not shown any signs of hostility. Your people are probably just as much of a threat to us. Go and tell the other fleshlings that you work with that we are not here to destroy you.” I told this to the female fleshling. She did not respond well.

“We have done nothing to threaten you!” The female yelled out.

“So what do I care, you're the one that invaded OUR territory!” I said to her. She froze and muttered something under her breath. Then she lifted her weapon and fired at me, and I barely dodged the metal pellet.

“NOW YOU’VE DONE IT!” I yelled as I lunged at her. My left cheek had begun bleeding, and I could taste my blood. I smashed her weapon into the ground and slammed my fist into her gut. I slashed at her face, barely missing. Her helmet broke revealing her cut face, and I slammed her into the mud.

“You are weak. How could you possibly ever win against me?” I said wiping the blood off my cheek. She couldn't respond quickly enough so I pointed my sword at her throat.

“I’ll spare you this time. Not next time,” I told her, leaving her in the mud bruised, bloody, broken… alone…
