Chapter 498

CHAPTER 498

Although Allison refused to admit it, Arthur could tell from her appearance that the other party had correctly guessed everything. According to the other party, his sister was intoxicated and likely only saw Rowan's back. She mistook Rowan for Jake because they dressed similarly and had similar physiques and hairstyles, so she sneaked into the room, lit the aphrodisiac incense, and had intimate relations with Rowan.

Rowan was sound asleep in his room, and if Arthur's sister hadn't come in and lit the aphrodisiac incense, Rowan wouldn't have had any intimate relations with her. If that were the case, then Allison should be the one to take responsibility for what happened. Who permitted Arthur to assault Rowan? Why would his sister openly declare that she wanted to destroy Rowan? She was to blame for her own predicament!

"Y-You..." Arthur gripped Allison's shoulder, unable to control his rage enough to utter a word.

What would he do next? He had beaten Rowan badly. Would Rowan's friends and family be willing to accept his apology if he told them to forget about it and then explained to them that there had been a misunderstanding?

Madison gently stroked the bruised and swollen spot on his brother's face, then pulled out his phone and tapped a few numbers. "Hello, I'd like to report a crime!"

When Arthur heard that, he quivered and rushed to Madison to grab his phone while anxiously urging him, "You can't call the police!"

If the police found out that his sister was buying and using contraband, she would be arrested and sentenced to jail. She was still young and single, but if she was imprisoned, how could she possibly get

married in the future?

Madison swiftly avoided his hand, and the call was temporarily interrupted.

"Please!" Arthur begged. "All of this is due to a misunderstanding. Please don't call the police. My sister is still young—"

"If I don't call the police, are you implying that I let my brother suffer the grievances for nothing?" Madison glared at him with hostility. "He had an allergy to alcohol and was sound asleep in the room when your sister burst in and did something dishonorable to him, yet here you two are, making a big deal out of it and beating him up so badly. Would you prefer to remain silent and pretend that nothing has happened if you were in my position?" NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.

"I'm sorry!" Arthur urged frantically. "I am willing to make up for your losses! As long as you don't call the police, I'll agree to whatever request you make!"

"What can you compensate us with? Money?" Madison sneered, "Even if you have tens of thousands of wealth, in my eyes, it is not worth as much as a piece of my brother's hair! I don't want your compensation. I just want your sister to get punished for what she did!"

"She didn't do it on purpose!" Arthur had already begun to perspire profusely. "She made a mistake and thought it was someone else... She's still young and made a mistake in a moment of confusion. Please let her go for the sake of her young age. Calling the police will ruin her life!"

"If she's afraid of her life getting ruined, she shouldn't have done those spiteful things!" Madison spat coldly. "Your sister may be young, but my brother is younger than her. If you want me to show you

mercy, what about you? Have you shown mercy to my brother?"

The look on his younger brother's face was horrifying, and he had no idea how many other wounds Rowan had sustained.

His brother was the only member of his family, and Madison was usually reluctant to even reprimand him. However, now that Rowan had been beaten up so badly, Madison knew he would never be able to find peace unless he sought justice for Rowan.

Taking a few steps back, he turned to Edmund and said, "Keep him away from me." Edmund nodded in response.

After Madison brought the phone to his ear, the call ended, so he dialed the number again. "Hello, I'd like to file a report. I'm at Club Tempest, and someone here has bought and used contraband… Yes. She's in this room… OK… I will watch over her so that she doesn't leave."

When Arthur overheard the conversation on the call, he tried to intervene once more, but he was held back by Edmund and the others.

He was anxious but suddenly thought of something and turned to Jake. "Jake, can you please ask them to stop? As long as they don't call the police, I will compensate them with whatever they ask!"

Jake felt he was in a difficult spot. He felt uneasy and had a twinge of guilt because he felt like Rowan had to suffer in his stead. Since they were both dressed similarly that day, Allison, intoxicated, confused Rowan for him, resulting in the subsequent series of events. Although Rowan was quite tall, he had a more childlike and youthful appearance, and it was clear that he was a young man at first glance.

Although it was true that men typically took advantage of women, Jake did not believe this to be the case. If he succumbed to Allison's ruse and had sexual relations with her, he would be completely repulsed and abhorrent of the whole thing.

Rowan was a young man with limited experience in intimate relationships between men and women, so he likely shared Jake's sentiments. In addition to that, Arthur and Allison severely assaulted him and beat him up. There were fresh blood scratches all over his face, and his eyes, cheeks, and lips were all puffy. His right eye had swollen to the point where he could no longer see out of it.

"She didn't do it on purpose!" Arthur had already begun to perspire profusely. "She made a mistake and thought it was someone else... She's still young and made a mistake in a moment of confusion. Please let her go for the sake of her young age. Calling the police will ruin her life!"

Jake had a brother, and if he were in Madison's shoes, with his brother having been subjected to such a spiteful experience and even being beaten up, Jake would never forgive the person responsible for it. In all honesty, he was not willing to listen to Allison's pleading for leniency.

Nonetheless, Arthur was his best friend. Since he had asked him for help, he would feel guilty for not trying to speak up. Sending Madeline a hopeful look, he muttered, "Madeline—"

"Sorry, Jake." She explained, "This is Madison and Rowan's personal matter, so I have no right to intervene."

Even if she did have the right to intervene, she would make the same choice as Madison and Rowan, which was to file a report and send Allison to jail!

Those who committed mistakes should receive the appropriate punishment. Since the day Madeline met her master, he had reminded her about this countless times, not to mention that the victim was her subordinate. That gave her more reason to punish the one at fault!

Jake shook his head and gave Arthur a helpless look.

At that very second, Allison's face changed from anger and resentment to a state of panic. She couldn't believe they'd called the police! She had previously demanded that someone call the police on Rowan, but only so she could file a harassment lawsuit against him. She hoped that by having the police apprehend him, he would be thrown in jail, where she could then have inmates torment him to appease her resentment.

What is going on now? The other party called the police to report that she had used contraband! In fact, she bought and used it. If the police came, they'd have no trouble finding evidence of her purchase.

Due to the existence of aphrodisiac incense, Rowan would not be arrested and sent to prison; instead, she would be arrested for purchasing and using contraband. Allison was going to jail and becoming a prisoner! Wouldn't she be a laughingstock if that happened to her? How could she continue to face the public? Furthermore, not to mention how miserable life was in prison, how could she still get married even if she was released after serving her sentence?
