Hector couldn’t afford to wait around. After probing the outside area with his senses for another few seconds, learning little, he plunged out from behind the waterfall.
“You even had people hiding in there!? Why couldn’t I sense you!?” a man shouted in two voices, momentarily looking away from all the hideous creatures he was fighting. Scattered around the area were black and white monstrosities, crystalline monstrosities, and crystalline bird-thingies. Were the crystalline monstrosities turning into crystalline bird-thingies? Wait, there wasn’t time for this.
“I just got here! I don’t even know what’s going on!” Hector yelled back, not wanting to involve himself in this strange battle.
“Then help me or get the hell away!” the man replied.
As the man shifted back and forth between a gaseous and more physical form, he rained down some type of attacks on the crystalline beings. The black and white creatures stopped their pursuit of whatever they were chasing and turned their hideous visages towards Hector.

“Uh…” Hector felt déjà vu but couldn’t explain what was going on. Just as the crystalline bird-thingies started joining together to form one humungous bird-thingy, Hector sensed a new presence from behind the waterfall. Not caring for it much, he instinctively flew away and towards the hyperstate-capable man. Crap, he was trying to extricate himself from this battle, not join it.
“Oh shit!” the man shouted, seemingly noticing the new presence behind the waterfall as well. Even the crystalline creatures paused their efforts.
A hulking form emerged from behind the waterfall: a feldeath. The one Hector had encountered shortly before, no doubt. Somehow, it had followed him to an entirely different realm.
Hector felt he had two choices here.
