Cleansing 27 : Us Scouting

I wasn't shocked about Jule's invitation since I'm already used to it. Instead, I was shocked by the fact that some of the female hogs were actually pregnant right after the mutation.

After the event, the pregnant hogs mysteriously lost the things they were carrying inside their bellies. They were shocked about it at first but then decided to forget about it since it was more convenient for the horde when moving around places. Although this topic was mentioned one time, the hogs seriously did not care about it.

During the event, there were also no little hogs around making me wonder where the hell those little guys went. I am not sure if the already born babies grew up automatically or the babies disappeared since we hogs don't socialize before the event and the female hogs who bore those little hogs don't really care much about their youngsters.

"What's with the surprised face?" Jule said with a puzzled expression. I ignored Jule as I slowly but steadily pushed her outside my dwelling.

'How could you not know the significance of this matter' I could only sigh as the thought of the horde increasing its population was rather a huge matter for me.

When we were out of the house I told Jule multiple of times to never go inside when I'm out. I ran as fast as I could towards the Chief and left Jule hanging.

'It's not like I don't care for you, Jule. But I really got a feeling that the newly born hogs will be different than the previous ones.' I really can't explain it but the matter of caring for one's young will have a qualitative change was what my senses were telling me.

When I reached the Chief's dwelling which was the tallest building in the hamlet and was rather convenient to look for since it was placed at the center of the hamlet.

I saw the Chief holding a thing called 'rake' some houses got them but most of them can be found in an abandoned lot near the hamlet with a weird forming ground which was actually called as a 'plot'.

The Chief was practicing. He said that this 'rake' here will become an extension of his limbs and will hit the enemy hard when we first saw that item.

He slashed the air with his rake, hacked, pierced and chopped. Despite the Chief's muscular build, his movements were rather fluent and fast while displaying his agility and mastery of using his newly mutated limbs. I can't even see the rake when it's moving.

'Wow. If an enemy got hit by that. The poor rake would surely break' I approached the Chief while making heavy steps in order for him to notice my presence.

The Chief halted his practice and spoke without even turning back.

"Cool right?"

"Urgh, It was but you destroyed that cool image by acting like that"

*cough

*cough

"So what brought you here?"

"I was about to ask you about the pregnancy of some hogs"

"What's there to ask for Fig?"

'Oh come on, even you Chief?' I thought inwardly as I went closer to the Chief and murmured something.

"WHAT!??"

The Chief shouted when he heard my words. Well, what I told the Chief was rather scary in my opinion as well so that would be a natural response, I guess.

"How can you say something like that Fig? Did you got it from your analyze skill?"

The Chief was now sweating bullets since he might be the cause of this massive pregnancy of the horde.

"No I didn't. I only got a feeling that it would be like that though" I told the Chief with a mischievous smile on my face. The Chief breath a sigh of relief as he continued to practice and was now ignoring my existence.

'Hehe, suits you right Chief. Who told you to show off that muscular body of yours around.' I went out of the Chief's dwelling and was planning to go around looking for those pregnant hogs when I saw the first scouting team return, I changed my mind.

"Is there something new?" I asked as I looked towards the current leader of this scouting team, Nic.

Nic smirked and moved towards the Chief's dwelling while saying... "Come, you hear it with the Chief"

"I just went there but yeah might as well listen to it when the report is still fresh"

I followed the scouting team as we seek an audience with the Chief. Though Chief Pair might be the Chief, he doesn't act arrogantly like that Goblin Chief and the hogs treated him just like any other hog, he too treated the members of the Horde as his brothers instead of being subordinates. It really made me wonder why the goblins care about their Chief so much that they were actually willing to die for him.

The Chief was repeating those flashy moves he made when I first went in but this time he stilled and made no weird spiel.

'Damn so that was actually scripted, this pretentious hog how many times have you done this already?' I cursed the Chief in my mind as the scouting team was awed by the Chiefs flashy display.

He turned around and faced us when he saw me, his brow curled but it returned to normal like it never happened as he squatted on the floor.

"So how was it Nic?"

"Nothing new, we moved at dusk and withdrawn when dawn came. Even while moving as fast as we can, we could still not leave the forest"

"At least there was no danger in the northern area and we can consider it as a safe route, so did you mark the path?"

"Yeah, we also made sure to locate water sources when we're at it."

"Well done, tell Jule to gather her team so they could depart when dusk comes, let her go towards the west. Jule will be more efficient since she has navigation skills"

I agree with that statement, Jule even introduced the four cardinal points to us and even made plenty of examples on how to determine them.

Nic confirmed that with a smirk. Nic and his team left the Chief's dwelling.

"Hey Chief, I don't see the point of the time duration of this scouting team. Why not let them move further and only return when they saw something new?"

The Chief nodded his head but did not automatically reply. Moments later he stood and said.

"I am afraid that those humans might return, so we cannot afford to allow the scouting team to be away for too long." The Chief walked around me, as he was revolving his eyes were focused on me.

"Yeah, there sure is a possibility of them returning but it's not like we could not negotiate with them peacefully. The analyze skill says that they were a diplomatic race."

The Chief stopped moving and pointed a wall, I looked at the direction of the wall and saw a cloth hanging on the wall.

"What's that?" I asked as my curiosity was triggered.
