VI - Clothing

(Narrator perspective is used from here on.)

A small party of ten guardsmen had been assigned to escort the Eastern Foxfolk's royal family for the duration of their hunting trip. Sayuki --- the blue fox-eared girl from earlier --- had left her tent in the dark of night to train with her sword. As she made her way back with cheeks rose-colored, one of the watchmen immediately came to see her.

"Princess, why are you outside at this time of night? Is there anything you need?" The man politely quizzed her.

"Indeed I do, Tsuyoshi. Please, fetch me a set of men's clothing, as quick as you can."

"Eh...?" the watchman hesitated, but soon realized he was the royal family's guard, not counselor, and quickly put hands to the task. "Um, will my own suffice?"

Sayuki sized up Tsuyoshi with furrowed brows "His shoulders are wider, and he's most definitely taller... But as long as it is something loose, it should work."

"May I ask who...?"

"You may not" She quickly shut him down. Sayuki was loved for memorizing the names of her subjects, but that did not mean she was one to gossip with them.

"A-Alright. I will be right back."

Sayuki watched the guard leave, and looked back at the Envoy of Heaven, now barely noticeable behind the shade of a tree. Her cheeks flushed again as she recalled the temptation of peeking when there was but a handful of leaves between her eyes and his skin.

When Tsuyoshi returned, she made sure to dismiss him, and only then did she return, bashfully yet happily, to the Envoy of Heaven. In her hands, she held a neatly folded traditional Eastern getup: a modest white kimono with golden lining and blue details.

A tiny spoiler: Tsuyoshi will not be gettin those back any soon.

(Back to Magnus' perspective)

The clothes she brought me were much like a single-piece bathrobe. I had seen these a couple of times in my past life, yet I was not precisely a nobleman, so I never got a chance to try one on. As I expected, it felt silky smooth and expensive; and while it was a bit tighter than I had hoped, it didn't seem like it would restrict my movements.

That being said... There's this long piece of black, golden-lined fabric that I should probably tie around my waist. I have been looking at hers for reference, but I can't quite figure out how to...

"W-Would you like me to assist you with that?" She shyly proposed. My cheeks went rose for the first time in a few thousand years, but I nodded. "Please, if you don't mind."

The fox-eared cutie walked up to me and put her arms around me, as I lifted mine. Her face was at inches of my skin, and as she politely brought the ribbon's sides forward and tied them together, I felt her breathing on my chest...

"You smell of berries and frost, Envoy of Heaven." I don't know if she realized how flirty that appeared to me.

"I am... glad you enjoy my scent," I bashfully said, pausing because I realized I had yet to ask how to refer to her.

"I am Sayuki Shirohana, Heiress of the Eastern Foxfolk clan. Nice to meet you." She smiled to me, cutesily blushing.

Oh, by the Stars do I want to grab her and... Ahem, I have to control myself.

"I am Magnus. The pleasure is mine" I smiled back to her, stopping my hands from holding her close as she stepped back.

Heiress, huh. Given the fancy clothing, the elaborate tents and the guardsmen, I had a feeling she was of nobility... That being said, I may have to start looking into those "ensorcelling the mind" powers of mine, or I might end up behind bars for bedding a princess yet again.

"Midnight is nigh, so I'll shelter you in my tent for today. Tomorrow, I'll introduce you to by brother and father. I am sure they will be gnawing with jealousy when they hear I have found the Envoy of Heaven."

Oh, well...

Here we go again!
